You will probably have problems in large games with that processor.
I'm probably upgrading it soon enough.
Dude, I thought this was the worst game ever made and wanted to burn everyone who liked it after I played the demo. Then I got Forged Alliances when it came out and it was epic. you can build everything you want in the first campaign level which is a ton better than the first game's. The demo mission was bad because you had access to barely anything so give the full game a try and you will see it's a ton better.
not everything, there are certain units you can't make in the first missions
The only things you can't build are T3 defenses most of the time.
not everything, there are certain units you can't make in the first missions
I was pretty annoyed at not being able to make engineering stations on the first mission. I have no god damn idea why it would be left out.
I've had this game for a couple years now and I still suck at it. It takes a pretty long time to master it I guess.
But factories don't build fatboys.
Neither do fatboys? Fatboys only build some T2 units, the T3 bots, and T3 engies. T3 factories on the other hand build everything, do it much faster if assisted, cost a LOT less, etc. Of course Fatboy is also a giantass weapons platform, but I'm just saying using the fatboy to build units isn't that great of an advantage when it can only build if it's standing completely still, builds at a "slow" speed, etc. It's not like the unit is stealth or anything so you can't use it as a mobile stealth factory (which WOULD be really useful). And being a T4 unit it's a much higher priority target than a T3 factory for building a force.
Its probably my processor. I have an AMD 5400+ 2.8gHz. I can play 2 vs 2 with graphics all the way up and have no problem, but if they are supreme AI i get single digits again
i don't really like how it takes some things forever to build
Well then assist the construction of them My record is a mavor in three seconds [editline]11:02PM[/editline] Of course that was on sandbox with a economy that spanned the entire map and it took about 200+ fully upgraded, scu's
When I play RTS's I tend to turtle and basebuild more than everything. Is this a game I should really considering buying?
Yes. This is THE turtle game.
Well, you have to be a GOOD turtle though. If you don't try to build as efficent as possible, never expand even a little bit from your starting mass extractor points, etc. you'll either get owned by a guy who isn't turtleing or you'll get owned by the guy who's turtling much better than you are and who launches a nuke at your base before you even have a T3 factory up (aka within 40-45 minutes) while he secretly scouts your base. [editline]07:30AM[/editline] This is Forged Alliance that is. Which is much better than standard SC.
before you even have a T3 factory up (aka within 40-45 minutes) while he secretly scouts your base.
:raise: 40-45 minutes for a T3 base? I get that within the first 5 minutes of the game.
:raise: 40-45 minutes for a T3 base? I get that within the first 5 minutes of the game.
Nuke =/= T3 base. A nuke takes a long time to build by itself.
Nuke =/= T3 base. It says checking for gpgnet: supreme commander updates forever I opened my ports and disabled my firewall too.. I just went to the chat room and it says I have been banned from the main chat :argh:
When I play RTS's I tend to turtle and basebuild more than everything. Is this a game I should really considering buying?
Hell yes.
It says checking for gpgnet: supreme commander updates forever I opened my ports and disabled my firewall too.. I just went to the chat room and it says I have been banned from the main chat :argh:
The gpgnet client is horrible, go download the patch from somewhere else (and no you don't need the gpgnet client to play online) http://www.gamershell.com/download_22779.shtml
Hell yes. How do I play online without gpgnet? Wow it finally found the update
It says checking for gpgnet: supreme commander updates forever I opened my ports and disabled my firewall too.. I just went to the chat room and it says I have been banned from the main chat :argh:
Gpgnet sucks hard, I hate it when I reinstall SC and have to wait 20 minutes for it to "check" for updates that first time. [editline]10:10PM[/editline]
How do I play online without gpgnet?
Don't think you can, unless you use hamachi.
How do I play online without gpgnet?
You can, but really only with buddies. The way I did it is forwarded ports 6112,9103,30350,30351. Then went to whatismyip.com, found my ip. Then go to the lan/ip option in game, and you'll see the option to host. Give a friend the ip, use one of those ports you forwarded, and that should work.
Or just use hamachi. Start it up, give IP to friend, play. Some people have funky settings though and have to configure it. But for most, it's a simple 3 step process.
Or play FC and use the direct connect feature already in the game! Speaking of direct connect, we're having a game right now. Forged Alliance, etc. This thread and this steam group, have all the info you could need about it!
Finally got the game, did some scrims, loving it. First time I kept wondering how the enemy could make units so fast. Me, being a newbie, decided to make 4 mass extractors and 4 power generators before making anything else. I won because I went on a gunship rampage and killed the enemy quickly, this was on easy tho. Second round I had three AI, 2vs2. We both defeated the enemy at the same time, but I just was bombing down the enemy base, I didn't even notice the ACU.
Cybran Experimental should be a stealth nuke. I can totally see the UEF having a MIRV, though.
Getting rushed by 6 AI's sucks. Stupid tier 1 bombers.
It says checking for gpgnet: supreme commander updates forever I opened my ports and disabled my firewall too.. I just went to the chat room and it says I have been banned from the main chat :argh:
If your GPGnet client is stuck in an infinite patch loop, it's likely that you can fix it by going to Program Files > GPGnet and running patch.exe. I'd recommend patching both the original and the expansion to the current version before doing anything in GPGnet though, it forever to download the patches.
I had to uninstall/reinstall FA A-FUCKING-GAIN because it couldn't patch itself. :argh:
The Rules of the last game (81x81 Globe map) - Only T1 units, No air till 30 minutes - T2/T3 after 30 minutes, No game-enders, T1 air allowed until 75 minutes - All goes after that - I swear North america had that many holes and wrecks on the coast to begin with. - I lost after My Aeon/Asian empire fell flat against 56BallFoot's MASSIVE Cybran/Europe army. But seeing my Capital bases fall to 5 Monkeylords and over 300 T2 Bots has never looked so good. But I did manage to Partially "annex" R1991S's UEF/Russian empire (Fuck up my Bases in india will you?)
-snip- So I pretty much suke at this game and just got FA,anyone up for a game against a noob in about 2 hours?
