Those dragons look badass.
Also gonna repost this again: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Interviews
It's a big collection of all the major interviews and stuff. Lots of juicy info nuggets hidden away in there.
I love the fact that Valve and Arenanet are in the same neighbourhood. Bellevue seems like an awesome place for game studios.
In my experience, Bellevue is the most amazing place ever for anyone in the industry.
2017 is a bit optimistic, don't you think? :v:
I had a dream that GW2 was supposed to go in to open beta this week.
I woke up disappointed :smith:
CAN NOT FUCKING WAIT FOR THIS AND STILL I AM WAITING FOR OVER 4 FUCKING YEARS FUCK!

We all are, man.
I haven't heard much about this game, but I played and loved the first one. Where do the instanced areas start and the multiplayer world begin? Like in GW1 the cities it what I'd consider the multiplayer areas, but everywhere else was sort of a 4 player dungeon crawler.

Or is it similar to (I hate comparing games to another) SWTOR, where the singleplayer experience of your own character is instanced, but the rest isn't; also. How voice acted is the game.

It was more like 8 player instanced except for the early areas which were 4 or 6.
And in GW2 it's more like SWTOR, The maps are persistent, the towns are persistent, the dungeons are instanced.
GW2 is loads better than SWTOR though...

Nobody said it was/wasn't...

I know, I just said it is.
I haven't played the original GW. Read up on GW2 to see what it was all about and i'm so excited I can't wait until it comes out. I hope the specs for the game aren't too high or i'll be in trouble :smith:

They said that they are trying to make the game as scaleable as possible, and at one point, they had a build running on an older laptop of theirs.
Don't worry too much about it, I'm sure Arenanet will make sure everyone can play GW2!

I remember reading somewhere that if you were able to run Guild Wars, you could most likely run GW2. I'll have to look it up.

I do believe the quote was along the lines of: "We had to scour E-bay for old graphics cards in order to test whether or not they could run it, as no store could provide us with such old cards"
Iirc, they got it working properly even on cards that were considered "old" a year or so ago. So that basically means anything that runs GW1 decently will be able to run GW2.

This.
However, this does not mean that they are neglecting the high end of things.
There's a screenshot of somebody playing on the lowest possible settings, it looks hilariously bad but it means that almost everybody should be able to play if they want to.

make it stop
I like how they all have their names out, except for the few people that for some reason decided to remove them
I like how they all have their names out, except for the few people that for some reason decided to remove them
That was from the closed beta.

It's from the closed beta, they can't have their names in there or they'll get kicked out for breaking the NDA.

Well I had this old shitty e-machines computer that could run GW. Got a new computer since then, not TOO great, kinda old, but its wayyy better than that old e-machines.

Oh I just assumed it was an ANet taken picture, because of all those ANet player titles

I'm hoping to see a lot of new media now that it's closed beta. Most content will probably be removed/censored though.

That picture was from a Facepuncher who had a friend in beta, we probably won't get much other than that because it's all under NDA atm. But the results of this beta will determine the public beta date. Which means we can expect to hopefully get to try out the game without having to travel across the country.
Hello, fellow patrons of the GW2 thread. I, after many years of playing, have started my own guild, The Columbia Society [TOS]. I'm planning on it being rather social in nature, with members assisting each other with PvE and PvP as they see fit. I'm largely a PvE player, but I have been looking to get into some higher-level PvP, so we'll likely expand further in that direction as time goes on. We have a cape and a hall (Isle of the Dead), and I am currently working on gathering the funds to fill it out.
Now, if any of you would like to join up, here's the deal with recruiting right now:
-We are extremely new, currently only contains my personal friends.
-As we are so new, officer positions for new members are likely, though not guaranteed.
-I'm not elitist in the slightest when it comes to game skill and riches, but I am elitest when it comes to sociability and intelligence. I reserve the right to deny people entry simply because I don't like them.
-Your financial support in getting the guild running is greatly appreciated, but it is by no means required and I will not pester you or think any less of you for giving me nothing at all.
And lastly, an unusual but I think you'll find quite rewarding aspect of the guild: One of my main activities is going to rich cities (ex. Lion's Arch), and standing near the xunlai chests. I then ask people for vendor trash, unused weapons, skill tomes, etc. to give out to new players. I then proceed to an early-game city (Ascalon or Shingjea Monastery, perhaps) and hand out these donated items, as well as some of my own, to those who look as though they need them; players that are usually under lvl 20, and have no titles, minipets, or expensive-looking equipment. As the guild grows I'll be able to expand these activities, and you are more than welcome to join in. Anybody is welcome to help me gather donations (or to donate themselves), to organize and sell them, and to distribute to the newbies.
Thanks for reading my pitch. I know that most of you have been with a guild for quite some time, perhaps years, but for any of you who are floating free right now, I hope you'll consider my offer. The application process will pretty much consist of you contacting my character (Ben Stokes), answering some basic questions about the way you play, and generally having a conversation to see if you're the right fit for us and vice versa.
Hope some of you consider me for your non-elected guild official!

P.S. This thread has made this guild possible, since you guys provided the copies I needed to get my friends and family playing, as well as the motivation to get ME playing again after a hiatus. Thanks again.
