I think you get all (or some) of your GW1 names if you linked accounts reserved, so you can get your HoM rewards
From what I understand, GW names are reserved if the owner of the name has EoTN, or something like that. So only people who bought EoTN will have their names be reserved.
Edit:
Actually yeah, I guess it would only work if you linked the account.
my god the high res picture feature is awesome
Guess its time to create Charrcolate Rain and Charrg Lightbrigade and level them to 20 in GW1...
I believe Nightfall provides the fastest climb from 1-20, so I'll take care of that after the BWE.
Edit: I wonder if Paul Bunyan the norn ranger is taken... not that I can get a blue ox as an animal companion anyways...
Seeing as this was the last day, I decided to push through and finish the personal story. Turns out the Greatsword is badass with its chain-pull skill, and Staff for support. Tried Wv3 today, got dominated by red. Even lost our garrison, so there was no point in trying at that rate. Took some silly pictures:
Found this naked Norn running around with the name "Hello Friends". He just ran around and jumped while we were fighting this massive army of Dredge. This was before I rebound my logout key.

My Norn got into some silly pose and didn't change until I got into combat:

Me before going to defend our garrsion, which we lost later. Noticed the walls weren't rendering anymore:

Noticed I got all tiers of Survivor for the month. I felt awesome. Then realized I've died more than few times, so maybe it's broken :v :

I had fun. Sad knowing I'll have to wait for the full release for more fun times
Does this game actually CHANGE in the higher levels? Everything feels like a tutorial, go there, do some
of this shit and then yay, get some xp. Even the storyline feels kinda slapped on. Its fun, but the fun is in PvP imo.

I actually just canceled my pre-order because I really dont think it will change at higher levels and apparently there is no pve endgame so whats the real point of just leveling to 80 and trying to get good gear and hit 80 because if you go anywhere else besides a level 80 zone all your shit gets scaled down to everyone else around you.

Subjective. I find PvP quite demoralizing while PvE and the stories can be rather enjoyable. Then again, that depends on what you mean by "change".

Do everything that you missed? Take on massive dragons? Do dungeons you skipped over? This world is much more massive than the GW1, so take your time and do exploring, gather things, work on crafting. Do whatever. Do some PvP if you want. Make a new guy and try him out.
iunno man

I love that stuff gets scaled. I can just go to my favorite areas and do whatever I want, instead of being forced to go from zone to zone.
yeah now when my friend gets ahead in leveling i dont have to rip his intestines out of his anus

Its nice and a cool idea but its not for me.
Its like, why did I spend all that time leveling to 80 and getting high level 80 gear when it really wont matter unless im doing level 80 content, and if I go anywhere else that scales me down my gear wont even matter.
I guess GW2 isnt an mmo for me because I really like that feeling of progression and endgame content like raids, it gives you something to work towards after you hit max level.
It was either GW2 or Diablo 3 for me and I am just going with Diablo 3.
Yeah levelling with friends was always annoying for me, cuz the bastards either played when I was away or didn't want to play, then there'd be 5 level gaps and I'd repeat allll the lame quests

There are "endgame" dungeons and elite gear in GW2 (sweet looking armor), there is really no disadvantage to the scaling system.
Oh hey, end of beta event at 11 PM PDT in Wayfarer Hills.

There is no advantage either.
If you are 80 and get that elite gear it doesnt really matter if you go anywhere else except level 80 zones because it scales down to the same as everyone else.
So why work for that when it really wont matter at all if all it does is scale anywhere you go.
Are there any pictures of endgame gear?
could someone record it? I don't think i have enough energy to stay up anymore (like i might fall asleep in the next few hours)

you still have the powerful gear? unless I'm mistaking something.

It seems as if you're a bit stronger than anyone at the level you're put down to, but not to the point where you can oneshot stuff.

No no, your base level and stats scale. After scaling, your equipment add stats and so do your traits. If you're a level 80, you're advantage is the extra traits you have and your meaty equipment.

Ok say im 80.
And I have a piece of gear that adds 1000 vitality.
I go to a level 1 zone.
All my stats go to whatever level I was scaled down to, like 3.
Regardless of that, my gear wouldn't scale down so I would still have that 1,000 vitality?

We could test that pretty easily. I'll get my level 13 and see the differences without armor and with armor.
I fucking love being a chef in this game. Of course, I forget I have food often, but damn if it isn't fun to make food. I wonder if there will be any food that has a party-wide effect..

Your stats scale down. Whatever buffs you have on your armor and stuff applies after this check. So yes, if you had a piece of armor that adds +1k Vitality, you'd have +1k HP in a level 3 zone.

I dunno about that. I just tested stuff. I put on gear that gave me +14 power, and my scaled power level only went from 36 to 42.
I would imagine that having the bonuses from high level stuff would still help a lot, but it would still be scaled.
So is anyone going to be recording the end of beta event?
I spent my last minutes with GW2 doing this.

Best thing in the game.
Shame the beta will be over by the time I get up tomorrow. Until next month!
Well, so far i've discovered that necro basically owns in pvp and defense. I could solo the 50 point bosses in structured pvp - the staff is a godsend, piercing shots + 4 traps to place down
ranger is also extremely fun, and you can stack major conditions with a longbow - pet ai is a bit glitchy though
engi feels a bit weaker slightly
guardian feels like a great support role, I planned on playing this, and i still do.
Edit: Does anyone have a suggestion for weps I should use as guardian/ranger?

Yeah checked it myself too. The stats do apply and the scaling is proportional to your level and what level your going to.
Going from lvl 20 and scaling down to lvl 12, all of my stats decreased by 59.677%(225 to 134) and compared to a level drop of 60%(20 to 12).
Sooo the scaling happens after stats are calculated. You still have an advantage though.
I'm going to miss GW2 :(
Do we know when the beta end event is?
