And if they see you and do choose to shoot you, you need to be able to be at a distance or behind suitable cover to which the fire will be ineffective. Simple shit like approaching them from down a street they're heading, peeking out with your gun down and leaning around a bit. If they immediately go gun-up and start shooting well then you should know what to do. Saying "HEY ANYONE IN ELEKTRO I'M HERE WITH AN AK AND COYOTE BACKPACK ANYONE WANT TO GROUP UP?" helps far less than actually finding people and meeting up with them. I don't miss sidechat at all, teaming up with somebody does not require the use of global chat.

OR if you notice that they've seen you and you're in the open you can try doing a little dance. Of course the chances of meeting someone who can shoot a damn past 100 meters is unlikely in DayZ, so again you yourself have the option to run away (and hopefully flank and kill the bastard).

Goddamn, I wish this bone breaking mechanic didnt exist, its turns something already tedious (crouch running everywhere and trying to sneak about) to an agonisingly slow existance.

Best airfield trip ever. Got a 30 slot pack, GPS, PDW w/ 6 mags and a fucking DMR. I'm happy.

You'll come to learn that it is more of a hinderance to use it then to just run at this state of the game.
