alright I'll spec 71 points into fire cause that's my play style and i'll totally out dps someone who specs properly and actually looks at statistic for their class.
There's a reason why almost every end game mage have very similar specs.
There is no "style". You are either doing it right or doing it wrong.
hi i pay 15$ a month to let someone tell me how to play my game
i have seen frost pve mages, to bm pve hunters. sure, they are shit, they do shit dps, but at least they play the game how they want, and if they are enjoying themselves, more power to them.
proper specs and rotations = more dps
bad specs and rotations = less dps
I really don't know what else to say
i do, you're an idiot
i do, you're an idiot

proper specs + rotations but not being great at staying alive = dead
slightly offhand spec with more survivability = slightly behind in dps but hey you arent dead
but parrrrrrky, then you dont get that extra 100dpsssssssss
specced into decimation so I make up for it usually in the last 35%
And there goes the topic.
proper specs + rotations but not being great at staying alive = dead

You don't need an offhand spec to move out of giant fire circles or void zones. You don't need an offhand spec to survive periodic damage throughout a raid. You do need an offhand spec if you get tunnel vision and find yourself getting hit by avoidable damage.

or if your guilds healers are getting geared, or if your guild needs some raid buffs or if you like playing knowing you can take an occasional hit without everything fucking up
if you like playing knowing you can take an occasional hit without everything fucking up
take an occasional hit from what? What are you getting hit by in raids that are just killing you when you don't have survivability talents.
trash, adds, slime etc.
trash, adds, slime etc.
Trash doesn't matter, you shouldn't be getting hit by it anyways. Adds in wotlk raids are fairly forgiving, you won't get 1 shot or even 2 shot by most of them and by then a tank will pick them up. I understand where you're coming from but it just isn't effective. I mean it won't make the difference between like 5k dps and 6k dps, but for a pure raiding spec you really don't need survivability talents at all. Fights like Faction Champions are one of the few exceptions but if you're paying attention and are able to move before the melee mobs can get to you then you'll be fine.
hey man listen i know you totally have no experience and have never raided before heres what you do
i built my spec to be effective against what ive experienced most dont tell me how to play

I've been raiding since early 2005 but thanks. Maybe most should start telling you how to play.
holy shit early 2005 too bad i dont care

Hey guys, we should listen to this guy, he's been raiding since 2005.
An infinite well of raiding-knowledge is stored within his douchey exterior.

I didn't say it in the sense of "I've been raiding since 2005 listen to me". I just said it because he said I have never raided. A raider that started a month ago can easily learn everything there is to raiding; it isn't difficult.
i was mocking you
i was mocking you
Why must you hurt me so?
why must you post like a twat
Wow, you managed to come in here for the first time and be a bigger douche than most of the professionals in this section... congratulations!
I'm sorry if you feel threatened by what I wrote but, I was pretty unimpressed that you had the guy waste his gold moving to a completely incorrect spec. There were times I thought you were trolling so I figured I would point him towards something better.
"Play style" is no excuse for the builds you created. Prismatic Cloak is indeed worthless considering you have a 40% threat reduction to your arcane spells, and Slow applies a debuff to bosses that tanks themselves maintain. There are truly only two talent points where opinion comes anywhere close to defeating math and it's Incanter's, Magic Absorption, or Arcane Stability.
proper specs + rotations but not being great at staying alive = dead

The talents he took don't create much survivability. Magic Absorption would be that talent, and it's already been stated that you may place points there over Arcane Stability or Incanter's Absorption. And I highly doubt he was using Mage Armor for survivability, though a decision to use it on fights like Twin Vs would not be a terrible idea if you are soaking.
and this is all invalidated because different people play according to their own style and mostly will benefit from playing their own style more than someone elses
No, if you spec for slow and Prismatic Cloak for PVE content, you need to read up about how your class works. There's plenty of information freely available, and hiding behind statements like "What I do works for me" is closed minded.
I'm not really sure why you're jumping over Fkpuz. The changes Thorny made to the Arcane tree would only waste GDCs and reduce your damage significantly, and I'm insulted that he would dismiss the corrections made to his spec as opinion. I understand that casuals may want to play in a casual way, but the dude's got a Frostfire helm and dual spec if I remember correctly, so if he's going to join a raid he should understand the mechanics behind his class and be well-equipped to perform his role as DPS well.
want to know what is closed minded, copying everything to the dot because youre too afraid of being different ~dont hide who you are inside~
You're cute.
youre dumb
Well I won't argue that.
Parky, I actually think I love you.
