You'd be surprised at the amount of people that do shit like that.
I probably would. It's a sad world we live in.

I got to play with the Lead Writer of GW2 before and during the finale. :)

Also I think the other two in the party knew him personally or are Anet employees without the logo beside their name.
This BWE stuff felt easier. Not sure if it was just me getting more use to the way GW2 works or it was genuinely easier. I love the Norn area and it was fun seeing me (human at shortest height) running around with all these tall Norn characters. :v:
The Guardian is great. I love the Mace/Focus combo.

Probably know him personally because i ran AC with Old Ascalon Man and he was as clueless as we were.
I missed the end even because of timezones, but still... shit, I don't think I'll be touching a different MMO ever again.
Did anyone think that these events were also to test how massive a population could get without causing errors etc?
Did anyone think that these events were also to test how massive a population could get without causing errors etc?
Of course.
well I finally picked a class that I seriously enjoyed playing
which was guardian
I like how even if you get a 2h sword and hit shit like a truck you still have plenty of group utility spells
i pretty much only played my warrior, but it was just too much fun with hammers and rifles
I keep hearing the tune that plays when someone types into chat.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
I was going to upload some guild wars screens till I realised the ones I had taken were 7680x4320.
Now that I've finally had a chance to play this game, I can say for sure what I really enjoyed:
- Greatsword Warrior (tryndamere in a MMO, good god).
- Hammer Guardian (knock back into ranged immobilize, plus all the crazy utility on top of the damage)
- Fighting the giant wurm which randomly spawned on the farm in the human area (wasn't expecting that at all).
- Being able to switch "roles" and abilities easy.
- Charr starting area was pretty great.
- Bullet (I think) sent me burgers over the mail.
What I didn't like:
- Area events happen too frequently and are very repetitive/boring. Herding the cows in the Charr starting area, fixing the farm in the Human area. I was incredibly bored with most of this stuff
- Not as much cinematic/conversation as I had hoped. This might just be because the game isn't finished, but there's still a whole lot of text boxes to click through. I really enjoyed TOR and I'm used to cinematics/cutscenes for everything, so this might take awhile to get used to.
- Humans are complete pussies. Why do I feel the need to help everyone and anyone? Even the less respectable professions (thief, necro) act this way. Wasn't really a problem for the Norn or Charr, they more or less act like they would normally.
- Classes you would expect to fill classic "DPS" roles aren't very fun. This might just be my inexperience with the game. I love playing Rogue type classes for example, but leveling as my dual dagger thief was very difficult and boring. Did not enjoy Warrior either until I tried Greatsword Warrior.
- No easy method of trading, which I'm sure is temporary. Can't trade with characters on your account, which is really annoying.
- WvW was a bit of a let down, but that was a complicated issue. Our first match up, we completely dominated, so I had nothing to do. Second match up, we were being completely dominated, and I didn't know WHAT to do. Perhaps as I figure things out and learn how to position myself/play it will be more fun, but it's not really accessible for new players. Seemed to me the server with the most organized guilds win
Overall, I really enjoyed the BWE. There's definitely stuff though I think they need to improve on before release
I agree about the area events, I also disliked the lack of variety in NPC chatter. They could atleast change what different voice actors say instead of doing the Oblivion thing were 8 different voice actors say the same line.
I enjoyed PVP but it needs more maps and additions, hopefully they update it like a normal non-mmo would update their game because it's as fun as a real game.
Something that bothered me the most in Guild Wars 2 was not being able to preview armor/weapons/gear. I posted on the official forums and got this:
Q: Are there any plans to add an item preview feature? We've seen it before in games like LOTRO, where you could Ctrl+Right Click to preview an item on your character. It's an important feature for a game to have, and the capability is clearly there, as we've seen with the dye previewing system.
A: We are working on an item previewer right now. It unfortunately didn't make it in for BWE2, but we'll definitely have it prior to ship! -Ferg
i should also mention in the last few hours of the BWE that I played I finally realized you can move and attack at the same time
moving targets became 100x easier afterwards

Forgot about that, yeah that was pretty annoying.

I think everyone needs to realize that the events happen so frequently because it's only a beta weekend event. They need to make sure the most amount of people can try out all/most of the events for the purpose of testing.
I really should try greatsword warrior, I love hammer/bow warrior a lot but I'm hearing such good things about the greatsword.
I really should try greatsword warrior, I love hammer/bow warrior a lot but I'm hearing such good things about the greatsword.
Greatsword warrior was SO MUCH FUN for me. Hundred Blades is so insane! Everytime I use it I think of Colin saying "I swung a sword, that's great!"
Not to mention the animation.
[editline]11th June 2012[/editline]
Although Greatsword on Ranger was pretty fucking badass too.
I found thief pretty fun, but I felt like an absolute rubbish contribution in PvP compared to PvE. I helped deal a decent sum of damage, but I never really got the chance to use thief skills to top potential.
Here is my small list of suggestions I already posted on the official forums and thought I should post them here too so we can discuss them:
While playing through both Beta Weekend Events I’ve come up with a few things that have bothered me on several occasions. I’ll just post them all in one thread.
*Gear Preview
*Camera View Distance
*Better Trading Post filter
*Improve Ingredient storage
*Pet AI & Strength
*Multi Guild Chat
*Player Find?
Gear Preview
First, the main point of my thread – I want to see a gear preview feature. I want to have the ability to Ctrl/Shift Click and item to preview how it looks on my character without restrictions. Make it so you can see any armor, weapon or gear even if your character cannot use it. Several times I’ve wanted to know what a rare weapon looks like but the only way to do so is to equip it which makes it soulbound. Then I cannot sell it.
Camera View Distance
Second, I would like to see the ability to increase the camera view distance. I hate being so close to my character and it makes it difficult to see the battlefield. Especially when there’s so much going on. Maybe add a slider in the options to increase the maximum view distance so it doesn’t bother people who like it the way it is.
Better Trading Post filter
I’ve used the Trading Post a lot but it’s bothered me sometimes when I’m trying to find an upgrade for my character but it doesn’t provide me the right tools to do so. I know I can filter by level and quality, but why can’t I filter by class or stats? It gives me items for different classes that I cannot use. Even after clicking the ‘Usable by me’ button.
Improve Ingredient storage
Next is something a little cumbersome. I’ve been working on my chef/cooking profession and gotten it up to 136. The only problem I had was how much it ate up my bag space. Even with 56 inventory slots I always had to delete/use/sell random items. I know their is a feature to ‘Depost Collectable", but that doesn’t work on all ingredients. I have no idea why but some items labeled as ingredients doesn’t have this feature. Maybe have a separate bank tab for these crafted items?
EDIT:
Pet AI & Strength
My main is a Ranger and I really think that my pet is as important as me. I was having a lot of issues with the pets. Either they would die instantly or they wouldn't attack at all. Even if I pressed "Attack My Target (F1)" they would sit there doing nothing. The only way they would attack is if they got damaged. Then the pet would die almost instantly and because useless to me until the fight is over (or the swap cooldown has cooled down). Which is another feature that I hope is NOT a bug, the ability to swap pets to instantly revive them but have a long cooldown.
Multi Guild Chat
I would like to have the ability to chat with multiple guilds at a time. I wasn’t able to test it out during the BWE2 so I don’t know if it’s been added or not, but this will be something important to me during release. Since we have the ability to be apart of multiple guilds (but only represent one), what’s the point if we can’t communicate with them?
Player Find?
Since this game is based upon working together with friends or random people in a team, I think it would be easier to find them. I’ve had many situations where I couldn’t figure out where my friends were playing unless I added them to my party. Even then I had to ask them to ping their location. I know you can hover over their name and it gives you their general location, but I’m wondering if there’s a way to improve this system? Maybe have the option to search for friends on the map? Or be able to toggle people in your friends list/guild to preview their locations on the map?
I’ll add more as I remember them. There was so much going on during the beta. Everything was outstanding Arenanet! Keep up the good work! I really look forward to next BWE and release.
Also for those who had issues with getting in the same Dungeon Instance with other players it's a known issue:
Dungeons
If multiple members of a party create a dungeon simultaneously, they will go to separate instances.
To prevent this from happening, parties should allow a single member to create and enter the dungeon instance first, with the remaining party members following a few moments later.
If a party is split between simultaneously created dungeon instances, players should leave all but one of the instances, wait up to six minutes, and attempt to enter the desired instance.

[editline]11th June 2012[/editline]
Also it bothers me that people don't like the out of bounds content:
https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/bugs/Glitching-outside-of-the-game-boundaries-BWE2/page/1#post238659
I really think this adds to the exploration of Tyria and should stay. I had having the feeling that I'm stuck within a certain boundary and I cannot adventure in an adventure game to uncharted areas!
Still can't decide what to play here, but i intend to make my choice as soon as they allow sylvari/asura for BWE.
Only thing killing it for me so far has been the underlevelling. Done every event and found every point yet still 4 levels behind the main story? Fuck you
These are really interesting.
Q: What goes in to preparing for the Beta Weekend? I've participated in numerous Betas, but I am curious as to what goes on behind the scenes. Thanks so much for the AMA, can't wait for Friday!
A: What goes on behind the scenes? Well first of all we've all worked furiously getting the beta build ready for you. We've been testing the hell out of it and squashing any bugs we can find. When hundreds of thousands of people start playing on Friday at noon, generally that uncovers some new bugs, which we fix that day. Then we spend the weekend playing the game with you, reading your posts and feedback, and taking notes about what's working and what's not working.
The key issue we face with testing GW2 is that it's such a social game that it just plays completely differently with thousands of players logged in than it does in smaller internal play-tests. So every hour of play in a beta weekend is super valuable to us. Immediately afterward we make all our plans for what we need to fix/tweak/change prior to the next BWE.
Never noticed that I was under leveled, hell, I actually out leveled the content by quite a bit.

isn't that like cause you're supposed to do more than the quests
isn't that like cause you're supposed to do more than the quests
Doesn't crafting give exp? and theirs nothing to stop you doing old content, because it scales you down level wise the exp is still relevant, even in for example, the level 2 charr heart.
Doesn't crafting give exp? and theirs nothing to stop you doing old content, because it scales you down level wise the exp is still relevant, even in for example, the level 2 charr heart.
Yes crafting gives experience. You can do whatever you want to gain experience. You can explore, do events, help friends, pvp, craft, quests, mining/etc, etc etc
I found being different classes and having different stories (Don't know if that affects it) results in your character gaining different kind of experience.
Like when I made a Charr ranger the first story quest-lines was going back and forth speaking to people and then eventually kill something, but being a Human Paladin made my first mission kill over 15 enemies.
Unfortunately I spent most time with one single class which can result in not so accurate information but I don't know, this is just my opinion.
Did anyone do any significant crafting? im curious how armour smithing is, i'd likely grab that on my guardian on live.
