I feel like I won't have time to play this game if I buy it. I move into my dorm for my freshman year of college on August 25th, which is when the headstart would begin if I prepurchased.

More computer problems. Computer stops doing anything at Starting Windows (running windows 7 64 bit). Computer tried to repair it after it realized the startup didn't work, and that changed nothing. Tried putting in my Win7 installation disk, and it gets stuck at the same point. The computer hasn't [i]frozen[/i] in those exact terms - I can see the Win7 logo pulsating, which would normally mean it is loading, but it has been doing this for maybe 10-20 minutes. Going to give it like 10 more minutes and then unplug all my non-vital usb stuff, which was recommended by the internet. I think I need to invest in a laptop for when this crap happens

It was failing and lagging the whole system. I setup my hard drives to separate my OS from my personal documents from my software. What kind of hard drive is it and how old is it? Have you run any tests on it or tried swapping hard drives? Can you boot into safe mode at all? It obviously can detect the hard drive since it gets past POST. Each of my three hard drives are fairly old, if I recall correctly. I couldn't tell you model or manufacturer without opening up the computer and taking it out (not easy). How could I test by swapping hard drives? Booting from a win7 CD doesn't even work. Fails to get into safe mode - gets stuck at CLASSPNP.sys . I am google searching this Most of the solutions I find to my problems always say to boot into windows recovery/repair, which I cannot do, if I am understanding it correctly. Since booting from a disk doesn't even work, I cannot get into that, correct?

Kind of annoying that they aren't running an open beta on a game that already has a notorious reputation for being fairly unoptimized. I've played the game, just not on my computer, and it's really the only thing stopping me from pre-ordering.

Darn, I really wanted to have an MMO to play through summer. Oh well, year 3 of middle school is pretty much the year of "do fuck all for 9 months in a row!"

Didn't play BWE2, but this stress test I ran GW2 on the highest settings with 30-40 FPS. Which was a major difference from only getting 15-20 FPS on BWE1.

To change what drive the system boots off of, just enter BIOS and find it.

I installed Win7 to another hard drive, and managed to get most of my data back. Such a bothersome past few days.

Holy shit is this game seriously coming out august 28th? i thought they would have more BWEs and stuff before this but i guess if the game is ready it's ready. I can't complain that's like 3 months sooner than i thought!

This isn't probably the best place to ask this, since everyone is biased, but would you recommend this game to a longtime MMO fan? I've been mainly playing WoW lately and it's getting stale and I don't want to pay monthly fees any more. I've been hearing good things about GW2, but I have no idea about ANYTHING in the game and I never played GW1. Is the beta open all days to people who've pre-ordered, kinda like the Mists of Pandaria beta for WoW currently, or is it only open during the testing weekends people are talking about? Thanks for any info you can give me, much appreciated.
