Yeah I will agree with that.
First off, grinding in Guild Wars 2?
Second, you have fun....grinding?
there is no such thing as an mmo without grind
its how they execute the grind that separates them
I really loved the dialogue and little secrets you can find , i wonder how long its going to take first lvl 80 im going to guess 5 days.
the quests are more repetitive than people make them out to be but they're so well-integrated into the game that it's easy to overlook the grind
and i've heard warrior is the best at pvp right now? idk i didnt touch structured at all
Warriors really weren't that special to be honest in the higher glory bracket it was mostly guardians axe rangers and condition engineers that would come top. People only think warrior is good because of 100 blade if you dodge it or use a stun breaker you have beat the warrior.
They do dominate mesmers though just cleaving everything.
It was quite a joke facing warriors on my ele because of blind stun and knock back you can do.
Mostly though i found it balanced apart from guardians face rolling 2 people with spirit weapons because of the spam knockback.

I saw a level 40 during BWE3:
[t]http://i.imgur.com/D0fXc.jpg[/t]
I asked him how and he said he has no life and pretty much didn't get any sleep.
think if I pray hard enough I can get into the Guild Wars 2 beta?
I'm having a tough time deciding too buy this. I want too, but I want to play with friends and have fun. I never got to do that in any MMO that I buy.
SWTOR that I bought was a waste of 70$.
Thing is, there's no subscription fee, so you can play whenever you want.
Buy it.

I feel sad for him. :(
So after 3 BWEs I was finding a lot of heart quests to be so tedious.
The DEs are okay, except for the odd one.
I decide to try WvW, and found myself ditching PvE completely for it, for the rest of the weekend.
Holy crap it's just way more fun.
NCsoft is literally the least competent company on the face of the earth.
i got to 35 by day 2 and got plenty of sleep all weekend
sputted out and got bored as fuck by day 3 due to lack of content but i wouldn't say getting 40 is that bad
From what I've been watching, and what was linked earlier by: Bullet100
I'm probably going too buy this game. I won't be able to preorder it, but I will probably go out to buy it day one at release in the nearest store.
However, since I know I don't have any friends, who will I have to talk too about getting into the little FP guild that may happen? Perhaps lead me over things if they've played through the beta's, just so I can get a easy concept and grasp for the game, so I can solo when people aren't always around.

The FP guild is going to be created day one of the three day head start.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/fEDZ5.jpg[/t]
You can talk to Newbienice99, Winner or I about getting in the Guild, but I believe the first few days we are going to make it available for anyone in the guild to invite.
Oh and I'll be your friend.
Will we be in Ring of Fire on release as well?
EU players will be on Ring of Fire, NA will most likely stay on Gate of Madness.

The FP guild isn't gonna be that little, it had quite some people iirc. The game also has quite a comprehensive tutorial which makes things a lot easier to grasp. And iirc (didn't mess around with the guild system too much) anyone can invite people into the guild so I am sure one of us will invite you at release.
[editline]aweed[/editline]
I myself will not be representing [FP] a whole lot though since I will probably create my own guild so I can play with 10 or so of my irl friends.

It had over 80 members during BWE3.
[editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
We might disable the guild invite feature for everyone except officers and the GL after a few weeks so that we don't get random people.
Well shit.
Suppose I'll have to look up gameplay videos.
Got any recommendations on videos I can watch, to get a decent glimpse of the combat, and leveling up sort of deal?
I asked a few pages back, and someone was helpful. I'd like a little more in depth though.
If I got the game, who would I have to contact to get in with the FP guild, if there was one?
Also, Class? I'm thinking about being a Charr, but I'm not sure which sort of route Guild Wars has, like, a healer.. DPS, or a combination? Is there any where I can read up on that as well?
Or perhaps a Human .. Elementalist is it?
this video is kinda long but the guy gives a lot of insight on how the beta went, and how he feels the game is fixing things that have been a bother in MMOs of the past. I'd take his word for it, he has 1,660 videos on youtube and rising because he used to upload 4-5 videos solely about WoW daily in his height of the game. One thing I love about the video (aside from his ability to talk coherently and consistently the entire time whilst playing) is the fact that he actually gets swept away in the very thing he was talking about, spending most of the video doing the thing he was praising for being so unique

Elementalist can heal, though the moves are sparse and overwhelmed by aggressive abilities. Only the water element can heal, and in each of your weapon combinations there's maybe only two of the five abilities that will heal anything, and they have 15-30 second cooldowns. There's class-learned abilities you can learn and use, you start out with one that lets you gain a boon for 30 seconds or so based on your current element (also healing yourself for a good amount on use). Under water element you gain regeneration, and I'm not quite sure if it also affects nearby party members.
Still, it's more of an aggressive support class if you're looking to cover a few bases. Fire>strict DPS, water>damage and healing, air(lightning)>aoe/crowd control, earth>good for soloing, DPS and defense. I'm probably going to put most (if not all) of my specialized points into fire and earth
Ele were pretty fun some of the fire abilities could use faster animations though, you can quite literally just walk away from dragons tooth without dodge rolling.
I used scepter dagger in pvp and i spend most of my time in air, water would give me a 3k heal every so often using 2 skills one an aoe you can place on the floor and the other water exploding from you healing everyone in range.
Ele is probably one of the harder classes to play because of attunement changing but its quite rewarding. In pvp i was persistently switching through all the attunements. Earth was the least useful giving a quick knock-down to stop people stomping your allies or stop them healing others. I would chain that into switching fire and dropping a dragons tooth phoenix and fire grab which would almost one-shot people using a burst build. You could also set up this burst using the skill 5 in air attunement and do the combo again , fire grab had a long cooldown though.
Rolling a build that focuses on healing inst very good in pvp you can slightly heal but really no more than 5k so you could maybe save someone from getting downed before there heal is off cd but you need to be able to do good damage too.
Ele is also one of the most mobile classes so you can make your way around the map very fast to cap new points.

I was laughing when we had the photo op in lion's gate and they said "race back to the portals!" and I was the last to start (was mid-sentence in chat)
gained natural speedboost from the air element boon ability, then used the dagger off-hand lightning thinger that made me zap super fast forward, passed the group up before they got over the first bridge

haha, that ride the lightning ability saved my ass so much, was just oh no 2 more people have started fighting me, remove target turn around and you disappear.

bah i want to play ele but i also want to use my felblade on warrior
i also managed to get a 16k crit with hundred blades my builds need work but ill post them in a bit.
[editline]26th July 2012[/editline]
Different warrior builds i used, They need some tweeking but they all worked very well.
( i cant find anywhere that shows the traits by name which is annoying)
Dps 2x1h axe , 1h axe shield, main point is to just use 2 which puts up weakness and spam auto attack with frenzy. 2k autohits + chance to bleed switch weapon on 2-3 adrenalin for 8k+ eviscerates.
Strength 30 runes, V ,VIII, X
Arms 30 runes , V I XI
defence and tactics 0
Discipline 10 III ( essential for pvp really increases speed while using mele weapons
-------------------
2h sword crit build, crits stack might extra adrenalin and weakness too if i remember right.
30 III IX XII
30 V VIII X

10 III
range bleed spec good for big mobs because shots penetrate including the burst skill sniper shot which can hit 8k's Rifle ,axe shield

In regards to the platinum edition of GW 1 I asked about earlier, do people still play Prophesies or Eye of the North?
In regards to the platinum edition of GW 1 I asked about earlier, do people still play Prophesies or Eye of the North?
Mid-Prophecies is a bit dead, seeing as you can skip 21 of the 25 missions in Prophecies. Eye of the North is still fairly popular.

I want to play a bunch with making the build I was leaning into last weekend actually worth something, but I haven't the slightest clue how to do that. Still, I think the first thing I need to do is work on my hotkeys, because I'm a bit of a fumbler when it comes to doing some things. I'm a lefty, so my WASD is far away from the homerow numbers. In fact, I use the numpad on the right of the board, which is great for my general control comfort but obviously I'm going to have to either mouse-pick abilities (something berated really hard since forever), or lift one of my hands to play with my hand on the homerow.
Now, I've gotten used to moving keyboard-only, and only realized later that there's an 'about face' key I could set that would be pretty useful for faster movement control, but up until now I've had issues with my keyboard that hindered me using its gaming functions-

My keyboard comes with 18 programmable keys on the left side there, with three sets of memory to choose from. This was GREAT when I first got it, not even specifically for gaming; Shortcuts in programs are a blast and I always love setting things like that up.
But, at some point, it decided it hated me, and the drivers would freeze up on login. It's been like this for a year, and I couldn't do anything about it. This freezes up the clock/info panel (which I've never seen work on any game I actually play), and disables the side set of keys, since they're software controlled.
Halfway through beta, I looked at my keyboard, and JESUS CHRIST NUMBERS ABOUT WORLD COMPLETION
the keyboard works 24/7 now and is apparently already set for gw2 I'm so confused, I think guild wars cured it
So now that I have to think with these keys again, ideally I'd be able to set up the three sets to take care of set functions; as ele, top six would be F1-F4 for sake of element swap, and probably target next and target friendly or something, can't remember if that was an option
mid-six would be 1-5 for weapon abilities and maybe target nearest (which I have bound to a key on the numpad already), and bottom six would be 6-whatever for the class skills and maybe (if possible?) items to use from my bag.
so, this way I could maneuver however I need with my numpad and toggle stuff, or if I want to do more AOE things (that require mouse-placed targeting) I could use mouse left-right click-hold movement and take my right hand off the movement set, but still be able to control targeting and junk
argh so many keeeeeys

I have the lesser model of that, the G110 and I only have 12 G-keys. So far I've only found use of two of them. I always wanted to make them work with games but I find that it would be difficult to move my hand to press any of those keys while in the middle of gaming. I strive to play without looking at my keyboard so that I can be as focused and as fast as possible with my reactions. Having to move my hand or look down at my hands would destroy my ability of doing so.
If you're using those G-keys for something else, I'm curious as what you have set as your screenshot button then? I need to update my keyboard layout/diagram too.
[editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
Sometimes I wish I had three hands.
[editline]25th July 2012[/editline]
Anybody else have this problem? What about a solution? :D
I've decided on Charr Engineer and Human Elementalist. I'm looking forward to lightning aoe attacks in pvp
i used 1-5 , a1-4 for utilities and E for elite. with the naga class abilties 1-4 on numpad and alt 1 weapon switch
I move with wasd and use right-click+drag to look around and direct myself. It's how I played GW1. Then I typically use 1-5 on the keyboard and click 6-0 with the mouse. But I usually forget that and click 6-0 on the keyboard anyway.
Playing Prophecies now because I'm considering buying EOTN for the HoM stuff. Human ranger fighting off worms, devourers, and bandits trying to light shit on fire.
Some shit don't change man.
Is there a naming rule against giving yourself titles becuase some of my gw1 names are stuff like mhenlo the mad, and victos master
