Dwarves move bins around automatically. You don't use caskets for dead people, you use coffins. Then you build with [b] -> [N], finally you designate it to be used for burial.
Or caskets...
It'd be nice if I could play.. with 40d13, when I open the designations menu it locks up and thinks the mouse is held down. I've tried everything.
yeah I had that problem, although only happens some times.
I am making a mod. After playing DF for a long time, dating back to the time of murderous elephants and savage mandrills, i kinda miss the ultra-difficult DF. So now, i am embarking on a perilous journey from which i perhaps never will return. I'll take your suggestions on how to make DF piss-difficult again. How we will fear the winters, hordes of murderous creatures, how sieges will make us soil our sweaty gamer pants and how mysterious monsters will appear at random to ravage and destroy our not-so-tough-anymore hovels. This mod will not just add a savage entity (no disrespect to dig deeper, it is a great mod that i use myself) to make the game tougher, i will try to alter many aspects of the game to make it less user-friendly and more like the DF of old that we remember with teary eyes. So why am i bragging about it here? Well i want your suggestions. How would you like me to alter the game, what beasts would you like to see raiding your food storages whilst saving a few tasty dwarves for desert? What aggressive raiders would you have roaming the unforgiving wilderness looking for some fresh dwarven booty? Meh, just give suggestions plx
New update on the site guys. A teacher system. http://bay12games.com/dwarves/dev_now.html
Woah, I didn't expect that.

How do I get metal ore? I can't seem to be able to find any.
Make fluffy wamblers breath fire.
What about firebreathing boozewranglers? They'd be fucking suicidebombers, if someone tried stopping them from stealing the booze they'd blow themselves up and everyone around them.

Gee thanks, I totally didn't check the wiki. I've been digging through an entire fucking stone hill yet no ore has been found.
Sounded rather sarcastic there for a moment.
I was referring to the poster that just pointed me to the ore article.

I never tried adventurer mode, is it fun?
I never tried adventurer mode, is it fun?
It takes a little while to get the controls down, but once you do it's very immerse.
How do I get rid of Miasma in subfloors can anyone help it's pissing me off
How do I get rid of Miasma in subfloors can anyone help it's pissing me off
If your refuse pile is underground you could make a special room for it with multiple doors so it doesn't get out. Miasma goes away eventually unless something keeps producing it.
-snip- solved thanks zip
I was expecting this adventurer to die soon, i'm running around slaugtering skeleton wolves with 6 other guys. So far I killed a Giant and a cyclops, and found my old dead adventure's corpse. I need some advise before I go kill another giant, his cave is in middles of a evil zone, should I go there or should I play smart and don't go after this kill, I already have another mission to kill a cyclops on the north side of the map which is in a safer zone. Heres my character. In my group I have a bowman, weaver, swordsman, spearman, and a hammerman, I think my maceman was eaten by carps while the rest of us were fighting skeletons.
Do you guys like my living quarters setup?
Do you guys like my living quarters setup?
It's alright apart from the proximity to the workshops, making noise and whatnot.
It's alright apart from the proximity to the workshops, making noise and whatnot.
Yeah, but they do get to work faster.
To be honest I hardly ever care about the noise factor anyways, just mentioning it.
I can't figure out how to make my dwarves actually do something. I press D then Press d for digging and I press enter and then when I press Space, It disappears.
you have to press enter twice, maybe that's your problem.
What's a good setup for a fortress do you guys think. I just abandoned my old fort, which gave me the basic works on how to make a fort, and I need a good idea before I actually build it. I was thinking the first floor has a long southward hallway, with four branches to different workshops, in which one would include a trade depot. I was thinking the second floor would fork into a living quarters on one side, and a stockpile storage on the other. What am I missing
Finished it.
