I love reading this stuff.
I could always just dump it in a chasm or build giant castles with it.
Most of us avoid stone stockpiles as a rule due to the fact that there is so much of it. But having a small pile by the workshops that use it (often set to one type of stone only) can make the workshops more efficient or ensure that it only makes products out of one of stone. Building awe inspiring mega-structures out of it is a good way to use lots of it up.
-> [d] -> [h], I believe. I could be wrong.
b is build, d is door. so build door?
-> [d] -> [h], I believe. I could be wrong.
If you are trying to help BlueSaint with hiding items, you where close. The correct key combination is: [d] -> -> [h]

"You have struck adamantine! Praise the miners!" FUCK YEAH! EDIT: [sp]You have broken into a peculiar chamber through the base of the mountain.[/sp] FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK

Do dwarfs take breaks without party rooms? I have one carpenter/woodcutter that is extremely stupid. I have designated LOADS of trees outside to cut, and he just sits there. I also checked his "gen" tab thing and it says No Job. What the fuck? [editline]07:13PM[/editline] Oh fuck does he need an axe?
The epic fortress that has a suicide swich. Built over a chasm with a support on the side, what happens when that stupid theif decides to pull the lever? The whole fortress goes down.
Make a dump zone. You can put as much stone as you like in one tile. 1. Press [i], make a 1-tile square by double-pressing Enter 2. press [g] to make it into a garbage zone, press Space to quit to main view 3. [d] > > [d] 4. select some stone to dump with enter like you would a mining zone or something, they should turn magenta The dwarves will haul the highlighted stone to the dump zone in time. Stone that's marked for dumping won't be used in workshops. To remedy this you need to reclaim the stone in the dump. 1. [d] > > [c] 2. Select an area that covers your dump
Shit this sucks. When I saw battle axe I assumed it meant BATTLE axe, not an axe for cutting trees. Fuck Fuck Fuck. [editline]07:19PM[/editline] Is there anyway I can "cheat" to add an item?
Trade for an axe from some merchants. If they are human you could even steal the axe! also if you have found copper or iron ore and still have the wagon or have magma you can make an axe. The only other way that I know of (including cheats) without starting a new fort, is to hope that a immigrant comes with an axe (rare) or from an invader.
So how would I be able to cheat? It's not fair the game mislead me >:(
tweaked.
This thread... is alive? Did the new version finally come out or something?
which 1? 40d or 40d16
Love this game. My fortresses are never really successful, though...
This thread... is alive? Did the new version finally come out or something?
Nope, the old version had a birthday recently though :v:
This game is too easy. I always make perfect fortresses with ecstatic civilians even though I act like the Hitler of DF.
Nevermind, i will install a graphics set.

[editline]07:19PM[/editline] Is there anyway I can "cheat" to add an item?
Your dwarves use the same axes to fight as they do to cut trees. If you want to give the axe to a soldier, remove the woodcutting labor from the person who picked it up then tell your soldier to pick it up. Anyway, I started a new fortress as humans. I've built a large portion of the village, and have begun construction of the castle which will overlook it. The mayor and soldiers will live in the castle, while the pitiful serfs will have to live outside in the un-walled village. The only digging I'll do will be to collect stone for the castle and ore to forge weapons. I'm sure the game will be harder when I can't just have a 3 tile wide entrance with a moat and drawbridge as the only entrance.
So I was wondering how do I get them 3D-ish textures instead of the ASCII style?
Umm... *cough*? :gonk:
Umm... *cough*? :gonk:
get out, we dont like them three dee texturs 'round here,
Umm... *cough*? :gonk:
You don't. They don't exist.
I said -ish. Well, shouldn'tve said tri-mension stuff... Improved Graphics would have been way better... :bang:
I said -ish. Well, shouldn'tve said tri-mension stuff... Improved Graphics would have been way better... :bang:
no they wouldnt
What wouldnt? I meant that I should have used Improved Graphics instead of 3D-ish textures.... But I don't think that's accurate either =|
The graphics can't be improved, they're perfect.
