Last screens before the server exploded. Oh well :v. I had fun and look forward to our next meeting!
I was lagging so much trying to scroll down that list of HR screens, haha! You got some really nice shots though, I'm curious where is http://niggaupload.com/images/ojSXW.jpg taken? [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] lmao I just noticed the URL name.
i feel like elementalist is really pointless for pvp, slightly less so for wvw (if they're at the gates and afk i guess your aoe shit will actually work). in pvp you throw down some AoE attacks and people just casually walk out of them...

In chokepoints like gates, they have no choice to walk through them. Combine with someone tossing a Cripple at them and they're even more fucked (Unless the Guardian uses Martyrdom.) I typically use spells that have an AoE on impact.
It's sorta hard to describe, because i noticed the choices you make give you different missions, but as a norn its the personal story mission where you enter the snow leopard shrine, the lady leads you into the spirit world.
I really hope they release a bunch of statistics from the beta, i love statistics! [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] Though fuck Statistics class, i hated that class.

dangit just realised sigil for wep You deal +30% damage on your next attack after you swap to this weapon while in combat. im using that next beta get some 210% damage im guna make some thief pvp vids later today.

I think a good way to balance out pvp, and make it so your gear matters is this. Instead of worrying how level 1 player is going to deal with level 80 player, split the pvp up, into say 4 groups. Now you need to look at 4 groups, lvl 1-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80. Have specific pvp gear for each group but not the top gear, for example, everyone in 1-20 lvl group gets gear that would be equivalent to about lvl 15 character in PVE unless your items that you have already are better. That means that if you have better gear you can use it and have some sort of edge, but players below you aren't useless either. Obviously I pull the figures out my ass, Maybe 5 levels of a difference in items is too great, and lvl 1-20 players should get items that equal lvl 18 gear, but I still think you should be allowed to use better gear if you have it. Also I don't know if that is in place already, I actually forgot to look when I was PVP'ing but gear should have same stats as the gear you have in PVE but scaled up, If I have +3 power sword with 200-220 dmg it should keep same stats but be scaled up proportionally. Same should go with skill points, you should be awarded a set number of skill points, unless you have unlocked more because of higher level and whatnot, so you can pick skills you want in PVP, so in PVP lvl 1-20 you have a lot less available points than you would if you were lvl 80 in pvp. Ofcourse this shouldn't replace the current system, current system could always be renamed to arena mode or something.
I already miss it a bit :<
Ok, I did not do much in questing but I think it is safe enough to say this: It is like arenanet took all the good stuff about MMO's and improved on it and took all the "I wanted this to work so much why does it suck" stuff and fixed it and put it all into one nice little package and gave it to us. There is one thing I dont like and that is the exchanging gems for gold. Here is what I posted on the gw2 forums:
My question is does the exchange have a “Hard Limit” and a “Circuit Breaker” to prevent a mad rush of people who stock up on gems grabbing alot of gold suddenly which would tank the economy. If the gems to gold exchange rate was actually shown in game then it would work but if it gets to the point where it gets to pay2win then we have problems. Having hard limits that prevent a large group of people (or one extremely loaded person) causing a crash in the economy is the bane of all MMO’s. If there is too much trading from gems to gold, then a “circuit” should pop and would require arenanet to look at the economy and make sure it is stable before resetting it. If it is crashing, the exchange stays closed until it eventually recovers or you decide to do a rollback (the latter for more along the lines of a exploit). There is possibly a better way to go along with the gems2gold exchange (like, lets say put a hard limit on how many gems you can buy per month and how much you can have on you at one time) that would help this from snowballing out of control.
Really loved the beta, despite the Engineer not really being my kinda class I still enjoyed it loads. I just hope they'll work on optimizing the game a bit, it ran fine but in areas with a lot of NPC's or players it'd drop my framerate pretty significantly.
I was really excited for this game, but after watching some videos, I'm starting to get nervous. Despite being able to dodge and stuff, it the combat looks very MMOish. How does it actually feel?

How does it actually feel?
Feels very fresh and you don't get the same static feel from the combat as you would do from other MMO's. Of course there are similarities, but hey, this is an MMO after all, there are certain aspects of that genre that will never/hardly change. [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] You need to play it for yourself to really get the feel though, just watching videos doesn't get you a much better picture of the combat.

How does it actually feel?
The combat feels great. There's so much included with it that I barely even scratched the surface of, such as rapid weapon/attunement switching mid-combat to negate the wait on cooldowns. Once you factor stuff like that in, there's going to be some crazy combo-like stuff pulled off by some players.
I think a good way to balance out pvp, and make it so your gear matters is this. Blah blah WoW PVP iz gud.
The developers made the game so that gear doesn't matter. That's the point. It's the skill of the player not the stats of the armor that makes you good. MY GOD you are thinking so much like WoW terms. I completely disagree with everything you just said. WoW has the shittiest PVP ever (excluding Arena which isn't that bad and requires player skill alongside the gear stats).
I was really excited for this game, but after watching some videos, I'm starting to get nervous. Despite being able to dodge and stuff, it the combat looks very MMOish. How does it actually feel?
It is what it claims to be in this case. A new game with mechanics that haven't been seen in other MMOs before it. I got what I payed for and more in just the beta alone, but if you're expecting it to be a new genre of MMO then you're looking too far ahead.
I was really excited for this game, but after watching some videos, I'm starting to get nervous. Despite being able to dodge and stuff, it the combat looks very MMOish. How does it actually feel?
It's rather a unique concept really. You can cast regular skills like any MMO except most of them you can cast while moving. Dodging is brilliant and I absolutely love it. I use it all the time and it helps me survive some crazy battles and increases the tactics in any combat situation. One example I remember from last night was when we had a group of 50 people fighting a Champion Black Moa (BWE end event). The Moa would cast a spell that would grab and pull several players towards it, knock them down and smash the ground before it. It would do so much damage that it would bring your health down to at least 10% and the only way to avoid this is to dodge. It also makes it feel much smoother than just being able to walk slowly away from that red circle whilst jumping like a maniac pretending that would make a difference and you could dodge it that way. It feels more realistic actually being able to dodge and it actually doing something. Pictures/videos do NOT do it's justice. Reminds me of the first time I ported through an Asura Gate to the Black Citadel and saw the massive fortress in front of me. Even after watching video's and seeing pictures it did not prepare me for that situation of awe. Just like the Grand Canyon! I'm sure that ANet has something up their sleeves to control the economy. I rather enjoyed my experience through the trading post and gem store. Although I'm still curious how people think that this is going to be Pay2Win when the game is designed with player skill rather than player stats (even though the stats do help a little I don't think it's game changing). [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] Holy shit I was expecting to be ninja'd by now
Oh god i miss this game, why isnt anything else fun.

Also some of those posters need to read your post again as they obviously missed the concept. I understand where people are concerned as it even concerns me a bit. The ability to exchange: Money > Gems > Gold Then using that gold to purchase items in the Trading Post. It's a sensitive subject and I think the only way to have a conclusion is to wait a few weeks/months after release to see what happens.
