I'm currently making 2x2 bedrooms :downs:
Can somone tell me please how can i build a wall... I wanna close rooms with doors but its a big place to a door.. so how can i build a wall?
To build a wall press 'b' then 'C' then 'w' NOTE the C is case sensitive.
[b]->[C]->[w]
May god bless you all. [editline]05:41PM[/editline] It dosent make the wall.. it only does a white circle and none brings the wall there... how do i remove it? and if i need to actually build the wall, what workshop name i need to build ? [editline]05:45PM[/editline] Ok it came.. and it sucks it dosent look like the wall i mined.. how can i remove it?
The little white circle is the build order, once built it will look like a pair of lines or a circle depending on the presence of adjacent walls. to remove a built wall 'd' then 'n'. Smoothing a stone wall will make it look like a built wall (which can be dug out later).
why the fork is it not possible to engrave buildt walls?
You need to smooth them first.
You need to smooth them first.
I meen the walls you build, they are already smoothen but i can't engrave them
Are they made of stone? You can't engrave any other kinds of walls.
Are they made of stone? You can't engrave any other kinds of walls.
I'm not a new player, YES they are made of stone and they are smoothed but you can't engrave them, YES i did wait for my engraver to finish the entire room he engravel ALL NATURAL stonewalls. I don't understand why you can't engrave the ones you build.
There's a lot of cloth laying around my fortress. How can i store them in bins?

You aren't getting what he's saying, he is simply wondering why you can't engrave constructed walls, only natural walls.
Just trying to help here. I assume your engravers are jobless?
Sorry. Correct.
Aw hell, I was feeling risky so I decided to try a game in a Terrifying area, before I could even get some stockpiles set up we got dominated by a skeletal giant eagle :(
That's bad luck, you probably could have survived if one of those things weren't on map and it was just standard terrestrial skeletons/zombies. Giant eagles are one of the deadliest creatures in game, and skeletal versions = run the fuck away. I'd take another shot at it, terrifying biomes can be pretty fun.

Yeah I'll give it another go, there's some things I'd have liked to have changed before starting anyways. Also Libertas I thought I read somewhere that shooting skeletal beings is pretty much useless because of the whole "they only have bones" thing
why the fork is it not possible to engrave buildt walls?
I'm guessing he forgot to add it or it's because else you'd make a line of wall, engrave it, take it down, build again, engrave again.
why the fork is it not possible to engrave buildt walls?
I think Toady added that in the next version, not sure.
I was bored so I started in a goblin tower as humans and dug out one of their towers, 20 goblins dead.
Embark with a marksdwarf. Only option with flyers really.
skeletal eagles nudge off bolt like they're pebbles.
Would this be an ideal way to start? I edited the game so I could see where the best metal on the embark menu.
At the start of the game, 2 battle axes aren't necessary (unless you have 2 woodcutters?) I really recommend you get a cat as vermin are a problem without one. And if you want more dogs over time you need to get two of them so they can reproduce and that stuff. You also might want to get more meat/food unless you plan on setting up a farm the instant you start playing. Other than that I GUESS you could go out with that stuff, but the sword and shield are somewhat unnecessary (just my opinion).
I usually embark with at least 1 of every food that costs 2, plump helmet seeds, lots of turtle/cave lobster if available (shells), all the available alcohol, 2 ropes for wells, 7 picks (I make everyone miners so I can set up base very quickly, and later on it makes things a lot easier having 7 legendary miners) 1 cat, and if its dangerous, 2 war dogs.
How can you design a magma pump without killing the pumper? And do you also need magma-safe materials?
You don't need magma safe materials but I'm not sure about the pumper.
