The Grunts in Half-Life. Maybe they're pricks for shooting you but it's not their fault the military wan't to contain the aliens. Most of them probably have family and no-one deserves a crowbar to the face.
Yeah, but a lot of them don't care too much about having to kill you or the scientists, so they kinda deserve it.

I guess, but orders are orders.
I guess, but orders are orders.
Orders mean nothing, tell that to the grunts in vietnam.
I guess, but orders are orders.
I could see that if they were forced to and didn't like doing it, but these guys laugh about "Containment operations".

Hmm. I see your point now.
Hmm. I see your point now.
That too
Thinking about it I didn't really want to kill Gabriel Nowak in Vegas 2. He was in such a state of denial that he didn't think about the concequences of his action and how he could've been a good soldier.
It's his fault for doing his mum.

Whenever I get sad about Otacon I stop pretty much straight away because I remember he's a mummy bummer.
I thought it was the other way around.
Didn't his step mom seduce him? :raise:
On the subject of Metal Gear Solid, all the bosses in MGS4. I haven't played it, but I've seen enough cinematics to understand their individual backstories.
Yes but their brain is altered and absorbed into the hive mind, so it's not like they don't want to do it, unlike headcrab zombies.
Read Halo: The Flood.
Remember in the first Halo you put on the camera of that soldier during the one flood mission? His name was Jenkins.
The Flood spoilers
[sp]Jenkins is in The Flood. He became infected by one of the little bastards, and instead of killing him they took him for research. It goes into detail about how they had to take everything out of his cell because he'd repeatedly smash his head against anything in the room in a futile attempt to kill himself. One of the scientists finally smartens up and tosses a live grenade into his cell. Jenkins fights the infection enough to mouth a "Thank you" before he explodes.[/sp]

Wrong.
[sp]Major Silva succsesfully captures the Truth and Reconciliation in order to be away from the blast when the Pillar Of Autumn blows.Jenkins is on the ship with McCay when she realises Silva is making a huge mistake and that just one escaped flood sample can spell doom for humanity if they make it to earth and it spreads. So she primes a grenade and hands it to Jenkins whose human side mutters "Thank You" and the whole ship blows as jenkins was standing near the Optic Cables which control the ships steering.Effectively toppling it and destroying the Covenant generators. She sacrifices her life and many others for humanity.[/sp]

Either way, the point stands, and Jenkins really does continually try to kill himself.
Oh god, this. She was so nice to you... trying to help you... and she was really looking forward to getting out...

Ever since I played that I keep thinking about how this would be in real life. You see some monster (or just a serial killer) that tries to kill you and you kill it with whatever tools you got and then it turns out to be your best friend or someone of your family. Shit scares me.

I never said he didn't.
Big Daddy's from Bioshock.
Only motherfuckers who aren't insane or trying to kill you. Their only trying to protect the little girls. I always root for them when they fight the splicers.
This will sound ironic, but I feel sorry for all the little units you send out in Supreme Commander to get slaughtered. A lot of them seem to have a unique charm about them.
The colossi in Shadow of the Colossus and the rabbits from fable. Because I'm a cruel person :saddowns:
Towelee
Poor towel, didnt have to live a life gettin high and being kept in a facility only to escape, meet 4 boys named kenny, stan, cartman and kyle, then to return
poor fella
Most of the grunts in Deus Ex. When you actually listen to their conversation, you feel really bad for killing them.
Portal turret.
"I don't hate you."
General Leo from Final Fantasy 6, he could almost have been classed as a good guy if it wasn't for the fact he worked for the "generic evil Empire I forgot the name of out to take over the world"
The Sultan from Stronghold Crusader.
The Sultan from Stronghold Crusader.
Saladin was nicer to me. The Pig however, I hate that asshole. Keeps rushing me with macemen.
THE OWL KNIGHTS
They're in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (and a bunch of other Castlevanias, actually.), and they're knights with a pet owl, who also attacks you. If you kill the knight first, the owl flies over the corpse and lets out a saddened screech. If you kill the owl first, the knight runs over and cries a weak sob.

So yeah, I always kill them at the same time.
Galgamoth from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Motherfucker had me standing by his legs and forced me to press X for 15 minutes until he died.
I played X-Men Origins: Wolverine today, and I jumped on this one soldier, lifted him in the air, and just as I was about to rip his chest open, he screamed "Stop, please stop!", and I felt kinda bad but it was too late, and I killed him.
:saddowns:
Giygas, from earthbound.
Poor bastard only wanted someone to love.
