Dwarf Fortress - Mom, why are those Elves eating each other?
I tried starting a fortress on a 2x2 plot. Two of the starting seven were dragged into local pools of water by carp within 10 seconds of starting.
I thought carp's natural habitat was in rivers only?
Mod?
Mod?
Who would want to mod that in, that's just horrible.
No.

You obviously have never seen my Land Carp

Murky pool carps sounds kinda fun.
Hey, in wrestling in Adventurer mode, what do I do after grabbing someone?

That's not so bad, carps' strength lies in their ability to both drown and over-exert. Maybe if you made them swim in magma.

oh god

You should bash your opponent first a bit, so that the limb becomes damaged. After that, grab the limb, lock it, and break it!

Fear the admantine skeletal landseawolf.
I built a simple "buffer" area, which is basically a hallway narrow enough for wagons to go through it and reach the depot. The floor has been channeled and digged all the way to the lowest Z-level, and replaced with a bridge. When they go through, I just simply lock them there and with just pulling a level, the entire caravan meets upright spikes at terminal velocity. Perfect when there's no magma nearby and you want to get some stuff from those stuck-up elven faggots.

It was right next to a river. They were in every pond and along the whole river. It was carp-hell.
I've had a map full of carp in pools before, one of my dwarfs went fishing and got eaten.
My bowyer just got struck by a strange mood and made a blowgun. I mean a blowgun... how awesome is that.

Dam it I just read that dwarfs are not able to create darts for the blowgun in fortress mode.
[editline]04:31PM[/editline]
Also my bowyer is legendary + 1 :D
I just got a warm welcome to the harsh reality of Dwarf Fortress.
I was trying to make myself a nice waterfall. My miner channels the wrong piece of cavern at the wrong time.
Result?
One miner falling into a pool of water and drowning due to a cave in
The rest of my fort being fatally flooded
Me facepalming myself out of my chair

Any way to stop these annoying "Cat could not store item in stockpile: Too injured" messages?

Don't designate your cat's for item hauling?

dig a channel, dig a channel above that channel, build a drawbridge at the bottom of all those and link it up. Desegnate the topmost hole a pit pond. assign some cats to it. pull the switch twice. One to obliterate, one to destroy the atoms.
I just had my first siege recently. I was terrified. But i had a tower set up with archers in it. THree legendary champions hiding just inside the entrace and all the rookies hiding behind a wall just outside it.
The archers killed the leader and the fled, nobody died. We lost more dwarves to an ambush ealier that year.
Oh goddmanit i am getting tired of these constant goblin sieges.
They leave a mess outside my fort.
They din't even get close to the traps since my champion decided it would be a good idea to get water during the siege.
[editline]06:45PM[/editline]
I would be pleased if i could loot their armour and equip it with all my military dwarves, but they are just too goddamned narrow.
Aren't you meant to edit the Cat's file to say "This creature can haul stuff"? I remember the wiki saying something like that.
No new devlog update today :(

If you play the newest version, D16, then you won't be spammed with the message, otherwise you have to fix it yourself.
There's an article on the wiki on it.
EDIT: NINJAED! :downs:

This is awesome bug :buddy:
"oh wait i'm a cat I don't have hands"
lol
I just dont even notice this bug anymore since I ignore all those messages. Still funny though, I've always liked how the wiki described it.
Anyway to make tweaked work with maydays version? I tried and it doesn't work.
and yes mayday's is ugly but it works.
I really am pissed about how every inch of cave I dig it's filled with stone, wtf am I suppost to do with all that stone?

launch it out of catapults and making things like thrones and tables out of it. I never ever use wood chairs, wood it to valuable to waste in chairs and tables, stone is perfect.
Stone in your hallways looks ugly but it's actually practical since there is always some close to a workshop.
Yea but I end up having to make a huge store of it outside because my WHOLE fort is covered in it, and my dwarfs wont build things where a stone is so they always get pissed and are too dumb to move the stone first.
You can also hide the stone or any other items so you can't see them.
how exactly do I hide it?
Most of us avoid stone stockpiles as a rule due to the fact that there is so much of it. But having a small pile by the workshops that use it (often set to one type of stone only) can make the workshops more efficient or ensure that it only makes products out of one of stone.
Building awe inspiring mega-structures out of it is a good way to use lots of it up.
