Kessler/Alden from Infamous, for obvious reasons.
Not if you haven't played the game at least explain it
[sp]Kessler is YOU! D:[/sp]
Why did you even choose to kill him in the first place :crying:
He's an angsty emo bitch who doesn't ever stop complaining about how horrible his life is no matter how many times you take him fucking bowling.

I honestly teared up at the ending cinematic when everything is revealed.
The portal turrets. The stormtroopers at the beginning of Jedi Outcast.
All those caterpies I burnt alive in Viridian Forest
I'm really not sure if this counts as he isn't really an enemy, but[sp]Carlos[/sp]from Saint's Row 2. I felt so bad for doing it, I was depressed for the rest of the Brotherhood campaign.
Your assassination targets in Oblivion. That one where you had to wipe out the whole family.:frown:
Cops in grand theft auto 4. I shot one and he was on the floor bleeding to death, I pointed my gun at him and he said " tell my wife I love her, okay? " Made me feel bad.
The 'purification' of the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary in Oblivion. Fuck that mission, those are my friends :c
Everytime I kill an EDF in redfaction : guerilla with a hammer I always imagine a family receiving a death notice about the soldier in that family being killed by a crazed psycopath with a hammer
First off, this thread might be misleading, I do not mean Sympathetic in the sense that the game overtly wants you to feel sorry for them, but rather the foes that make you wish that, in the end, they get help just as your side does. For example, I find the EDF to be the most sympathetic Antagonists I've faced in a modern video game. They are ruling Mars for one reason and one reason only; because Earth is dying due to Economic Collapse, which implies furthermore that most of the enemies you fight could very well be there because that was the only viable job option they have. Furthermore, your actions in Red Faction: Guerrilla are to destroy EDF influence on Mars, which would very well cause a TOTAL economic collapse on Earth and convert our homeworld into a pathetic slum. What enemies do you find to be sympathetic, or at least not as evil or cruel as they try to make them out to be?
The EDF are absolutely brutal to the people of Mars, why would you feel bad for them? And if the economy on Earth is so bad, why can they afford the shit tons of weapons and tanks and stuff that they have?

I mean they said you were Red Faction (you were before but you wanted a new life). Then you smash his head open with a sledgehammer, awesome :buddy:
For those of you that haven't played Otogi (AKA nearly everybody except a few), this guy is a bit like the Joker, he fights you because you are a good challenge. So yeah, I want to fight him, but I absolutely don't want to kill him, he's one of those bosses that even though you have already fought him twice you just want to fight him again and again. As he said, he wasn't destroying the world, he was trying to save it. Well ok, he actually wanted to become a god, but honestly I would have preferred to join him and fight alongside him (we'd have a different ending for once). Also when the main villain is many times cooler than the player character it's obvious you end up hoping you die at the end.
The Cops in GTA, mainly GTA4. They are just trying to do their job and keep people safe. And the way they sorta yell in a crying like voice in a pool of blood on the ground "I'm gonna be okay. I'm gonna be okay!" and "My guts are comin' out!". It's actually to the point where I never shoot cops in the to minimize my chances of killing them. Though I admit it's fucking funny to hear the NOOSE Guys yelling things like :God damn that hurt!" and "He shot me!? Asshole!" Also, the enemy (and friendly) soldiers in Company of Heroes. Most notably when I head a US Army Ranger yell "Tell mom I love her!" seconds before my STUH IV shot an artillery shell and obliterated the entire squad. [editline]05:26AM[/editline] Oh yea, and The Enclave. All they wanna do is fix everything, even if their methods are a little extreme.
ocelot in MGS3 is the same way, it's like two enemies who connect and becomes war buddies on each their side of the war... funny cutscenes and truckloads of respect and awe is just poured all over big boss/ocelot fightscenes.
Probably the henchmen in No One Lives Forever 1 & 2. You very often (shortly before killing them) hear them talking about their private lives and you really feel like they're people with lives that you're destroying. And their dying cries are so pathetic.
The Boss in MGS3, since she wasn't really an enemy, but she had to defect to make snake kill her and that meant she was really more of a patriot than ever or something like that... Well the plot is really complicated okay? Okay here's a nice Wikipedia quote: "EVA reveals that The Boss did not defect to the Soviet Union; rather, she was under orders to pretend to defect so she could infiltrate Volgin's ranks and find the location of the Legacy, which could be brought back to America. The final part of her mission was to sacrifice her honor and die at the hands of Snake, under the guise of a traitor, to prove the US's innocence in Volgin's nuclear attack from the beginning of the game."
AWESOME SPOILER! Be happy I've already completed MGS3. But you should really put some spoilertags on that.
The loners and bandits in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. They're just trying to make it in The Zone. The splicers in BioShock, because they aren't really capable of controling themselves, with the ADAM driving them mad. Also, the Prototype zombies.
AWESOME SPOILER! Be happy I've already completed MGS3. But you should really put some spoilertags on that.
it's been 4 years since the game was released. There's no reason to spoiler it as any normal person would've beaten it. Next thing you know people are forced to spoiler "mario kills bowser and saves the princess"
Next thing you know people are forced to spoiler "mario kills bowser and saves the princess"
Dude what the fuck man spoiler tag that shit I thought she was in another castle.
Headcrab zombies. Poor bastards only wanted to love. :saddowns:
The only boss that comes to mind that hasn't been mentioned already was Bowser Jr. on Super Mario Sunshine, he was made out to be so evil, but all he wanted was somebody to love. It must be so hard making friends when you're the son of a giant lizard :frown:

I thought of the song by Jefferson Airplane, and then I thought of Bowser Jr. On a minigun in a helicopter with a bandanna on his head in 'Nam.
Headcrab zombies. Poor bastards only wanted to love. :saddowns:
Not to mention they are fully conscious of what is going on, including the pain they have due to being ripped open.
Sniper Wolf, I didn't want to upset Hal, but had no choice! :(
Sniper Wolf, I didn't want to upset Hal, but had no choice! :(
Oh god when she dies and Otacon starts crying... :frown: Poor Otacon.
Oh god when she dies and Otacon starts crying... :frown: Poor Otacon.
look up stockholm syndrome. He was suffereing from temporary insainty.
Pretty much any game where you kill Stormtroopers. I've always had a problem with the whole 'evil empire' thing in Star Wars. From what I see, there isn't really all that much 'evil' about it, apart from some of its leaders. Overall, it provides security, safety and generally seems to improve the quality of life for all it's members. Just because people like Darth Vader and Tarkin happened to be running the show, doesn't mean everyone who signed up to become part of it was evil. Most Stormtroopers are either the original clones (so didn't have much choice) or just honest men trying to make a living.
