Actually, they all die either way. It's just the way they die theoretically that changes. If you listen to the Codec conversations Otacon or Drebin mentions that they've been inside those suits for so long that they wouldn't be able to survive without them anymore.
Yeah, but it's still quite strange that the only Beauty left in life-threatening conditions (Crying Beauty in the snow storm) was carried away (to safety). That and the fact that LB is clearly still breathing when Snake checks her pulse. Also Drebin (or the MGS "bible" you can download on PSN, I don't remember which) says "Rumors say that they can't survive for long without their suits." or something like that (so it's all rumors). Of course this is all speculation, nobody but Kojima knows how if they did survive or die.
I felt really bad in COD:WaW when there were the German Soldiers at the bottom of this stairwell who were unarmed and had been beaten, and I was given the choice to kill them myself or let the other soldiers kill them. They looked so sad - like they had a family at home or something.

The theme park guy in Blood Money :crying:

Drebin tells us that they do not last long outside of the suits, not because of death, but because the suits keep their deep mental wounds from collapsing their mind. in other words, they close down to any outside world contact, like a baby left by it's mother. tranquilizing them leaves them alive, but when they wake up, they will be shut in their own minds, no longer aware of the world around them, sad really. worst thing is they all relate to MGS1 and 3 bosses because of some nanomachine experiment, inducting parts of sniper wolfs "soul" into Crying wolf. in the same way Sceaming mantis is haunted by The sorrows spirit, and has had part of Psyco mantis' abilities transfered along with snippets of memories, transferring abilities and old tricks (hideo screen) to her. Raging raven = the furys battle emotion and Raven's battle style (maze with containers= maze with windows) Laughing octupus is Fatman and Solidus' arms and The Boss battle emotion (joy or rather madness driving her to laugh) one of them also has the Fear in the form of claustrophobia (spelling?) vamp and the fear are also very similar. the bosses take from eachother just as the two cool snakes and raiden(mgs2) did and the ninjas did. it all relates to the "to stop this, it all must return to zero"... feck, wrote half a bible.
Every single character in Portal, inanimate or otherwise.
Mostly Any Soldier, Pawns in a madmans game where no one wins.

Nazis are people too, it's not that they have any choise.
The enemies in STALKER are pretty sympathetic, greed or ideals have corrupted everyone. Including you.
The EDF from RF:G. Even though I went out of my way to find the most painful way to kill them (smash them through a wall with the hammer, stick them with the remote charges, blow something up through a wall to make it slam into them, run them over through a wall, etc), I would always get burnt just a little noticing I'm tearing apart families that make up the colony on Mars.
I hate bethseda for adding the "reach this level with bad karma" acheivments to fallout 3. I hated blowing up megaton, I hated killing those gouls who wanted to live in tenpenny tower, I hated telling the slavers about that town of kids. Also, the EDF. In half life, the combines screams are somehow de-humanised by the weird radio effect, and brutes in halo just go "rrragh" all the time. The EDF actually sound like an actual person in horrble pain. It really takes away the joy of smashing a man through a wall when your only though is "god, that sounded painful. poor sod."
In Halo and Halo 2 I felt bad for grunts and would always leave one alive
I only ever kill the ones I have to (to trigger events etc.). The Arbiter Levels in Halo 2 were a joy for me :keke:
I only ever kill the ones I have to (to trigger events etc.). The Arbiter Levels in Halo 2 were a joy for me :keke:
Its worse in ODST. You dont wanna kill em, but its just SO SATISFYING to headshot them! Its like everytime you do it, you gain some joy and lose some soul.
Its worse in ODST. You dont wanna kill em, but its just SO SATISFYING to headshot them! In retrospect that was pretty horrible, because the marines were just fighting religious fanatics but still...
The pilots in Freelancer. It's more of that you realize that their still people which starts to make you think a little. "I can't BREATH!.."

Not to mention it's probably the only job they can get, given the economic situation on Earth that started this whole mess.
Douglas Shetland in Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. He was so cool in Pandora Tomorrow, I didn't want him to be a bad guy.
The boss in Prey that's actually your girlfriend. I cried. alot.
Also, the EDF. In half life, the combines screams are somehow de-humanised by the weird radio effect, and brutes in halo just go "rrragh" all the time. Makes you realize that it would fucking hurt to have a giant sawblade shoved into your spine. Although I always wondered why they would still scream for about 2-3 seconds, even after getting hit in the head :raise:
the people you kill in the first Postal. when they're still alive, moaning in pain and about to die on the floor. it's gut-wrenching. it was the first time I had ever exited a game in total disgust. thank god Postal 2 was much funnier.
I would like to hear this.
They literally believe they are the last remnant of the United States Government. Personally, I was sympathetic at first, but it doesn't help that [sp]they kidnap your village and were trying to commit genocide with weaponized F.E.V. in FO2[/sp] and it also doesn't help that [sp]General Autumn kills your dad two-thirds of the way through FO3 (and was also trying to commit genocide).[/sp] Am I the only one who killed them for spare Plasma Rifles? I actually have to try to get Evil or even Neutral. But some people are always Chaotic evil so yeah.
Also, the EDF. Commence genocide of Earthlings.[/sp]
Good point, I actually felt better about killing EDF after the bit where you have to cross that freefire zone in buggies, and you hear people over the radio panicing and saying things like "I...cant go on..." and "I need help...theres so much blood!"
The boss in Prey that's actually your girlfriend. I cried. alot.
Spoiler tags. You might want to use them.
I suggest you guys play the free game Iji. http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php I feel sorry for the Tasen in this game. They "Alpha Strike" Earth (which basically means fuck the shit out of it from space) and then take it over, leaving you as the player unsure that any humans even survived, but the reason they do it is (DO NOT FUCKING READ THIS IF YOU INTEND TO PLAY THE GAME EVER) [sp]to escape another race called the Komato who have been trying to hunt them to extinction. In the end, the Tasen do actually get killed off because of your actions.[/sp]
You mean Like the Xen aliens and the Combine in Half Life? loloriginal
Who is Clarence?
not the clarence the other guy posted, I mean clarence form penumbra.
It just struck me. This thread proves it. Some facepunchers... have SOULS!
They were just so cool
They were just so cool
Mr Bubbles! Why won't you get up, Mr Bubbles?
Mr Bubbles! Why won't you get up, Mr Bubbles?
That tore me up inside whenever I'd have to hear them cry for Mr. Bubbles after I killed him.
