Elven Caravans can go royally fuck themselves, I don't need them.

Well I don't steal from caravans but the wood only costs 5. I can usually buy an entire caravan worth of equipment with giant spider silk clothing.
They're mental for giant spider silk.
Any way I can find some easy to dig walls? I hate digging trough rocks and it takes too much time.
I remember when I first played the game I had an excellent spot but deleted the save afterward.
You could make your fortress in dirt but that's kind of stupid since you can't smooth or engrave it.
I'd just bring some decent miners with me if I were you.
Sometimes my dwarves have these arrows that go down.
Blue, red, brown.
What do those mean.
Blue is Dehydration. Red is unhappiness. Brown is hunger.
What the hell? Why am I being rated funny I don't even
Water, happy happy funtime and food okay.
snap I just made a new game and I'm running out of food D:
Get some farms up and growing Plump helmets.

Well, you can always dig one z-layer below the surface. It's usually all clay, sand, and/or loam, so it's easy to dig and a great way to train your miners.
900 x 600 (yes NINE!)
is the best resolution IMO, it's in proportion and is nice and big.
Oh and Kwal I USE A TILE SET AND HAVE NVER LOOKED BACK.
gaming leetist. when will people learn DF is more about the sould than the body.
the game is what the player makes it, not the graphics. Tilesets are just a personal prefenrece. People use em for the same reaons they use skins in TF2.
Come on, to be fair kwal hasn't even mentioned tilesets in a while.
Why not drop it?
I personally don't like the tilesets because I don't understand fuck of pictures with them enabled. Symbols are much easier.
he was really having a go in the suceession game thread.
Besides it's funny to read how people react to these things.
My mighty adventurer was slain along with his 5 buddys in a cyclops cave when we found out there were two more cyclopses moving in on us. Also I started a new fortress, and figured out why furinture would never stop flashing, fucking rocks.
Wait, I'm confused, so do I download both the latest 3D version and the OpenGL or just the OpenGL version?
I don't even know what OpenGL means :v:
God damn it. Every time I open the designations menu it thinks the mouse is held down so I can't do anything.

yeah I had that problem, although only happens some times.
I usually press o, and wiggle my mouse in and out of the designations window. It will fix itself.
This. When you're digging tunnels and mining shafts, if you hit a metal ore or a gem, it will announce it by a message like "You have struck hematite!" or "You have struck rubies!". Sometimes it announces useless stones aswell, like bauxite, so remember to check what the newly found stuff is if you don't know what it is.
Bauxite, useless?

Tilesets suck with mods.
is there a material that doesn't melt when touching magma?
Zezi just mentioned it.
Bauxite

Or adamantine lol.
Graphical tile-sets are for people who can't play.

For me, I have never played in lava maps.

It's good for beginners, later on the game you can just download the old one.
You guys are being butthurt over nothing.
I just started and it looks pretty to me, seems simple also.
How can I locate my fortress on the world map? I want to visit it with an adventurer but don't know where it is.
[editline]10:15PM[/editline]
Also how do I exit the labor menu when viewing the dwarf so I can see his skills and strenght and stuff?

You have to abandon your fortress, it will be on the world map where you embarked, so you will just have to remember where you were.
On the world map, where you previously embarked is greyed out with N's I think.

Strange because I played dwarf fortress for about a year before actually changing to a tileset out of boredom.
God people need to shut the fuck up about tilesets. There's hardly a difference in gameplay, it's personal choice.
Jesus guys who gives a fuck whether or not people use a tileset. Well, apart from you anyway.
But it shouldn't matter as long as you can play it and understand what everything means, I myself use a tileset because I found the prospect of learning what EVERY SINGLE TILE in the normal game quite overwhelming.
Why won't anyone butcher the fucking animals designated for butchering? Do they have to be caged or uncaged?
