Nevermind..they did, but it didn't do enough damage to kill them X_X The traders killed them though.
Perhaps instead of killing my kidnapped traders I can use them in my army...
It is fiiinnnaaally complete.

Now if you could just take off the supports and have a floating battleship...
Oh wow, an Orc siege just after I drove away the last ones.
I didn't realize I had built my barracks outside the lockdown area, so the invaders charged inside on the sleeping marksdwarf squad while being peppered by wooden bolts from above by my hunters.
They woke up in the screams of their comrade with all limbs mangled and spine torn out by an Orc wrestler. They managed to kill nearly half of them, including their leader, before running out of ammunition and charging into the battle using their crossbows as clubs.
They were only recruits :ohdear:

Migrants. Two Hunters conscripted immediately, one Miller and one Potash Maker are off to farming.
I clearly need to start a metal industry, since I got two metalcrafters more and a furnace operator.
I have an idea for an arena for captured monsters.
Basically, three are thrown into a maze from three different points. They then have to race to the door (which is cage trapped to stop any escapees), avoiding the various weapon traps along the way. The first one to get there triggers a pressure plate which locks off the tunnels for the other two and floods them. The one who "wins" gets caged again to go in next time. The other two drown.
God, I'm doing this.
Oh shit what the fuck
My animal trainer, who has been fainting every now and then from the wounds he got when fighting a buffalo, and tantruming because his wife died in the last siege, got a Fey Mood.
Awesome.

And I lost. It would have been an easy victory, but the guy who was supposed to be installing the door that would have stopped them decided it was prime time to fall asleep.
I'm going to have to do the arena thing without the water; there's no way to drain the water out afterwards. Instead the losers will have a path opened right into a load of weapon traps. Or should I just leave them to starve?
Just leave them there for the next occupants to fight.
I visited my site as an adventurer, killed an axe lord by throwing a bolt at him.
Killed another by throwing a steel bolt, but a wrestler threw me at a wall and I blew up :(
Time to go in as a marksdwarf. This fortress will not be easily cleansed!

I managed to drain the pool an artificial waterfall makes without the use of complex screwpump systems. First I embarked on a place with a tall waterfall, then the idea is to drop the water from the high river down into the fort, that generates mist, then it drains into the river below.
Some screenshots of it, from highest Z-Level to lowest:

I would love to see a feature where captured goblins and such could become slaves, proforming mindless task such as working pumps. Then the loser could be used for whatever you need.
I'm not next to a huge waterfall though D;
I'm just going to trap the escape path once the safe path closes.

How do you make them clean the damn Butchers?!

How about a Dragon?
How about a Dragon?
That's is a useful substitute with only three drawbacks
1: You have to capture a dragon in the first place.
2: You have to let it out to do it's job then capture it again.
3: You have to have a dragon in your fort.
I don't suppose anyone is willing to part with a successful save for me to piss about with? :D
I haven't played the game much yet, but here is a question.
Can you make a trap for enemies, so when they come, some dwarves open hatches and water floods the entrance?

That looks really nice!
Ok, shall I set up the Succession game then?
I'll make a new thread for it so the posts don't clutter it up.

Please do. Count me in.
My crossbow-maker built a bowery that trapped her in the room, huh.
And are natural floors subject to cave-ins?
