Rocket literally could not give less FUCKS if someone metagames.

I just had one of the best experiences ever playing DayZ. Right now I've been alive for 12ish days or so, I have NVGs, DMR, Coyote Backpack, etc, pretty much everything I could ask for. So me and a few friends decided to head back to the South Coast a few days ago. However, shit went down and we all got separated. A few people died, one guy got teleported back 5km somehow, so we all just kinda went our separate ways. Well turns out, some of them spawned in Elektro, so I decided today to start making my way over there to help them out. On my way passing through North of Cherno, I see some guy in a field kneeling down (night-time server, make note), so I take out my DMR and I'm ready to blast him apart when I notice he only has a flashlight. I have a policy of not killing newly spawned people, so instead I decide to play a little prank. I walk down to where he is, crouch besides him, and let out a growl over direct comms. He growls back which I found pretty funny, so then I give it a few seconds, hes just still looking around at the industrial building in front of him, so I take out my PDW and let it rip on full auto right behind him, intentionally missing his head. After about 3 seconds he turns around and I'm just like "Hi" over the mic. He doesn't say anything, so I'm like "Hows it going?". He then responds "GOD DAMN MAN, that just scared the shit outta me!!" So eventually we start talking, and I learn he was looking for someone in that building who was shooting at him. I lob a grenade up there just because I can, and then we leave to go back down near the water. He tells me he has a few friends there, who have also just spawned, and they've managed to find a fucking PBX somehow. They invite me into their Skype call, so I do that then we meet up with them down by the Cherno docks. I offer to drive them up North, but first I notice fuel is low so we stop in the Elektro docks for half an hour to get some jerry cans and fuel them up. I encountered another player heading straight towards them, but I couldn't fucking see if he had a flashlight or a pistol in his hand. (Switched from DMR to L85A2 so I can cover the other 3 guys better using thermals.) I decide to just say fuck it, and shoot the guy anyways. I later learned the poor guy only had a flashlight and a few basic supplies. R.I.P. Elektro Docks Dude. We manage to get a bit more fuel and a jerry can, so we keep heading down the coastline, and eventually stop at Skalisty Island so everyone can warm up (it was nighttime and everyone was freezing) by a fire, and eat and stuff. We eventually leave that, and stop at a gas station a little further up the coast to properly fuel up our boat. I was the only one who had a weapon, so I just sat there picking off zeds while one of the other guys went back and forth between the boat, fueling it up to fuel with a jerry can. We eventually get it to full and refuel the jerry can, then head up to Guba Coast where we dock and head inland. I was the only one with NVGs, and I didn't want them emitting much light, so I just told them to keep directly behind me as we walk through the woods towards the NE Airfield. I take out my DMR again, and sit on the hill while I guide them towards the ATC and hangars where they find an AKM and a M1014. Then one of them breaks a bone and they're all starving so I run down towards the hangars after shooting a cow, where we have a nice fire and get the guy with a broken limb doped up on morphine. In the middle of all this however, I hear a sniper shot, and someone doing that "ahhhh....." sound outside the hangar, so we're like "fuck." One guy goes out, and gets killed by a horde of zombies. We salvage his stuff, then just quickly run out behind the hangar and run through the treeline up into the fields to the West, where we eventually stop on a mountain and everyone says good-bye, adds each-other on Steam and logs off. Quiet a long story, but that was just an incredibly awesome experience in DayZ. It just goes to show, if you have the opportunity to shoot someone but decide to give them a pseudoheartattack in real life instead, good shit can happen.

If you wanna talk with just your friends then go join a public server or something or ask Chenarus for your own passworded channel, if your gonna talk out in public about your location and be suprised that someone tracked you then your an idiot. It's like talking out loud in public where you put the spare key to your house and surprised someone robbed you. People are going to do it and if your gonna talk about where you are with other people in the channel then you know the consequences, shitting up the thread isn't going to make it magically go away so drop it, jesus

Is the water pump in Gorka suppoe to be unusable or am I doing something wrong somehow? I have an empty canteen but I can't refill it, there's no option when I'm near the pump.

[editline]7th July 2012[/editline] Also you can't fill it by using your mouse scroll, you have to fill it by right-clicking the water bottle in your quick-access inventory (not your backpack) like dogmachines said.

I was really doing it wrong, then. Good to know. Thanks to both of you! And I did not rage at all. In fact, I was pretty happy to have a ghillie suit and an AKM after less than an hour in. I still do not have a matchbox though. Oh, and I have a tent, but I guess there's no point in using it right now, I do not have anything worth keeping at the moment... I'm going to look for a better sidearm than this makarov, and possibly a better backpack... I am in love with this game.
