I agree that it's still cowardish, but you don't piss off an actual person because of it, so honestly I think that there is a big difference, and I don't really mind if people log off to avoid the most bugged out enemy in history of gaming.
Yeah true, though I prefer to fight off against a horde and try to survive / die fighting then disconnecting so I can keep a rifle you can get back easily in a day

Totally. It's very cheap, but it's nowhere near as bad as logging out in a firefight against other players. And by the sound of it, that's not what Luke did so I don't think it's fair to call him a hypocrite.
I honestly don't see the point in this when people are able to simply server-hop and teleport inside the boundaries of any sort of defense.
That, along with server-hopping to farm loot, is one of the reasons why I'm beginning to think that persistence across servers is not such a good thing.
Perhaps they could keep the persistence, but allow individual servers to choose whether or not they want the persistence on or off on their server. If it's off, then the data is stored separately from the other servers (maybe for a fee, since it takes more space?), and the characters are stuck to that server. Just an idea.
jesus christ calm down, I was complaining about one broken feature of the game. I realize it's an alpha, calm your tits.
It's just ridiculous how stupidly inane the average facepuncher actually is.
I am loving the M14 AIM.
Are you running the latest ArmA beta?
Nope, I am not. Where can I find the download for the Arma 2 Beta and instructions for installation?

Still not as bad as redit.

you can also vault over barbed wire, so no need for removing them
[editline]28th June 2012[/editline]
well I think so at least. if I remember correctly I did vault over some fence at a castle once
The PCgamer guy is fake, they're doing a "playthrough" in a private, locked server. This completely fucking ruins DayZ, its as if they're loot farmers.. wait no loot farmers are actually usually pretty decent at PvP nevermind that.
What if player position data was unique for each server? It would solve serverhopping to farm and you could check if the player already has a character, you generate a random spawnpoint further up north to prevent people from farming off players from the coasts.
You can vault over barbed wire that is not placed correctly, but if it isn't embedded in the floor, you won't be able to.

That's why you can generally vault over barbed wire while it's stuck in stairs and that sort of thing.

Yeah I don't understand people who log out in firefights, it's a survival game to see how long you can survive, you will ALWAYS die, if you log out to live another day doesn't matter, death is still waiting for you. Die on Tuesday, die on Thursday makes no difference
Chernarus please tell everyone else in our camp that I'm friendly and I gave us the jeep. I dont want to freak people out and get killed by my own supply
Breaking your legs while walking over things isn't normal
but on barbed wire it is.
Woo! just bought and installed the game! anyone have any ideas where to start? never played it before

i'm not seeing it?
If I ever got a party bus I would fill it to the brim with DMRs and L85s and drive around Chernarus giving them away to FPers.
i'm not seeing it?
They are saying it is now avalable, as if it was just released, when in fact it's been out for over a year, if not more
Just because of high sales for DayZ
You start at the coast. But no really go to barns, deerstands and when you get good enough loot, go to the airfield where it's likely you'll get shot. Repeat 'till you're bored.
any facepunch servers i can join?
