Says that making players start with almost nothing was an experiment in that, but there's a lot more that he wants done. Ideally he said something like how alliances and enemies and such work from a practical standpoint in EVE would be cool, but obviously done in a way that works for DayZ

Ha, found a tractor in a field, decided to have some fun with it and ran over a few dozen zombies. I set it back in place and run off, all sneaky like. I turn around and noticed it was on fire. I keep running away and hear it explode.

Man that sniper fucked us up. Good luck to those that are left there in that group we had in Elektro. I'll try to head back again.

Alright, I've gotten pretty use to the game by now, but I still have no idea on a few things. People won't really give a shit about you if you just don't shoot them, right?

I found 2 chopper crashes and with James' help got an M107 with 1 mag and a Bizon SD with 4. All in all I'd say that's a pretty damn successful day. Also, how do I talk over the mic? There's been way too many where I see someone and the only option is to just run away before I get dropped.

There are no friends on Dayz. It's a vicious circle of not knowing if the guy you see is going to shoot you, so you shoot him. I always shoot people unless they're unarmed.

Damn that was a good run. Group of two, then six, then eight. Then we all freaked out and died to a sniper while scavenging for food in a supermarket.

Me and a friend had recently been forced to fire rather loud weaponry at the powerplant north of Elektro, and because that has a tendency to attract unwanted attention, especially that close to a big city, we were in the progress of "cheesing it". Other than a dying flare near the powerplant it was pitch black. As we wander up the hill to the north of the powerplant I start hearing bullet impacts all around us. We both start legging it and quickly lose each other in the dark. I don't run far before I drop to the ground and crawl into the closest bush. I could hear the all too familiar sound of flies somewhere next to me, a survivor who had most likely perished far before this took place. My friend tells me he sees two survivors running up the hill we were on when they first started firing at us, which is somewhat close to where I'm currently proned. I decide to wait and see if they'll walk right past me. Surely enough I spot two siluettes against the night sky up on the hill infront of me. I fire off a few rounds to get their attention, hoping it'll prompt them to investigate. They disappear. I lie there perfetly still, looking up the hill where I had seen them. I periodically check the road on my sides and the slope behind me to make sure they aren't being clever. It remains quiet for at least ten minutes before I start hearing movement behind me. I turn around and see a siluette crouched where that corpse ought to be, only a few meters away from me. He must have thought I had bled to death. A few shots in the head, and he drops dead. His friend is still around though, somewhere out there in the dark. I didn't think his friend would make the same mistake, but moving now could give away my position and allow him to get me, so I remain proned and quiet. Another ten minutes passes before I suddenly hear reloading. I frantically look around, trying to pinpoint the origin of the sound. I spot discrete movement near the corpses. He had silently crawled up to his friends corpse, and appeared to be looking around for me. I quickly double check with my friend in case it might be him I'm looking at, then fire my last rounds into what I hope is his head. He's dead. And that's how I learned to stop crying about nights being too dark.

I really wanna be the type a guy who you trade spare ammo with, but I get the idea. So yeah, still don't know how to mic chat locally.

My guy decided it would be fun to go from shift-crouch walking mode to full on sprint for some reason and he ran off of a building. I left because I broke a bone and zombies were near me. Rejoined only to find out I had to await the hourglass timer while i slowly bleed to death. Fucking great. God damn, on the FP server I found someone using the female model and they didn't have a weapon, he/she wouldn't talk in mic or chat for some reason, then when we were in a place, someone ran in and shot me to death, but I think he stopped firing after he killed me, so they probably didn't shoot the other person, I think it was set up.

I decided to check out the fire station on the outskirts of Elektro for goodies. What luck, it also happened to be zombie free! So I try to go to the stairs and see what's there. Some asshat put barbed wire in the way. I grabbed an axe (I could reach it through the wire) and climbed to see if there's another way in. Finding no other way in, I grabbed what I could from the window. After grabbing all I could I try to climb down and fall a good distance after fucking up with the ladder. Broken bones and all, including 4000 or so blood. At this point I'm thinking of ending it all, but decided it would be more fun to see if I could make it. I couldn't find a ladder where I was, but I found a small tin ledge that would not hurt me if I landed on it, then on the ground. I seal-rolled from the sub-roof to the ledge to the ground. Little did I know that zombie spawns had kicked on while I stood at the top. 3 came at me at once, and luckily I still had my axe. Chop chop chop. Well, it wasn't as smooth as I make it sound. Now my visual is like some noire film shot by a midget with a camera that can't decide on a focus. Now I had but one objective: Crawl to the hospital. Took me about 10-15 minutes with all the detouring away from the "aimless" (fuck that even when they're not aggro they wander towards me) zombies, but I made it to the hospital. The axe once again saves the day with its silent swings, and I break open the windows. Luckily I find ONE injector in the entire bottom floor, and use it. Now to make my way out and look for some food to fix my screen. Crouch walking out, I alert some zombies who had now spawned in the previously zombie free part of my crawl, and I'm relegated to the roof of the hospital. I'm gonna need some cooked meat when I log back in. All this happened because some asshat blockaded the fire station stairs.
