Holy fuck I just did it after like 3 failed experiments. So it kinda looks like shit now: Well at least it works.
On the subject of tilesets and ASCII, I used ASCII for a 3/4 of a year or so. I hated the way buildings looked, because they were all elongated and not completely square.
I felt the same way. Over a period of time, it just started to make me rage. So I downloaded Hanuman's set. It's the same thing as the original ASCII, but it's all just squared. [editline]10:39AM[/editline] broke my automerged
My Craftdwarf went berserk and killed everyone, and I had such an excellent spot. Loosing isn't fun after all :(
My Craftdwarf went berserk and killed everyone, and I had such an excellent spot. Loosing isn't fun after all :(
yes it is. just enjoy the carnage.

Thanks Kwal for reminding me to switch to a square set.
I know it's getting annoying, but I really can't fix my res issue, I want the game to be around 1024x768 (Has to be a little bigger for a tileset I want, cant remember the res), anyway, no matter what I do I can't get it right, either it's a big box with a tiny DF game window inside it or it just gets streched to hell. I'm stupid, help me out here! :saddowns: [editline]09:47PM[/editline] Also, I enjoy looking at the pictures of your forts guys, even though I do not understand what the fuck is supposed to be what, I can still get a rough picture of what it looks like. What I'm trying to say is, keep posting pictures.

I can't do that when I scroll. [editline]09:57PM[/editline] HOLY BALLS, I think I fixed it. It is small in the menu but when you get ingame it looks ok, I remember putting the grid size for a res of 1680x1050 but not changing the res from 1024x768. :dumb: It works now, the best thing right now would be if I could get a guide that shows me what grid size I need for each res. But yeah, took me a good 2-3 days to fix it but now I AM READY TO PLAY! [editline]09:59PM[/editline] [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/Imagehosting/pics/0d8c7a9fe726f3fe7cdccedac65a65c2.jpg[/img_thumb] This looks alright doesn't it? [editline]10:00PM[/editline] Clicky for full picture.
Yep, you got it. nice isn't it, being able to see everything?
Sure is! It's midnight, but I just have to try this, you'd think I'd turn into a graphics whore with my new rig (been playing all next gen games and everything all summer), but I find this.. somehow, very appleaing, since I can imagine my own little place, I can see it, even though I haven't made it. THIS IS SO COOL! :v: [editline]10:39PM[/editline] So, I'm stuck already, in the tutorial I'm about to learn how to buy skills and stuff but I don't know how to access the skills screen, I only get confused by the tutorial. Quote from the tutorial: "The embark screen opens up on the skills screen, and can be changed to the items screen by pressing TAB" What does it mean? I'm kind of confuzzled here.
What does it mean? I'm kind of confuzzled here.
If you choose to "Prepare for the Journey", you'll be taken to the screen to purchase skills for your dwarves. If you press Tab, it'll switch to items.
When you choose your starting location, pick "Prepare for the journey carefully".
Oh, guess I'll have to restart then, thanks to both of you. But I'll leave that for tomorrow.
Holy crap, make the immagrants stop! 3 groups of them in one season, putting my fort up to 30, I don't even have enough food or beer for my original seven.

Xera, this isn't a thread f-DAAAWWWWWW :3 [editline]07:52PM[/editline] This poor sap of a dwarf went mad and now he's crawling around the desert butt naked with a trail of stray dogs following him. This isn't going to end well...

First, obviously, set the window res in your init.txt/ Lets say for example your tileset is 8x8, if you want DF to run at 1024x768 in you init/init.txt file scroll to your GRID settings and we use a little math: 1024 / 8 = 128 768 / 8 = 96 GRID = 128, 96
Poor guy...
Why? All they're going to do is give him hugs and kisses, right..?
Why? All they're going to do is give him hugs and kisses, right..?
Actually, I was hoping he'd run into a buffalo and be smashed into dwarf chunks which would then be feasted on by the buffalo and dogs. And possibly the dwarves because I am having a slight food shortage.
God damn it, I started without an anvil and then a bit later I strike a shit ton of platinum and malachite.
I had 3 recruits and they became champion wrestler instantly, then I found out why it happened so fast, their women....
Hahaha, midget catfight.
Jesus Milhouse Christ, first immigrant wave gets 23 in one go. [editline]12:41AM[/editline] Are there any real drawbacks to training wrestling first for the military? The clothes everywhere seems to only be a minor inconvenience.
Can you attach a lever to multiple objects, like 2 floodgates? And how do you make your recruits guard one place?
Can you attach a lever to multiple objects, like 2 floodgates? And how do you make your recruits guard one place?
1. Yes 2. Set his station to that place.
1. Yes 2. Set his station to that place.
Okay thanks. Great, 4 of my dwarves, I only had 7, died from a sturgeon, almost instantly as they touched the water. That is so unfair as it is the only source of water I have.
If you're in a temperate environment then they'll all die from the freezing.
