Plants VS Zombies is shit.
Get Condemned: Criminal Origins. Not all the enemies there are exactly zombies, mostly just crazy hobos, but it's scary as shit and filled with awesome hand-to-hand combat.
There's no decent zombie games out now tbh.
I remember the shock you'd get from resident evil 1 when a zombie would come up from behind you when you only just got a key or something, ammo was VERY scarce and it took lots of bullets to actually kill a zombie.
Now, the idea is; "Fit as many zombies onscreen as you possibly can and give the player a mini-gun/rocket launcher, make a few huge random things and we have a winner!"

It happens, search a bit in google, the game is easily modifiable and you might be able to skip the intro movie.
Try space or one of the preset keys in the menu, too.
And I don't think the game runs on 64 bit, however I can be wrong.
I have a 32bit system and I don't find anything useful that could help me :(

Buy house of the Dead overkill or The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for the wii, their both filled with action but their rail shooters, if your into that kinda thing. Like they've been saying, Dead rising is pretty good, Cold Fear, Zombie Panic or Zombie Master if you have half life 2, Shell Shock 2 was zombie based, Fallout 3 has zombies in it, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and the Evil Dead series.

It's still really inferior compared to the other console version.
Killing floor is a nice buy for the price, but it's an acquired taste and doesn't appeal to everybody.

The Thief games, mainly the first, have shit-scary undead.
