Guys, I'm going to the U.S for the entire summer, but I live in Ireland, if I pre-order/buy the game in the U.S, will I still be able to use my account here in Europe? Or does it do the same bullshit as WoW?

it does have some sort of regional blocking shit so you better not
You can try support@guildwars.com.
Gw1 didn't have region blocking, I doubt this will have either. Having no region blocking and ability to jump form Euro server to American to Asian was pretty great (not like i'd do anything in Asian server). It would be dumb by arenanet to make this game region blocked.

If I recall correctly, they have separate game clients for US and EU players. So you would have to buy it in EU if you are planning to play in a EU country. This doesn't mean you can't play on NA worlds when you're based in EU. It apparently means that if you bought the game in EU, you have a EU client program. If you travel to the US, it notices and wants you to be playing on a NA client program. Not sure why they did that.
That sounds pretty dumb. That most likely means no EU vs NA pvp. Only reason for that would be Germany, and the fact that they can't see blood in games for some reason. That's why Tera had watered down -no blood version in eu.
That sounds pretty dumb. That most likely means no EU vs NA pvp
Do you even understand what he is saying? It means that if you bought it in the US you can only play in the US, and if you bought it in the EU you can only play in the EU. You can still access everything in the game, the only thing affected is the ability to log in.

In gw1 you could log in with the same account anywhere anytime, and play with anyone. Not including that feature is just silly.
Technically you can log in anywhere anytime if you have the proper client :v: [editline]awd[/editline] And I think they said that they are looking at options for people who travel a lot.

I'm pretty sure GW1 actually did have region blocking between (i think) taiwan and the rest of the world, it was removed about two years ago.
Well, it turns out you can go onto other regions servers, but it is region locked otherwise. So you can't take it out of the region you bought it in. This is completely dealbreaking for me, I travel a ton back and forth between Europe and the States. So that means I can only play this for only a little more than half a year. Bloody shame too, I was really looking forward to this.

I feel like they will have an option to unlock your account for all regions for some kind of fee. If not, then theoretically, buying the game twice, once in Eu and once in Na would be a solution, but obviously it still sucks. You'd have two accounts, and two gw2.exes, but they would use the same data file. You could acess either account anywhere, based on which exe you open. In theory, from what I understand. Don't stab me if im wrong. Edit: actually I just thought a litle more, I feel like it would be linked as info on your account, and not off the exe. Idk. I'm just babbling.
read an article earlier http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/06/14/guild-wars-2-could-launch-before-thanksgiving-release-date-anno/?a_dgi=aolshare_facebook

Guild Wars 2 could launch before Thanksgiving, release date announcement 'imminent'
Yes, Guild Wars 2 fans, we know that ArenaNet can't put the game out quickly enough. Believe us, we know. Thankfully, some new information uncovered through a bit of detective work on behalf of Gamebreaker's Jason Winter indicates that we may not have to wait too much longer. Financial reports issued by Korean Development Bank's securities firm, which is one of the largest brokerage firms in Korea, have included a number of documents involving the much-hyped title, in which predictions are made for a Guild Wars 2 release date in Q3/Q4 2012 (likely before Thanksgiving) and an "imminent" release date announcement. Keep in mind that this isn't just some random guy on the internet; these predictions come from people who report on these things for one of the largest brokerage firms in Korea, which means a lot of money (and probably some jobs) are on the line. To get the full details straight from Winter himself, go check out the full video on Gamebreaker, but take it all with a grain of salt. As ArenaNet is fond of reminding us, nothing is official until Anet says it is, and the game will be out when it's ready.
soooo tl;dr a bunch of bankers think it'd be likely to release before/around thanksgiving

I agree that it's a stupid move on their part, but don't write the game off until you know what they offer for people who travel a lot.

Threads slowing down again, better post some art [t]http://www.arena.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Hyojin-Sample-B.jpg[/t] (holy shit thats massive)
I noticed...
I started to make Tyria in the Civilization 5 map editor. I got bored and quit. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qHD8y.jpg[/img_thumb] Notice that most of the east side is just unfinished outlines.
holy shit 12,000 file patch! [editline]15th June 2012[/editline] Just under 600MBs [editline]15th June 2012[/editline] and this:
This might seem like an odd question but does anyone know if the downloaded beta files will be updated incrementally to the full release files? I live in the countryside and having to download roughly 25gb twice would be a real pain in the ass :(
Yes it should be the same files, they will just continue to patch them.
Everything is inside the GW2.dat file. Whenever updates occur then they are added to the .dat. Updates in the first game were very quick and it seems that it's just as good for this.
Moved out a week ago and didn't have internet until just 10 minutes ago so I missed the beta weekend. How was it? Was the new utility skill system better?
I didn't like the tiers. It made me feel like I was forced to buy skills I wasn't interested in to get to the skills I wanted.
I was worried of that, but just kind of thought that if I'm going to be leveling anyways I probably want to experience all the different skills before I choose specific weapons/skills to do dungeons with. By the time you're 80 you'll have most of the skills unlocked and the rest would just be skillpoint hunting.
i actually really liked the tier system. Before to me it just felt like there was 2-3 op builds for each class where you just get the top tier of each line. i mean teir system for traits. Didn't really experience the utility skill side because i only pvp'd which unlocks them all anyway.
