woah what happened? I'm seeing all this talk of ghillies suits/camo lost/ lost gear Are ghillies going to be removed next patch or something?
Maybe, Rocket said his method for ghillie suits/camo was too hacky and so he was probably going to disable them till they were properly supported in the engine, I'd show you the forum post but the DayZ site is down. Unless he managed to fix them that's probably what'll happen.
Lost my ghillie and now I am just in normal looks.

I think it will be nicer without Ghillie's. No more hidden snipers above Cherno and Elektro shooting at the noobs.
I think it will be nicer without Ghillie's. No more hidden snipers above Cherno and Elektro shooting at the noobs.
That's kind of damaged logic. DOUCHEBAGS USE A GUN TO KILL NOOBS? OH FUCK LETS REMOVE THAT GUN!
So is it safe to play if I already have a ghillie on or what?
So is it safe to play if I already have a ghillie on or what?
You'll just be invisible I think. But if you try and remove it or equip other clothing you'll lose your inventory.
You'll just be invisible I think. But if you try and remove it or equip other clothing you'll lose your inventory.
Invisible to myself or to other players aswell?
Invisible to myself or to other players aswell?
my friend spawned and he had a ghillie suit but when he spawned he was just wearing normal clothing. he wasn't invisible, he just lost his ghillie
Invisible to myself or to other players aswell?
Not sure, mixed reports on that by the look of it.
That's kind of damaged logic. DOUCHEBAGS USE A GUN TO KILL NOOBS? OH FUCK LETS REMOVE THAT GUN!
This is coming from someone who uses a ghillie to great effect in the gentree. I just don't think ghillie suits belong in a zombie game and I always assumed they were just a placeholder for a the clothing system.
That's kind of damaged logic. DOUCHEBAGS USE A GUN TO KILL NOOBS? OH FUCK LETS REMOVE THAT GUN!
Any douchebag can pick up a gun, only non-noobs can go out and find the Ghillies that are nowhere near spawn areas.
I'm new to this thing, and right now I'm trying to get it all up and running. I hope we can be friends if I meet any of you. :v:
I'm new to this thing, and right now I'm trying to get it all up and running. I hope we can be friends if I meet any of you. :v:
There isn't any nametags so your best bet for making friends is in Mumble or through sheer luck
Any douchebag can pick up a gun, only non-noobs can go out and find the Ghillies that are nowhere near spawn areas.
Ghillie suits spawn in both the major cities, which are both common spawns for players. I've found all my Ghillie suits in the apartment complexes in Chernogorsk. I agree with NoDachi: I hope that this Plainclothes -> Camouflage -> Ghillie Suit tier thing is just a placeholder for an actual clothing system. Something where you mix and match scraps of clothing to make you less noticeable to the human eye in certain settings i.e. darker tones of grays and such allow you to blend better in urban settings and earthier tones of greens and browns allow you to blend better in wilderness settings. This will be more like an actual apocalypse where an entire outfit will be hard to come by and instead you will just have bits and pieces of clothing to keep you warm/out of sight/whatever. Because really, how many people do you in post-apocalypse movies who don't look something like this?: [t]http://images.wikia.com/fallout/images/6/6c/Capital_Wasteland_Raiders.jpg[/t] (I mean, y'know, excluding the awkward body physiques.)
Ghillies/camo is going to be removed? That's bullshit. It works, then they break it, then they remove it instead of fixing it. I get that we're alpha testers, but that just seems illogical.

Correcting these awful desync issues is their top priority at the moment which they need to fix ASAP, but they don't want to keep a broken feature in the game so they're opting to remove it until they have time to correct it in a later patch (which will most certainly break something else, but hey it's a fucking alpha so whatever). Clothing will probably come back later when they have the time to sit down and fix the issue. Trying to fix it with the new hotfix would only extend the amount of time before we see the game in a playable condition (SERIOUSLY THESE DESYNC ISSUES ARE THE FUCKING WORST) and that's no bueno.
I lunged after an approaching zombie with my axe five times. Apparently I didn't hit it even though I heard the hit sound every time, it punched me ONCE and I fell unconscious and bled out (even though I had 11500 blood when it attacked). Seriously, how is this even possible?

Everyone knows that it's impossible to attack and move at the same time, so how the fuck did you manage to perform that feat, you fucking hacker?
...Everyone knows that it's impossible to attack and move at the same time...
It isn't?! Just move back or forwards and hold shift. You can move (slowly) and attack.
It isn't?! Just move back or forwards and hold shift. You can move (slowly) and attack.
That's walking, not lunging. My God son, learn your movement adjectives.
Hey, just a quick question, when ghille suits actually work, and you put one on, it saves it right? Like if you die, its still set as your skin?
So uh, everyone in eastern europe speaks russian as their main language? Drop the zeal, what part about eastern europe I do not understand when i simply state that chernarus, a fictious country, has the russians only as a minority, while majority of the populace speaks chechz? Edit: What is even your beef here? You're arguing that bohemia made a bad decision, when they didn't put your favorite language, russian, as the language of a country they made up, in their game they made.
Lack of realism kills immersion.
yay cutting more content! soon I'll log in with a stick as a weapon and a pocket as a backpack.
Is there any ETA on the hotfix? Not sure I am comfortable playing with invisible people roaming around...
You'll probably start swimming in the ground or get thrown out in the ocean still. Wait for official word on the matter. Such is life in Chernarus. I'll repost a semi old video of mine for dayz players
You made that? I use that a lot when trying to find the northern star
This whining and crying fuels my joy, keep it coming guys :v:
overcomplicated and ugly
There's nothing simple or pretty about the end of the world. Dividing a character's clothing into three or so pieces (head, torso, lower body) isn't complicated in the slightest. It's not like in an apocalypse you're going to find nicely packaged military-grade clothing in an abandoned apartment complex. This game is in alpha and is in need of more features. (I'm not an advocate for turning the game into a generic MMORPG, mind you, but there should and will be more to the game than there is now in the final version -- hell, even the beta version -- of this game.)
