You guys should watch CE3 engine presentations/demos and compare them to this. As kukiric said, some of the features are already there.
I don't understand what's so amazing, isn't this just cryengine with a couple of new features? Why was everyone bashing BmB?
I don't understand what's so amazing, isn't this just cryengine with a couple of new features? Why was everyone bashing BmB?
Because it's BmB
Because BmB talks in a way that makes everyone want to fucking pull his face off.
It's not like they can't do what BIS does and make a milsim game to compete with Arma2 or Arma3 later.
That will depend on if they see consumer products as a better profit than training tools, which is as likely as eSimgames releasing a Steel Beasts 2. On the other hand, I'm still waiting for BIS to implement walking in and shooting from within vehicles into ArmA 2 from BIA's VBS1/VBS2 code.

I'm hoping for good desert or forest vegetation. Not the same old models as in crysis.
To improve Arma 2 performance turn Anti Aliasing to max I shit you not you will gain 20-30 frames [editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
That will depend on if they see consumer products as a better profit than training tools, which is as likely as eSimgames releasing a Steel Beasts 2. Oh, attachto? That's not the VBS1 vehicle code.

If you mean attachTo, that's completely different.
Well that cave deformation looks totally BA.
We need more voxel-based terrain in game engines.
I jizzed at the caves and the SketchUp model import features.
The caves are on CryEngine 2 This looks more like a CryEngine 3 ad than an ad for the game It uses Crysis assets, and it looks exactly like Crysis Couldn't they advertise it a bit later in development? [editline]10th January 2011[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://gscanner.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/crysis2007-12-2421-38-48-42.jpg[/img_thumb] This isn't good to you?
That isn't very good. Sure there's light rays and bloom but look at the foliage itself. Nothing like the Crysis alpha footage.
Couldn't they advertise it a bit later in development?
Later in development of what? They didn't announce any game. They just showcased that they can make specific simulation application using CE3 for the contractors they listed.
This is basically the exact showcase for cryengine 2 two-three three years ago.
We need more voxel-based terrain in game engines.
It's not voxels its metaballs. And this has been in since the first release of Crysis.
This makes me sad, when it comes to PC hardware i'm at least 4 years behind everyone else. it will be 2013 by the time I can play a game with looks like that.
If you're 4 years behind then you should be just about ready now.
Which was off during this showcase. Also GI doesn't make unlit cave so light. I know, I do a lot of 3d. Nights were so bright in crysis1 too. Hell, you could make a box with no holes and it's still as light as outside
They might have left the GI bright for the video as well. But yeah, I'd expect it to be that bright at the mouth of the cave, but deeper inside it should be pitch black.
Honestly I still think Arma 2 looks more realistic. Sure it doesn't have as many fancy effects, but you can almost mistake some of the trailers for actual documentary footage. Not quite the case for CryEngine I'm afraid, regardless of how nice it looks.
Arma 2 looks bland. Same shade of green for every sodding tree. This video: Wow. Just wow.
I can't wait to have a fuck around with this engine when they release the SDK for it.
Oh jesus...
holy shit the nightvision
They might have left the GI bright for the video as well. When creating caves in Cryengine you have to bake the GI before it looks good. Otherwise it's just plain SSAO and ambients that get applies.
Hello surgically detached from brain person, it's called Sandbox 2 and ships with Crysis.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang son
Hello surgically detached from brain person, it's called Sandbox 2 and ships with Crysis.
I think he means CE3 Sandbox, 'cause well, we're talking about CE3 after all, right?
They didn't really show anything particular CE3 specific. There was like a 2 second glimpse at GI bounces but that was it. I guess the water dynamics thing was really cool.
The caves sold me. This looks amazing.
Dem outdoor environments.
It's not voxels its metaballs. And this has been in since the first release of Crysis.
Are you fucking stupid? It's voxel-based with iso-surface generation. It's exactly the same method as metaballs but it's not in any way similar visually.
