Pretty small and disappointing update for such a long time since the last one :(
I think the raw entries makes up for it.
Is there a way to get tweak to work with version: 40d16 see: if you have any questions. http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/User:Rick/Tweak The only solution I see is to downgrade to 40d. Because no one seems to be trying to help with this question I will post it again, third time.
There is no suport for tweak with 40d#. However after a 5 minute search I found this: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=41783.0 So you can get the reveal function from another utility that does work for 40d16 from this link but none of the other functions. Direct download link for reveal2. http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1044

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=1044
I just wanted the tile changing thing to get through a aquifer and stuff, but anyway I got this: http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/~mayday/upload/DFG18.zip It's the 40d version of maydays thing, because everytime I try to add a tile set and graphics to my dwarf fortress I always get it to only start in windowed, it starts black, has sound but is pure black. :( Ok that's 40d11, im pissed, time for v 17.
I'm trying to get into this again, for the third time.

I have recently started a dwarf fortress game and so far it was quite successful. My fortress has advanced far enough for the sheriff to be promoted into the captain of the guard, and a few other nobles to come over. I have a few questions that deal with creating appropriate offices for them, at the moment nearly all of them request better living environments, would anyone happen to know how to advance their living environments to "Office" or "Decent Office"? The nobles appear to be quite happy at the moment but this situation may change if their living environments are not improved. The situation at the military is doing quite well as well, i have a decent amount of champion wrestlers, and legendary wrestlers. I was wondering weather it is necessary to actually give them training with weapons, or are they strong enough to take enemies down barehanded? (this is my very first time where i have managed to advance my fortress up to this level with no major problems).

The larger the rooms the better the quality. Also, put expensive furniture in there. For example gold statues or platinum chests make wonders. Although the first nobles you get don't yet demand rooms that good. But when you get the count and king and such be prepared to pump out an assload of expensive metal furniture.

Building through a aquifer, with tweaked to get through it and that is all, I used it to get through for stone, my whole fort in in the third layer of dirt, right above the aquifer because it allows for waterfall draining and wells and water pushing traps. SHIT: my mace dwarf and swords dwarf were sparring and mace dwarf was hurt, out of my 5 soldiers 4 are left, the mace dwarf was the squad leader, lucky he had steel chain mail on and his upper arm is all that is hurt, lucky for me he has an arm still. [editline]07:09PM[/editline] I made a waterfall out of the aquifer, pumping it's water back into it from above, I am also using said water for a high powered trap. I'm going to make a saw like thing and release kittens in it now.
I made a human fort, forged a steel two-handed sword, a maul, and a pike. For some reason, my humans can't pick it up, they just dance all over it. What should i do?
I think you must set up them to not wear a shield or buckler.
They don't have any shields or bucklers. Never mind, i will just start with long swords and war hammers. Still would be good to have a maul.
A friend persuaded me to start a succession game with him, where I'd have the first year, he'd have the second, and we'd just keep going until the fort collapses. :D The first thing I did was shear off the front of one of the cliffs, to get a nice flat edge to work with. Then, I tried to have my miner remove the overhang by channeling across it. Long story short, it collapsed prematurely and wounded him. All his other wounds healed up in the time it took for him to finally be moved to a bed, but he's now resting a broken foot wound that won't go away. Oh yeah, and he has brain damage. :downs: At first I was like "ARGH FUCK" then I realised that my carpenter and woodcutter were both still alive, so I could still salvage the fort by building aboveground until my miner (who I named after myself) got better and could work again. Did I mention that the river I had embarked near had shitloads of carp, pike, trout, and sea lampreys in it? Well it did. And the woodcutter and carpenter both drowned (at the hands of the lampreys. No, I don't know what sea lampreys are doing in a river). I set the dwarf that I had named after my friend to be the new carpenter, but with the woodcutter and miner gone, we've lost our only sources of building material. :argh: But I will not give up so easily! I have a plan, you see. We will build a trade depot, and use the fisherdwarf's fish bones and whatnot to make crafts, and hopefully eventually trade for an extra mining pick and/or a new battle-axe. Also, I'm riding on the hope that when winter comes the rivers and pools will freeze and kill all the fish, thus saving the remaining four dwarves (the hunter got mauled to death by a cougar) from a watery grave. WE WILL SURVIVE! :v: My friend's going to have a "fun" year... EDIT: DAMMIT. The farmer just went insane. EDIT: And now he's drowned.
Holy fudge i got into it last evening!
A fucking monkey stole my fucking crossbows and ropes!
Rhesus macaque? I once had a swarm of 20 of them. They were undead. AND IN TERRIFYING GLACIER BIOME.
Little update: The fisherdwarf has drowned as well. It's just my dwarf and my friend's dwarf now. :D

Read it, do everything it says, you'll come out of it knowing almost everything necessary for a halfway-decent fort.
There will be many more parties in the steam chat guaranteed.
