You might think so, but the only think I like in the beta is the achievements and the scoreboard. The rest is a pile of s**t.
Did you ever think that you could be the minority?

You got to admit though that its a bit to fast paced now. Slow the player to original speed, add jump slowing things again so you don't get jump spammers, then it would be much better.
So it's the same game only with more reasons to be an elitest asshole... Dandy
so it's the same but with a bit better graphics, some stats and achievements. So it's the same in gameplay.

No, its game play is now TF2 with better graphics...

This is why it's a limited beta. Voice that opinion on the steam forums with the rest, as I guarantee the point of it being a beta is to make sure the community will be happy with the upgrade.
Also, some people may not realise, but these updates are more of a courtesy. Valve had to port CSS forward anyway to make it mac compatible, and they could have just done a bland, straight port.
Also, I'm expecting HL2, HL2DM and EP1 to be ported forward soon too, again, primarily for mac compatibility.

That is completely backwards.

I see why they done it, but I like the original game play, maybe they might make it less Team Fortressy and make it more Counter Strikey
This
Both of you grab a room and cry some more, jesus christ.
There any other noticeable gameplay changes other than a faster run speed and no jump slowdown?
Hard to think of what else they could do gameplay wise to change it up without upsetting thousands of sedentary crybabies.
I mean what do you 'hardcore' CS guys want out of an update, really?
Better graphics and models? Download skin backs.
It would be nice to see more interesting game modes, because right now the CS gameplay is not very intuitive.

It doesn't need to be. It's CS. All it needs is good, well balanced maps and balanced weapons. That's all a good competitive multiplayer FPS needs. They don't need to fuck it up by adding perks or personal airstrikes.
EDIT: And about the update: All I want from an update is that it fixes game breaking bugs that been there pretty much from the start (wireframe floor in D2 tunnels, anyone?), and at least attempt to improve the hitbox registration.

Wait, wait, wait, where did you get 'Modern Warfare 2' out of my saying 'intuitive'?
I meant more interesting game modes. As in something other than a glorified one flag ctf and on sided defense game.
This is a game about terrorists fighting counter terrorists. I'm sure they can come up with something a little more creative while still maintaining the classic CS essence.
But at least release it as Counter Strike OrangeBox or something, this is just a realistic version of TF2 (not realistic game play)
Or just let the server owners choose which version but the players only need the original CS:S.
Anyone able to tell me the subscription ID that was up (anyone whos in it and has a good memory)?
That way I can get a license to the game. If my idea works, then I can tell others how to get it.
domination and revenge? sounds gay. don't make css gay like they made tf2 gay
I didn't know games could have sexual orientations.
I just realized.
Does this mean Jigglebones? :buddy:
Ahh, Counter-Strike 1.6, how I love thee.
I downloaded this, played one game, topped the scoreboard with a K/D of 19 and 1. Same shitty game that takes absolutely no skill. The only reason my teammates were getting any kills themselves was because they could press crouch and mouse 1 simultaneously. Now with almost instant run acceleration, being a great bunny hopper no longer matters because anyone can do it, and they still haven't fixed the watermelon sized head hitbox.
Not much has changed.
that's disappointing :(
The following message is a burst of joy.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACHIEVEMENTS! FUCK YEAH
i don't know if anyone has mentioned it but there are mac binaries in the gcf. just saiyan.
Of course they're not gonna change the core gameplay or they'd alienate their playerbase.
I wish they'd change the ridiculous aspects of it though (Deagle being 50x more effective than an assault rifle, AK47s' first shot is 100% dead-on accurate, even from across the map, shotgun sniping, etc.)

A .50 slug could be far more devastating than your run-of-the-mill 5.56 FMJ round if it was a hollowpoint.
That is me trying to rationalize Counter-Strike.
Valve changes a few minor things, and now the whole community whines constantly about them. Movement speeds are fine, spread is fine, killcams are fine, achievements are fine, stats are fine, everything is fine. If you hate change that much go back to 1.6.
Also, be happy valve even did anything to CSS. They haven't touched it in years.
I can't seem to get the beta despite owning the game for quite some time. I love how that works. Every time I'm promised a beta I don't get it (Red Alert 3 special edition gaurunteed me beta access to future games, they released 2 since then), or when I'm a good customer and buying their stuff i don't get in the beta (Starcraft 2, have Starcraft Diablo and Warcraft series but that's not enough).
Anyways I was just curious, what exactly have they changed. Achievements are okay, and I can live with kill cams and that sort, but does anything change gameplay wise? And what does it mean by an engine update? Orange Box on CS:S now?
no i refuse. i bought css out of a box and i intend to have it kept that way no way did i subscribe to stupid steam to play their stupid games i bought it out of a box goddamnit and im not gonna have my game changed to be a pile of shit css is perfect
FFFFUUUUCKCK YOUOUOU VALLVE!!!!
hope they don't shit the game up like they did to TF2
Yeah, sometimes games are meant to be kept the way they are. This update might just fuck it over and kill the community. I know a good amount of FPers are rejoicing, however I can tell that most of the ones that are never played the game to its full glory. The game is fine the way it is, aside from graphical improvements and achievements I'm not really liking this future update.
