Why can there be a New York 1337 when we weren't allowed to call ours 1337 ? :(
I've come to the conclusion that Rocket hates us.
Course he could, and he could also just shut down dayz for good, doesn't mean either are a good way of retaining a fanbase.
If he's shutting down DayZ for good then why would he care about a fanbase for a game that no longer exists?
I just don't understand why so many people, like yourself, simply can't wrap their head around game development. You expect everything to be made ready instantly.
You'd think one of the prime concerns about a game concerned about realism and shit would be to get rid of cheaters, or at least help those that get fucked over by their game's piss poor anti-cheat [editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
If he's shutting down DayZ for good then why would he care about a fanbase for a game that no longer exists?
I'm just saying that if he were to reset characters, people would likely rage so hard they'd stop playing.
Y'all mad at our exodus
You'd think one of the prime concerns about a game concerned about realism and shit would be to get rid of cheaters, or at least help those that get fucked over by their game's piss poor anti-cheat
No the prime concern is actually building the game, content and features. But how do you know something isn't being worked? It's not a case of waving a wand and disappearing all the problems the game has overnight. Have you even seen the DayZ forums? There are literally hundreds of hilarious banned hackers crying their eyes out over wasting $30, only to get a permanent global ban.
I'm just saying that if he were to reset characters, people would likely rage so hard they'd stop playing.
People need to realise they're not 'playing' anything right now.
This hatchet kicks ass, I don't need no guns
Repost this if you are a strong beautiful survivor with a hatched who needs no gun.
Repost this if you are a strong beautiful survivor with a hatched and need no gun.
I was thinking the same thing :v:
I just walked by two Lee Enfields, a Winchester, a double-barrel shotgun, and ammo for aforementioned guns, in two adjacent barns. I passed on all of it because I figured my hatchet would be more useful where I was going. Not four seconds later, someone empties a Makarov magazine at me fom inside the barn, miraculously without landing a single hit. In a feat of rambling madness, I run around the barn, enter through the back, and cleave his back with my faithful hatchet. Hello, morphine and binoculars! I feel untouchable with this hatchet.
Is it true that alot more people are friendly on the FP server? id love to make that my main server but i always play on 25 player cap servers so i don't get murdered every 2 minutes for my beans.
You'd think one of the prime concerns about a game concerned about realism and shit would be to get rid of cheaters, or at least help those that get fucked over by their game's piss poor anti-cheat
The anti-cheat issue is with the Arma engine, not DayZ specifically. We all know that BattleEye is crap and that isn't Rocket's fault. Even if he were to make his own anti-cheat system it would still be limited because it would be part of the mod and not part of the engine/BattleEye. Also, alpha.
ive still only encountered one hostile survivor shot at me and my friend with a double barreled shotgun in the middle of a barn, got swarmed like an idiot then died every other one we've seen (or heard even) has been friendly, just followed us around (unarmed), or ran away from us
I can't even begin to describe to you how angry that makes me, not at the hackers, but at the piss poor way that Rocket and the entire dev team of dayz seem to be handling the problem of hackers. It is literally pitiful that they are completely letting the hackers win by not putting in some form of fail safe, like auto restoring a character if the entire server dies, or restoring a character if asked.
Alright Mr. Smart Game Dev, what could Rocket possibly do to stop hackers right now? I'd love to hear your amazing knowledge of ARMA 2 cheat prevention. And having a restore option is the worst idea ever.

Want to loot that tower? Crippled limbs stopping you from walking upstairs? No matter! Get on your (crippled) knees and vault up the the goddamn stairs on your broken legs.
DayZ patch coming today.
Ahahahah this was fucking glorious. We were driving the blue van towards a van and see a guy infront of us the driver managed to run over a guy and i managed to get out while driving breaking my bones but unloading half a svd mag into another guy. FUCKING AMAZING.
Me and Zircon just got ambushed and raped by two guys with a Blue Van and equipped with M240's :/
AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHxxx
Me and Zircon just got ambushed and raped by two guys with a Blue Van and equipped with M240's :/
Hello. it was totally unplanned and random. we saw you going into the barn and you shot at us ;-;
At least put out gear to good use. :downs: We honestly didn't think that you were FPers, and Luke suggested we "kill the car"...
Hello. it was totally unplanned and random. we saw you going into the barn and you shot at us ;-;
Only because you ran one of us over :c
let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the floor let the bodies hit the flooooaaar
I want to drive around again, it was brilliant when I first found a car in DayZ. Two survivors walking down the middle of the road and I drive up behind them. At the very last second they both split and went to the sides of the road and managed to avoid getting ran over by about 10CM or something. I later crashed into a tree and it blew up.

Because I can tell you right now that the correct answer is 'Tester'. You are not a player, because there is no game. There is a Prototype of a Mod-in-development called DayZ. You are testing this game and nothing more. Your input to this game and everything that comes of it (bugs, quirks, hackers found, loopholes, balance issues, and even public attitude towards things) are all assisting in the development of this game. Yes, thats right, even your bitching helps in a way. Not in the way that fixes the issues you're bitching about, but your bitching shows the mentality of people like you in the fanbase. The fact that you might maybe get enjoyment out of it is payment for your input. Product development is not easy and you cannot whine and piss your pants over these hackers and expect Rocket to read your post and be all "Oh man, shit sorry dudes here's the anti-hack you're looking for -shits antihack onto servers-" It doesn't work like that. If you're expecting it to work like that, then by all means continue to whine about it, but its not going to do anything other than make those you're whining around get real damn tired of listening to you.
So do I just need Arma 2 to play Day Z? or do I need one of these other expansions.

I don't believe you.
DayZ patch coming today.
Is Rocket even awake now? It's 2AM in New Zealand.
So do I just need Arma 2 to play Day Z? or do I need one of these other expansions.
You need ARMA2: Combined Operations, which includes ARMA2 (vanilla) and ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead, but if you already own ARMA2 (vanilla), you only need to get ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead.
