Well obviously, but since we don't have root access to every dayz server it's the only solution
Yeah, the dayz team having root access to so many servers was a huge liability.
You haven't bought DayZ, you aren't entitled to anything. You just have to deal with the problems as they arrive, just as the dayz dev team are. It's also a beta patch, inconsistencies are expected.
No, but I bought ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead, so therefore i'm entitled to say something about the beta patches being released.
Not everyone always has time to update their server, hence the inconsistencies just after an update and such. Stop putting your server as the example of always being the best of the best all the time, it's getting tiring.
I don't think having time to update is the problem here, it's nearly every server that I'm getting stuck on, plus they all have plenty of players. Infact the only servers I can find that work have very few players, suggesting there's only a small minority of players/servers having this problem, i.e. we did something wrong.

Autoupdate scripts.
No, but I bought ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead for £25, so therefore i'm entitled to say something about the beta patches being released.
And have you played the base game at all yet, or are you just using the beta patches because you're playing DayZ? The lack of backwards compatability isn't a problem, it's a measure to stop things breaking. Without it, things would most likely be worse.

Yeah you are partially right, some DayZ servers are run on inferior hardware, or hosted on overloaded boxes and will therefore have terrible performance in most cases during high load situations. While it's a shame, dayz at the moment is very demanding on servers.

Yes, i've tried a few of the vanilla servers and gotten quite fond of one of the gamemodes, forgotten the name of it but still.
And seeing as me and many others on Facepunch only bought ARMA 2 for DayZ, we all use the beta because we're forced to, and having to constantly backdate and update to play on different servers gets annoying, it was easier when they had them all backwards-compatible, so you could grab the latest fixes and still be able to play on servers running older versions, it also meant server hosters could update at their own leisure, instead of being bombarded by players moaning their server is out-of-date.

The point is, they removed backwards compatibility because they had to, it's not something they do because they thought it "was fun".

In other news, I think I might put EU1-2 back up in the light of cheaters swarming other servers and some being incomprehensibly laggy.

I'll stop shitting up the thread now :v:

Profan you're going to need to get a new location ID, EU is obsolete they now do country code.

I figured as much, I'll consult rocket or someone about it in a moment.
Starting to find a lot more servers that don't get stuck on waiting for host now, Chernarus I think you were right after all.
How the hell do you guys find vehicles? I have never seen one on the FP server :v:
Not everyone seems to follow the country naming convention, bunch of EU tagged servers still left.
Yeah, Ander said something about blacklisting them in the near future via IRC. I'd just get a new country code.
Had an m1014, a revolver, allot of ammo for both. Met some kid, about 13 if you ask me, at the top of the hospital is cherno, he needs a blood transfusion, i didnt have blood but he did, so he said he dropped some and i couldnt see it or pick it up. He claims im bullshitting and kills me, without me even firing a shot at him.
Hes on US 639 if your wondering
How do I know what items/vehicles are going to get me banned? like if somebody hacks them in and I pick them up without knowing they're hacked in

Anything not on the wiki aside from pipebombs
Just had a good moment on a UK server. So i spawned in cherno ransacked the fire station and the store that is near it and found an alice pack and an M1911 with 5 clips. made my way into the pink building across the street found a dead guy with:
*M14A1 - 3 Clips
*Matches
*Map
*GPS
*Compass
*6 Raw Meat
*Toolbox
*Knife, hatchet etc
what a find that was only after about an hour of playing, so i made my way up into the forests gathered some wood and made a fire and cooked all the meat. Afterwards i circled round to Balota Airstrip. I didn't find anything useful but i was standing at the top of the ATC tower with my binocculors scanning the horizon and i spotted some guy running towards me.
I wasn't sure if he saw me or not but i ran into the forests north of the airstrip circling back round on him, eventually i caught up with him at the west side of the Air strip we both said we were friendly. He then swapped his hatchet he had equipped for a pistol and without thinking i unloaded my M4A1 into his head killing him instantly.
I don't trust anyone anymore especially since this is the first time i have had a GPS, afterwards i went back into the tree line about to make my way up to stary sobor and i looked back and saw some guy looting his dead body. He must have heard the gunshots, so i sneaked up on him and killed him as well
Sorry sam but you were a sacrifice the GPS demanded. why i do i feel like an evil bastard all of a sudden...
seriously though no other game can make me think and feel like DayZ does.
Everything's gone to shit after I installed that fucking Release Candidate, I re-installed the game, and installed Beta Patch 94876 to join a server me and a group usually play on, it keeps crashing on the loading screen with a picture of the tanks. What the fuck has RC1 done to my game.
Novy Sobor best spawn point ever.
was it any of you guys who just killed me at zelenogorsk super market
This game is the most fun I've had in any game for a long time. I think it's the social experience and the way the game works that makes for such fun scenarios. I like the finality of death, and the way that anything can happen. Although the game has it's bugs, I think it's still amazing (although last night 2 members of my team died from walking on debris).

My favorite story from DayZ
"Dude I'm not at airfield anymore"
"WTF why"
"Loot pile jumped up and killed me when I spawned"
Not sure which is more annoying, people who say 'alpha' anytime someone mentions a bug or people who say 'go back to callofduty' every time you mention killing someone.
What the hell, I either get stuck on waiting for host or my game completely crashes before I even get in the game....

Alpha.
Battleeye initilization failed on FP servers, wait for host on all others.
What the crap.
Moaning pageking.

Well, to be honest about the CoD part, I hope there will be some incentive to meet other people without constantly firing on sight in future iterations, and I also hope there will be a way to establish big camps. That way factions could form on servers overtime. You could have some interest in welcoming newcomers as much as you could profit in the short term by looting them.
-First time playing in 3 or 4 days
-Spawn outside Elektro with DMR, rangefinders, nighvision, the works
-"Oh shit, I forgot I had this stuff."
-Climb smokestack next to Elektro powerstation/firehouse to snipe
-Fall off the highest platform because the ladder glitched
-Amazingly, I only fall back down to the next platform w/ 5,000 health missing
-Stand up to bandage myself
-Fall off smokestack entirely
-Plummet to my death
-Spawn in Kamenka and equally terrible spawnpoints over a dozen times so I can't get my shit back
-Rage
