It'll probably be like the press's test and be a week end. I don't think we'll have access to as much as they did, and like someone has said here before, it'll probably be for WvWvW. Personally, I think they'll have some week ends for dungeons and various areas to find small bugs. As a wise man once said, "You can't hire someone to fuck something up as well an an end user." After the bug phase they'll have stress testing for the servers, and most people signed up in the beta will get in there.
Sadly that will be near the end/before release!
Holy fuck that WvW part at the gate... too bad it won't be like that when you actually play (odds are there will be a ton of lone wolfing...)
Are castle gates really gonna take 20 minutes to take down
Are castle gates really gonna take 20 minutes to take down
If they don't fix it, yes... One of the video's I watched the narrator said that was on purpose so the defenders can have a chance to strike back. http://uk.ign.com/videos/2012/02/20/guild-wars-2-world-vs-world-pvp You get to see it around 15:00 - 16 and he explains it
Sadly that will be near the end/before release!
Well yeah, it kind of has to. And at that point, the NDA and reporting bugs are much less important since the last phases would have gotten the critical problems and it's so close to the release they can risk more people leaking. Basically, it's perfect for people like
I've been in a lot of betas. Never bothered to give feedback. I just play the fuck out of it because chances are, I won't be buying the game when it releases
Also watching that yogocast video the guilds could really unbalance things just because of coordination :p So basically worlds that have large guilds will probably do better
Also watching that yogocast video the guilds could really unbalance things just because of coordination :p So basically worlds that have large guilds will probably do better
I've read somewhere that it is possible for two people (coordinated and certain classes) can defend against and army. Let me see if I can find the source. "2 coordinated players could hold off an army depending on the gear, levels and play style, of the attackers. It would be very difficult though, do to everyone being able to resurrect." http://www.guildmag.com/guild-wars-2-reddit-ama-squads-and-more Question # 123
Also watching that yogocast video the guilds could really unbalance things just because of coordination :p So basically worlds that have large guilds will probably do better
The idea is that every world will be large enough and there would be a couple large guilds in each server. And if you remember playing the faction battles in GW1, there we're sometimes large mobs just going around killing and capping everything, but the other team usually broke into smaller groups and recaptured everything behind them. They're probably aiming for a system similar to that, but with higher roles for the larger mobs to aim for.
It's going to be Warhammer Online, the side with the biggest zerg is going to win because player ability means nothing in 40vs40 fights. I like the idea but I'm not looking forward to WvW at all, roll in the 5v5 arena.

Granted there will be some guilds with massively skilled people in it that won't have to zerg to take out objectives and such, but i have a feeling that's going to be a bit of a rare sight
Just saw this and it still blows my mind: [t]http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/4284/1330204612422.jpg[/t]
holy shit [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] I was all like "yeah right we know the maps are big" and then I saw this picture holy SHIT
pretty much this, it's just going to be a lot of zerging. I know it's gone into beta and all, but i'm just gonna try and stay away from general in game media surrounding the beta, I would much rather see the whole entire finished product than get a sneak peek. Plus my computer would need a serious makeover to even fucking run it :v:
So I was going through my NVIDIA Control Panel looking at games with compatibility with my drivers and then I find this: Spooky! [editline]1[/editline] Must've been the computer specs thing... or not, a friend who did the computer specs check doesn't have it.

Our clans are used to do tactics but on a way smaller community so it will be a big and fun challange

I didn't install that lame driver.
I've had bad experiences with large siege PvP type things in the past (namely Age of Conan) so I'm not going in with high expectations for the WvWvW in GW2. Granted, it will definitely be better than the AoC siege PvP stuff, I still don't think it's going to be as amazing as they're trying to make it out to be. I'll most likely be focusing on organized PvP a lot more than the WvWvW, but i can't do anything but wait and see how it turns out
Well at least there's no sub fee so I don't have to feel terribly guilty about leaving the game if I end up hitting the end game and not liking PvP. I plan on doing mostly PvE but I'll dabble in PvE
Are castle gates really gonna take 20 minutes to take down
in that yogocast video it wasnt even the "main" castle for the area, I think it was a minor keep or something.
Are castle gates really gonna take 20 minutes to take down
See i fucking love long battles as long as they balance it wouldn't give a damn if 1 battle took an entire day i'd love every minute of it, in WoW pre-bc 17 hour AVs were fucking epic.

In that case i'd rather have it a shorter steam-roll fest rather than a long one

You alone can be everywhere else.
Found some pretty cool modeling videos for GW2: Modeling a Shield Part 1 Modeling a Shield Part 2 Modeling a Shield Part 3 Modeling a Shield Part 4 Grawl Sword Part 1 Grawl Sword Part 2 Grawl Sword Part 3 Grawl Sword Part 4 Texturing videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifLgZ818GC4 (Tequatl The Sunless) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33MYrU3UV_o (Charr) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cI6IP6ihjY (Golem) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWY_qZiCTDY (Golem) Sample texture/normal/bump layout: [t]http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/1/55893/668513/kitten_640.jpg[/t]
Also, folken is working on updating his Build Tool: http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/?lang=en The update isn't released yet because he is still gathering information from the Press Beta.
bullet100 provides all the good updates cheers mate
Colin just updated us with some nice info:
Renown Hearts (by Anthony Ordon on KillTenRats) http://www.killtenrats.com/2012/01/20/gw2-just-play/ Meta-Events: (See halfway down by Devon Carver) http://www.arena.net/blog/beta-development-update Dynamic Events, Personal Story, Dungeons, etc. You know that stuff! In the beta weekend, there were generally 2 or more large meta dynamic event chains in each of the maps available. These meta event chains are made up of usually in the ballpark of 5-20+ events chaining and branching in various different directions. They stand out because even if no events are currently running, you'll see unique UI for them that tells you the state of the world as a result of the events that occurred in the area. Meta events generally have the largest amount of world impact of any event chains, making large sweeping changes to huge chunks of a map in the world. Dynamic events have varying impact from small (new merchant who sells stuff) to massive (explosions!!) depending on the scope and important of the event. You'll find the early part of the game tends to be a bit easier to help guide people into the game and not overwhelm them at first. There are optional much harder areas available in those maps for folks looking for larger challenges, and group events even in the starter maps as well designed to be a larger challenge. As you progress through the game, you'll encounter more and more meta events, group events, and the difficulty ramps up. Along the way, you'll encounter more events that have larger branches along their failure chains as well. Also a bonus tip, after any dynamic event (or event chain) it's always a good idea to follow the key NPC's or investigate the area after the event has been completed. If you don't run off, you'll often times find they build new buildings, setup stores, build defenses, kick off new events (after some dialogue), repair broken things, build siege weapons, change the weather, have new spawns appear/change, and more as a result of dynamic events concluding. The range of affect on each events varies on a case by case basis, if you get the rabbits out of the melon field the farmers daughter opens a store and sells watermelon and lucky rabbits feet. If you participate in the meta event chain to drive into centaur lands near Beetletun, you open up merchants who find centaur weapons and sell them, conquer centaur lands causing centaurs to stop spawning in the area, open up safe paths for caravans to travel to Beetletun and more! It's always good to look around after an event and see what happened, there is often more than on first glance you'd think. Hope that helps a bit, Colin
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/guild-wars-2-beta-all-t28362.html?p=1158311#post1158311
