So I hit 30 mil the other day without realizing it. Drinks all around I guess. I remember hitting 1 mil on my monk, which was the first character I ever had to break 250k. It was a milestone back then.
I added you (T i d a l), maybe we can do some missions together or something.
Nice, yeah that would be great.

How did you manage to get 502,764 asuran points :v:
Showoff :v:
There was a guy back in 2008 that broke the 1bil mark on his ele
I saw a screenshot of someone who had 2 storage panes of ectos... They were an ele too, proabably the same guy. [editline]24th June 2011[/editline]
How did you manage to get 502,764 asuran points :v:
Probably raptor farming or asuran area dungeon speed clears. Or both.
How did you manage to get 502,764 asuran points :v:
The answer is an unhealthy amount of dungeons. I used to run people a lot. It's the LB that shows the biggest time sink though. I usually forget to grab bounties, and my mes is around 1 mil, ele is at something like 800k, and my monk comes in at a paltry 400 or 500k. DoA is where the party is. Also fuck raptor farming. You get pathetic amounts of drops and that's before the loot scaling comes into play, and the value on what you do get is ridiculous. Enjoy selling worthless golds to people for their wisdom. The only time vaettir and raptor farms are worth doing is during events.
There was a guy back in 2008 that broke the 1bil mark on his ele
That seems a bit early. Also THE way to farm experience was with a monk. Old school 600 smite gave the tank all of the experience. A 20 minute UW farm would net you in excess of 100k experience. If you got good spawns and could clear Foundry in DoA you were looking at utterly preposterous amounts of experience. Not that total experience actually really matters. Unless you craft stacks of consets you have no use for the skill points past a certain point.
Alright, just got this game. Let's see if I can get at least some of the hall of monuments stuff before GW2 comes out.
Alright, just got this game. Let's see if I can get at least some of the hall of monuments stuff before GW2 comes out.
You could pretty easily get it done if you do it focussed, even just doing the daily's you'll have enough money to get a few weapons/minipets/armors, and you'll have a dozen titles done as well by Q1 2012.
30/50 isn't too hard, 50/50 is a whole new ball game.
Right now I'm at 26/50. I checked the HoM rewards calculator and I could just get a single oppressor weapon, finish one title (easiest would probably be Guardian of Cantha - 9/13), and wait until I get two more minis, I will have 30/50. I could probably bang out those goals in a day or two, besides the miniatures, but GW is just so boring these days. I logged on a few weeks ago and all people do are speed clears. PvP is still a catch 22; you need a good Hero/Champion rank to get into a good GvG/HA guild, but you need a good GvG/HA guild to win consistently and get Fame/Champion points. I just need the motivation to get 30/50.
Well Wings of Change part 1 is being released soon, get your last points while GW is a bit more active then.

I have two extra totem axes if anyone needs them. I don't really know the pricing on them.
Found one yesterday while VQ'ing the falls, decided to give it to one of my alt's heroes.
I have two extra totem axes if anyone needs them. I don't really know the pricing on them.
1-3k 5k on the extreme outside. The green market is pretty much dead. Perfect mods have been easily available for ages now.
Just got Zhu Hanaku and a Shard Wolf for 2 character's 5ths. Huzzah
Should I buy the Guild Wars Trilogy on the steam sale or should I just wait for Guild Wars 2 to come out?
Should I buy the Guild Wars Trilogy on the steam sale or should I just wait for Guild Wars 2 to come out?
If you actually play Guild Wars a decent amount, you can unlock rewards for GW2.
Is there a decent amount of people that still play this game?
It's harder to find good, friendly active guilds, but they're out there.
Is there a decent amount of people that still play this game?
I'd say there is a decent number. Not a large number. And not many at all who play the missions, but if you get a good guild that problem'll be overcome.
Also if you are doing missions you might be able to tag along on groups doing them for zaishen coins. Most people do it on hard mode but I'm sure there's a few groups out there just going on normal mode.
What do you guys think... Should I spend $15 for the GW Trilogy? Would that get me $15 worth of fun? I assume with the sale, there might be SOME new people doing the missions. Is PvP filled with people that get angry if you don't use a specific "best" build / etc? Cause that's how certain other games get when the game has been around for this long.
in PvP, and high-end PvE for that matter, everyone generally just uses the same builds. It's kind of a shame tbh.
Damn. I bought it anyway because I can't wait for GW2, and never played GW, so I figure its worth $15 just to see what the first is like. But I hate when games end up with everyone using the exact same builds. Either way, I'm sure a bunch of people bought it during this sale, so maybe I'll have a few other newbies to play with.
Good point. Also there are still a good number of variations that work well.. In the PvE people only use specific builds for dungeon or elite area speed clears, which probably won't be a concern of yours for a while. And even those have variety. So it's not all bad!
Ugh, I really want to buy Factions and Nightfall, but the deal only works if you buy 'em all, and I don't have that kind of money to spend on games I already have.
Ugh, I really want to buy Factions and Nightfall, but the deal only works if you buy 'em all, and I don't have that kind of money to spend on games I already have.
Sell them on ebay.
in PvP, and high-end PvE for that matter, everyone generally just uses the same builds. It's kind of a shame tbh.
There are variations on a lot of things, but by and large things have similar flavors to them. You don't run an ele terra in FoW. Why? Because it's inefficient. People have found out what the optimal setups are and as a result there is very little variation. Some of this can be attributed to power creep, but by and large it's people trying to run optimal (or at the very least, easy) setups. Anyone who's played magic the gathering over the years has probably heard the argument, there are no useless cards, it's just that nobody has come up with a good use for some cards yet. The same sort argument gets used in guild wars for skills, and honestly its a load of nonsense in either case. Cards like chimney imp are trash because there are cards that do everything better than it for less, and cards like mirror of fate are bad because their mechanics are simply too clunky to make use of despite the effect being extremely powerful if used correctly. In much the same way, skills like flare, mending, healing breeze and the like are bad because they do nothing that isn't bone better by other skills, and skills like amity, Decapitate, and wild blow don't see much play because they have clunky mechanics and drawbacks that make them difficult to utilize, despite their effects being very powerful. With all that said, I'm referring to high end play primarily here. If you want to run a wammo paladin with healing hands and healing breeze, you certainly can, but do realize that it is a subpar bar. You won't get curb stomped in normal mode for running silly stuff like that. At the end of the day whatever floats your boat.
Ugh, I really want to buy Factions and Nightfall, but the deal only works if you buy 'em all, and I don't have that kind of money to spend on games I already have.
It's 15 dollars for all 3. Treat it as 7.50 for each for 2. You just add the key to your account and roll with it. Of course I'm writing this with 2 hours left on the sale, but whatever. Valve often has a huge finale at the end anyways with a good chunk of the deals again.
