Something about this makes me go :byodood: (in a good way)
is that Limansk Radar I see in the distance? :raise:
That's outside the Zone.
Who's to say they can't use it later? They cut out Buhrers and Chimera's and Rats and left it as abortion data in SoC, but they still made their way into Call of Pripyat later on.
SoC was commercial though.
People need to learn to respect one another work, in the real world you can't run about, for example stealing parts of books cramming them into one big novel and then taking all credit for it. I don't see why so many people on the internet that can do something like modding are so full of themselves. It reminds me alot of the RP servers in gmod where abunch of shit is stolen and incorporated into the gamemodes.
I agree on the respect aspect, but for example in the Cortex Command modding community, until recently no one copyrighted their work. Then we saw a clusterfuck of stealed code (borrowing code with permission had been done for ages though) and everyone started applying the GNU license on their shit. TL;DR people might forget to claim rights for their work, everyone takes stuff, repacks it and takes credit. Can't do shit captain.
Next thread title: Dancing Pripyat Lion Edition
Nah, "Stalkers raving in the face of danger" edition is better.

I still want Winter Zone, not just a bunch of white colors slapped on textures. :saddowns:
Eh, a Snowy Zone isn't so grim and scary.
hey where did CoP redux go?
I removed the downloads from ModDB because the guy whose weapon values I temporarily used is a massive douche and didn't want me using them anymore, so I took it down until I replace it with Redux values for v1.0. You can still find it at Fileplanet, and other places, I believe :)
It slipped into an anomaly. It was a good stalker. Let's drink to it once more.
Eh, a Snowy Zone isn't so grim and scary.
I dunno, if you'd make it more like the extreme arctic (lolzonedidit) with howling winds and snowstorms and petty fires which the Stalkers huddle around to stop themselves from freezing to death. Give them parkas and thicker clothes, sunglasses, goggles, anything to prevent photokeratisis. Mutants are rarer, but more dangerous. Make fire an important element, while it scares some mutants, others are attracted to it. Extremely radioactive areas are devoid of snow. Anomalies make amazing visual sights out of whirling snow, graceful but deadly. Yeah Stalker can be adapted to shitloads of different settings. Consider this a hybrid of Cryostasis and SoC. More about exploration, surviving, and loneliness than skirmishes with bandits and Monolith.

Give mutants new abilities. Snorks in trees? Why not. Zombies under snow, grabbing your foot? Sure. Bloodsuckers reside more indoors, since you can see their footprints outside. Fleshes are inactive, but defend their burrows / caves fiercely. Aside from the buried zombies, you could see a shambling body, close to freezing point, far away in the snow. If you shoot it's leg, it'll just break off and crumble. It might still try to crawl towards you, but they'd be severely hindered by the cold.
That kind of mod needs to be fucking made
These are all great ideas but its a shame nobody can make a game like that.
These are all great ideas but its a shame nobody can make a game like that.
Maybe if we got the source code, or started from scratch on the unreal engine.
it'd be interesting if STALKER 2 would take place during Winter. We already have a few photos of loners posing infront of snowy mountains for their PDAs in SoC, so why not?
What would be even more awesome would be if the seasons shifted :3 Or better yet, local seasons (lolszonedidit)
What would be even more awesome would be if the seasons shifted :3 Or better yet, local seasons (lolszonedidit)
That's what I think that it would be awesome, but it's hard to implement. I don't see a problem with local seasons, I always imagined that a few areas in the Zone are snow covered due to some special anomalies. We've already got a BOILER in the ground, why not have a frezzer?
Eh, a Snowy Zone isn't so grim and scary.
It was in Metro 2033. I thought it was adorable when CoP was saying what happened afterwords when [sp]they said that bandits used Pseudodog puppies as hunters. :3[/sp]
Playing Stalker with the lowest settings on a low resolution stretched to my 19" screen I've realized something. The graphics really aren't everything. I've enjoyed playing it with the crappy textures and horrible draw distance, sometimes I notice something that looks ugly but then I forget it and continue enjoying the atmosphere. Stalker is just so awesome.

Drive-by!
Hey guys, a question, why does Guide show up next to Fox in Cordon when I play LURK? Shouldn't he show up like, 75% into the game there? :raise:
I agree, he then has a huge habit of dying.
What good does attaching ammunition to your belt do in L.U.R.K.?
