idk man, I absolutely destroyed every mob I encountered in PvE on my warrior.

Oh wow, I just realized that I misread it.
You are probably right.
Haha! Since we have over 80 members in our guild (and growing) we should do something similar.

Nope
Also, shit, reddit /guildwars2/ stole my idea.
Race side by side of tallest and shortest.

I like how the smallest norn is as tall as the tallest human.
I think if they specially designed an arena for it and tweaked the hunger factor a bit so you're not starving to death within 2 minutes or there's more rations available that give a better boost, it could be a really fun diversion.
though annoying, I actually think the starvation speed and lack of rations is brilliant. you're forced to break away from the safety of your group out of necessity, if you stay in a pack the people up front will absorb any rations and the rest of the group will just wither and die from not finding anything of their own.
That also lends to the size of the area a bit, you have the room to get away and find stuff to maintain yourself without worrying about a dozen greedy teammates making a mad dash for it. This mechanic is a bit hidden from first glance but it does make the game a bit more interesting strategy-wise. You have to actually think and fend for yourself, balancing time grouping up with allies and foraging for sustenance. There's some encampments that have fast respawning rations and such, but they're marked on the map so if you do find a place to just live off the land, it won't be for long. Maybe coordinating well with a guild group via voice would be beneficial in maintaining a good sized wolfpack, sharing rations and other stuff evenly

Oh come on, that heritage armor looks amazing but I lost access to my original GW account ages ago... this blows.
Ah well, wouldn't look good on an Elementalist anyway I imagine.

think if I pray hard enough I can get into the Guild Wars 2 beta?
I'm having a tough time deciding too buy this. I want too, but I want to play with friends and have fun. I never got to do that in any MMO that I buy.
SWTOR that I bought was a waste of 70$.

At this point I think you'd need a divine intervention to get into the beta which has finished

You can pray all you want, but the beta is over. Prepurchase to get 3 day head start though.

I'd consider platinum edition, but do people still play either game?
At this point I think you'd need a divine intervention to get into the beta which has finished
Well shit.
Suppose I'll have to look up gameplay videos.
Got any recommendations on videos I can watch, to get a decent glimpse of the combat, and leveling up sort of deal?
I asked a few pages back, and someone was helpful. I'd like a little more in depth though.
If I got the game, who would I have to contact to get in with the FP guild, if there was one?
Also, Class? I'm thinking about being a Charr, but I'm not sure which sort of route Guild Wars has, like, a healer.. DPS, or a combination? Is there any where I can read up on that as well?
Or perhaps a Human .. Elementalist is it?

GW2 is unlike any MMO. It's about skill, not time spent grinding. There are no archtypes, everything is DPS but can branch into survivability and healing, but you can't tank or heal. The combat is really awesome, more like an action game than a MMO. Watch some PvP videos, that should entice you.

So I won't be doing repetitive quests? How's the pacing? I'm not going to go too one area being severely under leveled?
What's the recommended? I've played Vanilla WoW, and beyond that. I do have some recollection of skills towards MMO's. I'd just like to know, what 'dominates' most in PvP?

The platinum comes with GW Prophesies and Eye of the North, I was asking if people still played either.
Anyone wondering what the other items look like then click the link and then press the reward meter

the quests are more repetitive than people make them out to be but they're so well-integrated into the game that it's easy to overlook the grind
and i've heard warrior is the best at pvp right now? idk i didnt touch structured at all

The pacing is beyond fantastic, I never even had to worry about it. As for PvP, any class can dominate in the right hands, but AOE damage often has the most immediately tangible effect on a WvWvW battle, which is easy to dish out close-range or long-range as a warrior.

The only 'quests' are your personal story which you can do on your own time or completely skip if you like (but it's recommended not doing so). There are Events around the world that you basically run around and find things that people need help doing and you have the choice to do them or not! Most of them are fun, interesting and unique. After you do a few you almost forget that this isn't a grind.
I think if you enjoy MMO's and are looking for a suitable substitute to your hunger then I would highly suggest Guild Wars 2. You sound a little skeptical about the games features, so I would refer you to several video's that might help you. The first and most beneficial one would the the Manifesto if you haven't seen it already:

I have an old but huge playlist of several GW2 videos of all types.
Then I have my own playlist with my own personal videos I've created/uploaded.
(about to add some more from BWE3)
Of course you could always read up on information from the Official Wiki!
I was underwhelmed by the questing stuff. It started to get tedious pretty quickly, especially the Norn zone which had a lot of "kill x of y, or bring me x of z" events and escorts, which are never good in any video game ever.
I'd probably pass on GW2 if it had monthly fees because I just have more fun in WoW but the no fees thing means I can approach it as I want to and feel like I'm not wasting money every hour I'm not grinding.

I have a friend who hates MMOs and never plays them, but he really got into GW2 this last beta weekend.

Same here, my friend was an FPS freak and absolutely hated MMO's until I got him into CBT.

Will this game have a subscription fee btw?

It's less grind than most MMO's but still grind when I have an objective that says "Kill bandits or bring me supplies to fill this bar".
