Monkey Lords are also fairly fragile all things considering. A few pot-shots from T3 bombers will take them down fairly quick, unless they're escorted by a ton of interceptors.
That's true. Nonetheless, the Monkeylord is one of the best T4s and it is excellent against ACUs.
It still takes time to get that Monkeylord into position to attack and the enemy might have 50+ PD waiting for you when you arrive. You can't base who has the upper hand by how many/how soon they get experimentals.
That's why scouting is so important. You're supposed to scout your enemy so you know what he's carrying. If he's got a giant ass wall of T3 defenses (which pretty damn hard to do and you probibly should have attacked him before he had the capability to do this unless you're playing a big game on a big map)... then obviously you wouldn't try to send your monkeylord twoards him. Instead you would invest in some nukes or endgame units/bombers to do the job. Or build 50 monkeylords.
And even then, if the said turtle has a wall of T3 defenses, it is more than likely he has artillery and Anti-missile/air defenses to counter your shit.
That's part of the reason I don't like playing on maps bigger than 20x20. I hate small games but the big problem with supcom is that once you get larger than 20km x 20km sized maps, there is LITERALLY no effective strategy other than investing in teleport, investing in nukes, or investing in artillery and just seeing who gets there first. The ONLY alternative is to build an assload of bombers, or an assload of experimental units, and even then you'll probibly only win after 3 hours. Because once you get to maps that large, your armies take way too long to do anything (it becomes more efficient to just quickly build 50 defenses instead of spending 10 minutes to micromanage and send your army to your enemy), your transports are way too inefficient to carry an entire army, and everyone just has a single giant ass impenetrable base that no army could ever get through. Unless you spent 5 hours playing the game at -7 speed due to the slowdowns caused by so much going on. I hope SupCom 2 really improves on that. I love large scale, but it's just so broken in supcom on maps larger than 20x20. You have to still micromanage your armies at that scale, the pathfinding is so borked your armies will take 30 minutes to get anywhere when they are large, and it takes a LOT of econ micro plus time to even get an army that may even have the potentual of cracking a base filled with defense. Which is why in supcom 1 the only good strategy for large games was massive bomber spam, nuke spam, or artillery spam. If you were cybran the first thing you do is try to get your ACU to have Teleport+laser so you can assassinate the enemy team early on... because it just takes too damn long to do anything else.
Hey, hey you. Yes you, the one reading this post. The idea of taking part in a 81x81 game of SupCom:FA with other players battling for global supremacy on a world map sounds like a good time? http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=826260 [/shamelessGIPpimp]
I am SO getting this.
Oh look, a Steam group for the game we all love! http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FFADG/
Man, I'm shit at this game. I always end up with a giant mass stall around tech 2 and can't help my buddies. When do you guys start upgrading your extractors? Straight after you expanded to a nice place, around when you get tech 2? I think if I could get my extractor upgrading better I wouldn't be such a failure to every team I go on.

Just throw an engineer or two on there and it'll be done in 15 seconds.
Lost my fucking Forged Alliance key. WHY would you put the key on a tiny slip of paper that's not attached to the case?! WHY?! >8U Never mind, I had it in the SupCom case. :downs:
^ I've bought three copies of both games because I've forgotten the accounts Their tied to. 1 set retail, Then the last two from D2D which gave the the same set of CD keys for the third set as the second set
I love playing this, but my computer can't handle more than 100 units :frown:
I already had Sup Com vanilla, but I bought the £5 deal on D2D, it's worth it. I need to get back to playing this :)
The thing I love about this game is just the massiveness of it all. Some games would allow you to only build one superweapon or superunit, but in SupCom, you can have as much as you want.
I already had Sup Com vanilla, but I bought the £5 deal on D2D, it's worth it. I need to get back to playing this :)
Can I ask a question? On you're games list for downloading does it have the Vanilla and fA in just one thing called Gold or are they seperate?
Yeah but the monkeylord comes out in half the time, and has complete radar stealth which means you don't see it coming unless you have really good scouting or thorough omni radar coverage.
Yeah but the Fatboy can build engineers to build more Fatboys. :buddy:
Yeah but the Fatboy can build engineers to build more Fatboys. :buddy:
And if you don't like its AA capabilitys just make some T2 AA with it
What settings do you guys run your game on? I get single digit fps on 8 player maps when all the AI get large bases.
I run everything maxed out with dual monitor, both on 1600x1200 it's about at ~30 FPS in big battles
Yeah but the Fatboy can build engineers to build more Fatboys. :buddy:
....which your factories already do, and do it 3x better especailly if assisted.
But factories don't build fatboys.
Its EXTREMELY graphically intensive, I tried it in my old computer and got 2 fps
Not really if you have a 6800+ you should be fine
Great Game Betrayal Ocean so many nukes and T3 Units crawling over my screen I won.... But only after my Super bomber crashed against his commander.
Think I have too many mods for FA, 21 mods currently active, 16 of which are unit mods, over half are "big" additions :aaa: Can't help it though, I'm a mod junkie.
Getting the game in 3 days. Would a HD3850 run it? (AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.0ghz D:)
You will probably have problems in large games with that processor.
Heh I played the demo of this, didn't like it, could have been much better, course the only RTS ive liked alot was StarCraft. It doesn't hold my intreast as much as StarCraft did.

Then I got Forged Alliances when it came out and it was epic. you can build everything you want in the first campaign level which is a ton better than the first game's. The demo mission was bad because you had access to barely anything so give the full game a try and you will see it's a ton better.
