Yeah the real time cave got me.
I don't see what's THAT amazing about it, many map editors can do something fairly similar.
Actually, i'm not sure what theyre actually showing ? what is this going to be [editline]8th January 2011[/editline]
I was loving all the videos Shian posted until I saw this :colbert: [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8938276/colbert.png[/img_thumb]
Oh dear god, even arma2 does that better
Wow, this looks so amazing. Though I wonder what requirements would you need for a game running that engine. Because I would fucking get an upgrade for it. Visual masturbation all day every day.
Will this ever be released (for public use)?
Will this ever be released (for public use)?
I believe you are referring to the engine?
I think I confused RealTime Immersive as a mod for CryEngine 3. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] Will RealTime Immersive be released for public use is what I meant, I guess
You are most likely to play with this when Crysis 2 comes out.
That dynamic cave creation was badass. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] Fuck Shit Up on this engine. Do it.

The ultra tryhard camera angles and music basically reek of an attempt to look like Modern Warfare 2. Yep, I went there. Take away the Bourne-ish parkinsons inflicted camera work and what you see in these videos just gets more boring by a factor of 10. I wish I could be positive but it's basically just a bunch of guys doing minor things with a game engine that plenty of people have done before, and just trying to make it look all 'pro' and hardcore by slapping on a silly company name and creating a 'serious' looking website to host it on. Call me when they release a full blown title that actually serves a purpose and/or is somehow fun to play.
Really, I am truly trying to see what is so great about this after seeing BmB getting shitstormed to death. The way I see it, BmB is right with the fact that I have seen this a couple of years ago and played with the sandbox editor for many nights and nothing I see in these videos is in any way new apart from some assets. It could just be a random mod from crymod.com . @pandemix: I have made huge underground caves with streams and such. Booby traps are no problem, sandbox supports many constraints just like Garrysmod does. Here is an example of a total conversion mod: Some real time physics: And a remake of some Sony commercial apparently, showing that these graphics are really nothing new:
I want it!
OP is good at being on a forum. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] Time to get a fucking high end PC.
Does anyone want to be able to make caves that easily in the sims?
And I meant Battlefield Project Reality.
Although the graphics do look very good, we still know nothing about what the guns will handle and feel like, or how the will look either.
The absolute LAST thing I want this thing to run is a boring "Modernized combat" game. DEFINITELY NO ARMA, CoD, MEDAL OH HONOR OR SHITS LIKE THAT I WANT UNREALISTIC THINGS ON THIS. But Battlefield would be good as well.
Implying any of those are realistic.
uh
There are other unrealistic things apart from CoD and MoH, which are very fun. Unreal Tournament for example.
There are other unrealistic things apart from CoD and MoH, which are very fun. Unreal Tournament for example.
2004 yeah, I think UT3 tried to hard to look like Gears of War.
*joke*Well then you wont like this game, because it tries to hard to look like Crysis*joke*. I thought he meant the game play in terms of realism or not.
Yeah CryENGINE 3's awesome.
This is not the CryEngine 3 though. *ignore this, apparently it is not quite clear which engine they are using*
You know guys, BmB was kind of right, this is basically Cryengine 2 with tweaked lighting and a few extra features added on.
So, having full time of day transitions, dynamic night vision, terrain surface types, weather environments, water current systems, and RT cave creation, while maintaining a high FPS isn't something to go 'wow' about?
Crysis had most of this, the only things new here are the weather system (I assume they have a system where the weather can change ingame, they aren't just building maps with different textures and effects), the (questionably useful) water current system and the nightvision shaders. Although the Realtime Immersive website says they use the Cryengine 3, which is weird, because graphically it looks more like Cryengine 2 (there's no indirect lighting). Maybe they're using an earlier version of the engine or something. [editline]8th January 2011[/editline] Ahhh, looks like it is CE3 after all: They just had global illumination turned off. Why the hell would they do that when showcasing the capabilities of the engine?
Their computer wasn't good enough.
I'm amazed at the real-time cave creation system. Also, That looks fucking beautiful.
Will this ever be released (for public use)?
VBS2 is in a way released for public use, but it costs hundreds of dollars for the base software alone. I mean look on the Realtime Immersive website and you'll see what kind of people they're marketing the game to:
* US Army * US Special Operations Command * Lockheed Martin * Thales * General Dynamics * Bechtel * Kapl * Cubic * Meggitt
And they're marketing it not as an entertainment product, but as:
* Military marksmanship trainer * Nuclear power plant simulator * Investigative/debriefing simulator * Pre-visualization and marketing * Serious games training * Virtual Prototyping
Here's a quote from the BIS forums:
I seriously doubt we'll see RTI release a game we'll see in the stores. They are catering for the Serious Games market just like BIA/BISim/VBS2. I saw the demo at a trade show last year, it was very impressive. But its being touted as a platform to build specific applications upon, not a ArmA2 like game. They have said that it will eventually be able to compete with VBS2 but i think we'll have to give it some time and development before it becomes a proper competitor The cryengine3 is pretty capable and what RTI seem to be doing is very similar to what BIA has done with the OFP and ArmA1 engines. They are rewriting/adapting sections of the engine to allow for expansion. Whether that is graphical or functional it can be added in. People should also remember that the entity limits are imposed due to hardware/performance requirements of the "average" gamer and console. They can be removed or adjusted. VBS2 has done it with ArmA1. Why can't the Cryengine be similarly "updated"? If it can be, and if someone were to create an ArmA2 competitor. And as much as I love ArmA2, I think it would be a very interesting competition to watch. But I think BIS would need to update the RV engine for ArmA3 to compete in the graphical stakes. __________________
The cave creation system has been in Crysis too.
My mind has been blown.
Was that a mod taking credit for all the tech in the cry engine?
