Wouldn't be surprised it's this way either because of Valve busy with DOTA2/CS:GO or just ran out of ideas to do promo stuff. Then again the 2011 holiday sale was kinda bullshit.

I wonder if steam badges are the first step to the "reward good community members" idea that gabe talked about some time ago. I hope they'll add more harder badge to get, that could earn you coupons or permanent -X% in the store. Might be cool.

At the very least I wish they'd open up to networks other than Facebook. I wouldn't mind linking Twitter up, for example, since I actually use Twitter. That, or a probably-much-preferred opt-out function that makes Steam stop asking you about Facebook every time you load up your community home, hides the "upload to facebook" on steam screenshots and acts as though you have it linked for events like this. So many people create throwaways for events like this, it's a wonder Valve still bother - if someone wanted to link their account permenantly they'd have done so by now.

I assume we have to vote after the new deals start; so to get the badge we'd have to vote on the next community choice.
The last badge didn't unlock for me either and voted everyday. Some of my friends have the final badge tho.

You have to have voted after 10am PST for the last vote for the badge to update, otherwise you'll need to wait until the next vote
