in PvP i think a warrior with a hammer is going to be a hell of a lot more to deal with than one with a greatsword. good luck trying to get away from a warrior with a hammer, just messing around testing some stuff i was able to keep a guy knocked down or immobilized the entire time and he wasn't able to get a hit off. It's basically a stun lock rogue from WoW pre-bc
urrgh yeh, i was in a bg once against 3 hammer warriors who went around together stunlocked to death wasnt fun
Hacks (Winner), Lance and I screwing around

i kind of want them to keep that bug i use that in pvp when defending
might try this out next beta for dagger dagger backstab spam

I think BC stunlock was way worse.
Old Mace Spec in season 3 gear with shadow step+cold blood build.
i'm so eagerly anticipating the next beta event that i'm planning out the most optimal set of hotkey bindings

Yeah I wonder myself what I should do about the 1-0 skill hotkeys. Quite hard to move around with wasd and reach for utility skills at the same time.

the letter keys around WASD work fairly well to replace 6-0/f1-f4. that includes QERTGZXCV (F omitted because it works fine left as interact), maybe YHB if you've got nimble fingers though QERTGZXCV covers all but one skill slot
but an important thing to keep in mind is that there's different ways of controlling the character to facilitate your binds. you can hold both mouse buttons to run to free up wasd in a pinch, and using mouse turning instead of keyboard turning frees up Q and E if you rebind A and D to strafe.
i think R is roll by default, that can be moved to a mouse thumb button (all gamers should) if you have one so that you have full directional control with your keyboard hand.
i'd recommend against any modifier keys (shift/ctrl/alt) until arenanet adds in modified binds. frequent alt-tabbing and ui hiding (ctrl+shift+h by default) to take screenshots before i fully explored binds drove me up the fucking wall when my character would stop attacking or roll off a cliff
I think next beta weekend I'll try Warrior and Thief, so far Mesmer and Engineer are hella cool (PISTOL/SHIELD OR NOTHING)
Next beta I think I'm going to try Ranger a bit more, or try a Thief, and go either dual pistols or sword and pistol.
Tried dual pistol on Engineer. Kind of felt weird that the Engineer NEVER used his off hand with this layout.
I'm going to keep skills 1-5 on numbers 1-5 but I do agree that the Utility skills can be hard to access. Normally I would use my mouse to click them because I don't use them that often (considering most of them have a long CD). The only thing that really bothered me what having to use F1-F4 to switch attunements as an Elementalist.
I have a Logitech G110 with 12 G-Keys but I never find them that convenient or I'm not sure how to properly set them up. Maybe I'll try different setups during the next BWE.
Honestly I never use the G-Keys except for Fraps... I'm just not used to having keys over there so I never really attempt to use them. Anybody have any recommendations on how I should set these up? I can keep Utility skills 6-10 but bind those on the G-Keys as well. Throw the F1-F4 on there somewhere because I'll need to be able to switch attunements really quick in combat.

I'm also going to be planning out what I'm going to do in the next BWE. I was to experiment with more stuff before release so that I can learn from any mistakes and not have to worry about them. Crafting is something big that I have to figure out.

I like how the keys are set up around WASD, Q and E to strafe, R to autorun, F to interact. I'm going to keep those that way. Been looking at the default setup and noticed that ZXCV aren't even used. I could use those for the F1-F4. OR the Utility skills! It would make more sense because primary skills are above WASD while the Utility skills are below WASD! Oh god I feel like a genius. :D
I always found strafe keys useless. A and D is fine for strafe. Instead, i replaced Q with heal, and E with elite. Worked wonders and felt great. XCV were utilities. Still not sure where to put attunements.
Good ideas, the Q for heal and E for elites make a lot of sense actually. That and zxc might become my ideal setup. I have a logitech keyboard with G-buttons as well, but I always forget to use them. Now is the time to do something creative with them.

Might consider moving it to XCV too. I found that Z was a pain in the ass to press during fast-paced pvp. My thumb didn't like turning that way.

Why use your thumb? Using your pinky or ring finger makes a lot more sense.

I can't reach Z with my pinky, lol. We might have differing keyboard layouts. <zxcv is what i have. I can reach < fine, so maybe that would work. But then i would have the pointless z key inbetween, messing with my OCD.
I feel too naked without a mouse. Wish it had 2 more buttons so i could have attunements on it.
we are addicted to the game before it even comes out

I can quit thinking about it anytime i want. I just don't feel like it.
For zxc, in the same way I move my middle finger up and down for w and s, I move each aligned finger down to reach them.
One of the first things I did was bind C to "target closest enemy" for that classic GW1 experience!
Actually it's kinda useful.
For zxc, in the same way I move my middle finger up and down for w and s, I move each aligned finger down to reach them.
But then you can't move at the same time.

I find it doesn't matter that much, since you can do it much faster than when reaching for a buttons like 789. And you could temporarily use M1+M2 to move while you use a skill. Or why not remap them to middle mouse, and side mouse buttons?
Fuckit, im doing it, im going for 30 in my HoM. Wish me luck mentlegen.
By far the most retarded thing in Guild wars 2 is that I cant bind spells to something like shift+1.
It can only be either shift or 1 but not shift+1
Fuckit, im doing it, im going for 30 in my HoM. Wish me luck mentlegen.
I barely made it myself, good luck. And don't go for 50.

I agree it's faster than 789, but I could never sacrifice any of the fingers on WASD. Also if you bind it to your mouse then you can't target while moving.
im glad thief only has 1 F1 button my f1 f2 f3 f4 are over to the right on my keyboard cant reach them without taking hand off wasd , binding all my stuff to numpad for naga, really want whift modifiers though
I'm used to using numbers 1-8 from gw1. 1-10 isn't that far of a jump.
