Allright.
I did that but still nothing.....
I did that but still nothing.....
But you do have the bones right...
Yes
So you have a craft workshop, a dwarf with bonecarving, bones (in a stockpile or refuse pile, not on the ground) and the carver isn't occupied with other jobs such as hauling/sleeping/eating? [editline]09:54PM[/editline] Fuck, my fortress has descended into chaos due to the last goblin attack...
And if the refuse pile is outside, make sure the Order (o) of gathering refuse from outside is set to YES
Started again, now my fucking dwarves don't go to build the goddamn craftsdwarf's workshop. Oh yeah and the cages still don't work.
I've always wanted to get into this but I find it really complicated.
This ;-;
This ;-;
You'll learn the basics of the game in about an hour if you just use the "Getting Started" section of the wiki.
No, as long as the dwarves are given the profession, it doesn't matter if they are a novice or legendary. You're probably either not giving them enough time (they could be occupied with hauling stone) or you're doing something wrong.
They were all idle, I gave it a minute or so. What if they have the base amount in the stat, not a <profession>?
It doesn't make a difference, A hunter can cook, a miner can chop, a tanner can craft, a weaver can brew, etc.
Can titans and such get through floodgates?
Can titans and such get through floodgates?
They can destroy them.
Oh shit 27 migrants in a year jesus shit everything is cluttered
Is there an easy way to remove all the goddamn hills (Like natural ramps) around my fortress (Besides just digging into the walls...)?!

i dont get it i just see happy faces and Ms dancing and when i try to build a bed it tells me that i need a bed
[d] - [z]
Awesome :buddy: [editline]10:11PM[/editline]
i dont get it i just see happy faces and Ms dancing and when i try to build a bed it tells me that i need a bed
Your questions are answered here: http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Main_Page
-snip-
I imagine something along the lines of "How is your kitten today, maddam?" "Kitten?!" happening daily in my dining room.
They can destroy them.
Can they get over moats?
i dont get it i just see happy faces and Ms dancing and when i try to build a bed it tells me that i need a bed
In order to "build" a bed, you must first create one at a workshop. When you give the build command, the bed will then be moved to the designated location. (Moved by a dwarf of course.)
i find it funny to lock a dwarf in a room and then flood it "Urist McNumbnuts cancels drink, dangeous terrain"
i dont get it i just see happy faces and Ms dancing and when i try to build a bed it tells me that i need a bed
When I first played 2d Dwarf fortress I felt the same exact way, I didn't quite understand the concept of needing to supply a bed to make a bed, but what it's really saying is you need a bed to place a bed.
So how do I make rope then? Also is there a way to grow trees? I have to send my dwarf's far for wood. And batman is a dickhead, he just comes out and attacks my hunters and after a while he gets beaten up and then he tries again the next time. But I suppose my dwarf is just as dumb for keep going back. Also it's not fair that I now have to suffer with 33 dwarfs.
Holy shit i found a VERY old save of my epic fort that was lost:woop:population was only 15 :v:and the above ground fort was just beggining do being built.
To make rope:

Grow pigtails at a spare farm (needs farming)
Process plants at farmers workshop (needs plant processing)
The dwarves should automatically weave the resulting thread into cloth at a loom (needs weaving)
Make plant fibre rope at clothier's shop (needs clothesmaking)

This ;-;
Dwarf fortress really isn't that hard to grasp, I think people put up a mental block because they've read how hard it is, and just don't bother trying. Once you've got the basics down, just have the wiki and you're sorted. I've been playing the game a lot and I have never made cheese or glass yet, but I know enough to either work it out, or just use the Wiki to check how. [editline]12:22PM[/editline]
I'm starting out here. Do I need 6 in a skill for a dorf to actually be able to perform the task that skill requires? I found myself stuck, unable to build a carpenter's workshop
A dwarf will need points in a skill to perform it. The start will allow you to make dwarfs proficient in some skills, which is very useful as waiting for a new dwarf to become that level can take awhile. You can make dwarfs take on the tasks of other skills in game though (which you'll have to do at the start as 7 isn't enough). Just go [u] (Select the dwarf) [c] [p] [l], should bring you into their labor screen. You can then tell them what you want them to do and not do. A dwarf that performs work he has no skill in will get bad thoughts from it though (a dwarf that performs work he is skilled at will have happy thoughts, 'satisfied at work lately') [editline]12:23PM[/editline]

This is a pain in the arse to do at the start. Just bring a rope with you (only 20 points). Traders normally bring ropes with them as well for cheap.
I will give it a shot this time...though I just played a round with Dig Deeper..and I had twenty something dwarves...three chamion wrestlers..no weapons or armor and ORC RAID...so emergency mass conscripting,,,,,and..I win!...with..three...survivors...the original leader...who is a miner....a mason..and a wood burner... Oh there was also a dwarf caravan, so yay tons of free stuff now :P ..if i survive somehow... [editline]08:22PM[/editline] Here, I uploaded a map picture to show the horrible aftermath X_X Dwarf bits EVERYWHERE X_X http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-6471-roarsglazes Well, time to abandon the fort and reclaim it, because my only walking dwarf went insane! and the other two are bed ridden...>.<
Your defences suck. Build a longer entrance hallway, build more traps(preferably cage), make entrance hallway narrower(more people fall in to traps) and use moats, bridges and doorways to stop enemies from moving in to your fortress.
