That doesn't sound like a bad mod honestly. I've never liked the whole hopping scene as it is inhabited by the kind of people who I loathe. But every so often you do see mods like that, they think outside the box a bit.
Mirrors Edge wasn't overly scripted from what I see when I play it, sure there are some areas you can't jump onto due to level boundaries, but a lot of it you could interact how you want with, unless you mean something else :v:
Iunno. The movement felt a bit scripted to me, but I suppose that's for a larger variety in movement, what you described earlier.
Thanks for your consideration. The hate in this thread surprised me a bit, but I understand where they're coming from.
i love bunnyhopping
when i do it for long times and everything flies by it's so fucking awesome, and it's faster than walking
Anyone who thinks bunnyhopping only requires W and spacebar have never bunnyhopped before
[editline]13th January 2011[/editline]
I mean holy shit does anyone in this thread even know how bunnyhopping works

Yes i do, i knew this really annoying guy who did it all the time and thought he had l33t play4 sk1llz, he showed me how to do it and everything.
he also had an HL2:DM/CSS clan of l33t bunnyhoppers, always played on deathrun servers.
Realism happened.
Saying bunnyhopping is skill is like calling hacking skill because you have enough skill to install the hack
I hate bunnyhopping.
I can't count how many times I turn a corner, see a man fly at me at 10,000 KM/H and somehow land a perfect 1 hit head-shot while bouncing side to side at exploitative/cheat speeds.
(It is even more frustrating when you see them holding a smoke grenade that magically transforms into a knife.)
Saying bunnyhopping is skill is like calling hacking skill because you have enough skill to install the hack
If I've been playing kreedz and bhop for five years, and I call it extremely difficult to learn and master, let alone perfect, would you believe me? I'd hope so.
Maybe it varies from game to game, but traditional bunnyhop is very difficult to learn.
We started stabbing all the stupid fucks who do it outside of quake.
in the case of Mirror's Edge, moves which can be executed with a simple button combination. No skill required.
What? It wasn't the hardest game in the world, but 1 button combination?
Bunnyhopping was fun until the new update came out. Then it turned into shit.
UT was so great, everyone was bouncing and flipping around all over the place it was hilarious.
Bunnyhopping is fine outside of real gameplay. But when it's used for an advantage in gameplay, then it's not.
skill (n.) - capacity to do something well; technique, ability. Skills are usually acquired or learned, as opposed to abilities, which are often thought of as innate.
Is skill not the appropriate word here?
Bunnyhopping and map-bugging are both exploits, yes. However, did an entire community come out and bitch when these map exploits were threatened to be removed? No? That's the difference, then.
Oh no, an entire community of people who are annoyed because they actually have to be better than people instead of just exploiting an annoying bug.
Woe is you.
ITT:
umad?
This, just because you can't do it doesn't mean it's an exploit, Can you aim like an esports pro? No? That must be exploiting too then.
Aiming and shooting isn't an exploit because that's how you're supposed to play. Bunnyhopping was never meant to be used and its just something that takes advantage of a flaw in the game so it's an exploit.
One of the few reasons I haven't totally switched to PC gaming are things like this which you almost never see in console online shooters.

Congtats, you have the high knowledge of being a douchebag and ruining the game for everyone else. Your mom must be so proud.
I don't know why people complain about bunny hoppers. If you cannot kill a person jumping around in plain sight then you're just bad at aiming. They're good target practice.
In CS:S you can move side to side continuously and dodge a lot of bullets, can you do that in real life? No, so why don't servers disallow that as well. Why don't servers just disallow moving at all when shooting, that'll teach them to exploit gameplay...

I don't think you two understand at all, honestly. The entire kreedz community is built around 'kreedz' maps, designed specifically for jump tactics. If the update was released, it would break these maps, and the community - a community with over 50,000 players. Perhaps if you actually understood the argument you'd know this. I love these maps, and in actual gameplay, I don't use bunnyhop. Read the thread, please.
I even highlighted the main point twice in this thread, in red text...

Then maybe you should just stick with the games that are too old to care what you're doing. You can't expect anyone to make a game that involves only bunnyhopping because it would be retarded.
If you have games that allow you to bunnyhop normally, people exploit it.
Giving a console command for it is a waste of time for such a niche community.
If you like bunnyhopping and game exploits such as bunnyhopping you should try vanilla BF2. About every server is full of these "highly skilled" people you speak of.

Clearly it isn't a waste of time if Valve did give a command. and revoked an update to Counter-Strike that would have ruined some important kreedz tactics.
How about you live and let live, what I'm proposing would not harm current games as it stands. I don't understand your harsh and rude tone.
I think bunnyhopping is annoying but I don't get mad when I see people do it.
It is a skill, skills are being good at a certain technique. I can't argue with that.
I'm also not saying it's not an exploit.
IMO it's an exploit and a skill you can learn
Is it just me, or are those videos the OP posted horrible?
They speed up the playing half the time, and add blurs unnecessarily.
[editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
Also, I bunnyhop occasionally, but only on bunnyhop servers, for fun.

Valve has the time to do that, and cares about most of its communities. Most other companies don't.
As for my tone, it's because nothing's going to change. You posting here won't change anything, or make anyone more aware.
Give convar that allows Bhoping. Default off.
cod2 jumping was awesome, i used to jump for codjumper before the game died.

What's your problem, then? I think this thread has a lot of substance and I've made some good points. Facepunch has differing opinions perhaps.
Honestly, if I could actually learn how to bunnyhop I'll do it all the time.
You guys be ignorant. I mean I tried learning how to do this on that one source mod that was built for bunny hop trial maps. You need to be fucking super precise. It's crazy.
