Ive purposely held back on getting excited because I know it wont be out for a while.
The very second that Valve gives us anything about it officially though, Ill be all over it.
I usually get a little excited after my bi-yearly playthough of the HL2 series admittedly.
Portal 2 will probably have a hidden EP3 teaser. Or it will play during the end credits in the very end.

The original F.E.A.R did it in small quantities. It ripples and reflects, pretty impressive for a game from 2003.
They should really do something like what they did with Portal 2. I mean it has been like 2 years since we saw that Concept art picture. And that is the only thing we have.
imo portal 2 and episode 3 should use the same engine, all upgrades to source from dota and episode 3 should automatically be applied to portal that way. then maybe l4d could be updated also
although i think a source update simultaneously broke css,dods and tf2 for me. and i cant complane because i was banned from spuf for sarcastically making a racist joke about how Germans aren't allowed violent games or else they would cause ww3 :(

Episode 3 is Valve's marketing trick to keep us on our toes and watching their every move so we are immediately informed of titles such as Left 4 Dead 3 and new TF2 hats for sale in the meantime while waiting for the episode 3 :v:

It would be sweet if Portal 2's menu had something like the Portal Radio in the background, but there's like a single pixel you can click that activates an Episode 3 trailer.

Half Life 2 series have the best stories ever.
It just feels like reading an intence, epic book but just when things where getting interesting, blanco pages.

My theory: Portal 2 is Episode 3
Why do I believe this? Portal has demonstrated that it is closely tied with the Half Life 2 story-arc. The fact that Portal 2 takes place 500 years after Portal makes me suspicious because why would they skip over 500 years, to the point where the world is unrecognizable from what we've seen from the E3 trailer. Either they're lying about the fact Portal 2 takes place AFTER Portal or they're really dicking up the storyline, 500 years of unexplained events and expecting the player to just move on doesn't sound like them/
After DoTA II they'll announce left 4 dead 3.

Gabe answered the question "are you working on episode 3"
with "Of course we're working on episode three, but there isn't anything to say about it now"
And that was in 2007 or 2008 I think.
Also those 3 concept art images look pretty sweet, they were released in 2007 I think.

Not so sure about that. I'm actually not hyped at all for episode 3 now. I've got a pretty negative image of valve right now, because of DoTA II, and the useless TF2 updates :argh:

I, on the other hand, have even better image of valve because of dota2, and tf2 beta thingie

Also dota2 and other games wont have influence on half-life, there are teams which work on different projects, so no worries.
Don't care even a bit. The series is great, but I've just stopped anticipating it altogether.
