My recommendations would essentially be the same as my recommendations for markfu.

Note that that is the same link as I used before, but not much changes. The list is geared towards avoiding costs, and time consumption, and as such it is fairly ubiquitous.

This is what I got to get to 30.
Fun Fact: This week is Nicholas The Traveler's last week to visit a Explorable Area that he hasn't visited. q_q

Whaaaaat
Whaaaaat
Not sure if it's next week, but iirc it's somewhere close to that.
There are 137 possible "haunts" for Nicholas, translating to 2.6 years of travels before he "even considers going to the same place"
That? Because that just means he'll start visiting the same places again...
That? Because that just means he'll start visiting the same places again...
Yeah, but that 2.6 year date is sometime early december. That's what I was talking about.
That? Because that just means he'll start visiting the same places again...
Yeah, my bad I meant to say a unique explorable area that he hasn't explored.
I finally hit 30 HoM points! Guess I'm never playing guild wars again now :v:
is there any point of playing this game if you don't have any of the expansions?
I finally hit 30 HoM points! Guess I'm never playing guild wars again now :v:
I have 32 and I'm going for 40, 50 will just be insane.
is there any point of playing this game if you don't have any of the expansions?
If you enjoy it, yeah.
What "Point" is there in a game other than that?
i only have the classic box thingy, and I remember there wasn't much to do unless you bought the other expansions

I have 44, and just need to get Guardian of Cantha to get final goal of 45.
Haven't been able to bring myself to do it

You don't have DoA or Deep listed. I swear you messed on a DoA run with us 3 or 4 months ago. Even if you hadn't, both of those are rather trivial in comparison to getting a guardian anywhere.
EDIT: You also don't have any cartography. That is easy with texmod and shadow form.
Regardless your hall is an excellent example of the sudden difficulty threshold that has been mentioned numerous times here. To get the last 5 points you would need to do essentially more than double the work. Getting to 30 is pretty simple. Getting to 40 requires some effort. Getting to 45 a bit more. The last 5 on the way to 50 are the tough ones.
Oh yeah, I just need to do that last quest thing. I supposed I could do that
Also, I only have 3 or so missions left for guardian
So I just got my GW account info. Time to fire this baby up for the first time in... 2 years I think. That said, I only have the vanilla game. Is it even worth it to get the expansions? I mean, I had fun when I first played it and the expansions look pretty good. But are there still a good sum of people playing this?

There are still plenty, one thing to take in to account though is that they're spread across all 3 campaigns and eotn, thus it might seem like there's a low population in certain areas.
Besides, if you're at all interested in GW2 then getting the expansions for GW1 in the christmas sale (I can basically promise you they'll be in there) is a good idea.
Not to mention GW1 is still a great game on it's own.

Probably yes. What with GW2's release coming closer, there's gonna be a good amount of people who go 'hey, let's install the original and brush up a bit'.
Alrighty then. Ill pick up the expansions as soon as I can!

Mallyx takes 20 minutes with pugs.

I disagree. Most of the people have already 'brushed up' with the release of the HoM calculator. People have gotten their HoMs to whatever level, and quit again. See this thread for several examples. Those who are left are by and large all you will ever get barring an update to the reward calculations (which I will add, would piss a great many people off).
To reiterate what has been said before. You won't find people besides those doing the zaishen dailies or speed clears in any abundance. If you want to do stuff, you need to get a solid hero team in order and roll with it.
Furthermore, heroes are quite frankly better than your typical pug when even moderately well equipped. They have their problems, but they are at least consistently stupid, making them predictable, and they never get impatient.

Oh believe me, Guardian of Cantha is one of the easier titles.
By the way, Zephyrs, how do you do DoA runs? Everytime I try with my hero team that works for almost everything, I get party wiped on NM. Any recommendations? I use 3 discord necros, 2 mesmers that run panic and ineptitude, and 2 rits who have SoS and Ghostly Might.

Discord is highly, highly overrated, IMO. Especially if you're trying to do things like DoA. I can't remember my exact team, but I believe it included these.
Myself as a Warrior, probably Hundred Blades or Dslash SY! spammer
Panic Me
Inep Me
Either N/Rt healer or Mo
SoS Rt
ST Shelter Rt
I'll dig through my builds later and see if I can find my full build.
I love Shelter.

I know that Discord is overrated, but I use it nonetheless. It's a great spiking build and one I've used on my heroes for about 2 years now.
Shelter is overkill in all but a few areas of the game to be honest. Don't get me wrong, a ST rit is fantastic, but a lot of the time it's simply ludicrous amounts of overkill that could be used to bring more damage and kill things faster.
Discord is pretty worthless. It's single target, and completely lacks shutdown effects. This is on top of the clunky mechanics that are required for it to do anything. Mesmers are AoE, and you don't need the ludicrous amounts of healing discord does because mesmers provide shutdown through effects like mistrust. Panic is powerful, but often overrated. Like shelter, a lot of the time you can get away with simply running even more raw damage.
But what do you do if you chain aggro 5 groups accidentally, you might ask. I don't know. Perhaps you could just go fucking kill them? Dead enemies are not a threat after all. A perfectly viable solution to taking damage is to just kill things faster instead of disabling them. Brute force fixes a lot of problems.
To answer your question about DoA: It's full parties of players running specific bars on specific professions. Two permaform tanks ball stuff up and and trigger objectives. The backline consists of an emo bonder and a seeder with UA. A team of mesmers (occasionaly we bring one necro) spikes groups down in the span of 3-5 seconds. Keep in mind that we are running spike bars. Everything is focused around dealing enormous burst damage or utility brought for specific tasks throughout the run. If a group takes more than 4 or 5 seconds to kill, they start to change targets and that can easily wipe a team since a typical spike involves killing 25-60 enemies in a single volley.
Well nick's dialogue certainly has a morbid tone to it this week.
It seems my travels have brought me to this haunted place once again. This time is different though. I've beheld many great sights, from Lyssa's ice cave to Zu Heltzer Cathedral, and along the way, I've received the help of many kind strangers. The glory of this world puts my personal suffering into perspective. To be honest, as the pain and nightmares fade, it's easier to look into the past, which is good. There are so many memories worth looking back on. Even after all these years, Mary rests as firmly in my heart as she did before the Charr destroyed my home.
I carry her with me wherever I go, and my travels are far from over. I haven't found a new home, but I have found a measure of happiness. So, I'll keep wandering with this woolly fellow by my side. Before we depart, however, I should leave a remembrance, and only one gift seems fitting. You don't happen to have 3 Red Iris Flowers for me to leave behind, do you?
It remains to be seen how he is going to go about visiting locations. This dialogue is different than the first one, though he is in an identical position.

Watch him go rogue and turn in to a secret boss at the end of WoC, finally having snapped and wanting to murder all living beings.
Joking aside, that would make next to zero sense, especially considering how much of a his story arc is completely secondary to everything in the game, as well as the fact that he shows up for the wedding and other such nonsense.
In order to maintain any semblance of continuity you would have to mandate completion of WiK before finishing WoC, which would piss more than a few people off.

You can do EOTN before prophecies/factions/nightfall.
Eotn is years later.
Guildwars doesn't give jack-shit about continuity or chronological order.
Yes, but the quests practically never refer to each other in any way outside of the closing moments in EoTN. I don't even recall if the henchmen mention stuff from the past when you talk to them.
Also I should clarify the pissing people off part before anyone takes that the wrong way since my initial statement is relatively ambiguous. Many people would be greatly pissed if you had to complete WiK before finishing WoC because a great deal of people despise WiK.
