Can't you do cross-server guilds?
cool if you can, if not, we'll just have different guilds for the servers
I doubt ping will be THAT relevant, I mean I can play shooters hosted on the other side of the Ocean just fine and my connection isn't even that great, I doubt an MMO which isn't really based on having a reaction faster by 0.07 seconds than the opposition will be that difficult timezones are more important I'd say
I have like 120 ping on the Asian servers in GW1 and I'm european, 80~ ping on the US servers at worst. It's basically never noticeable unless the servers fuck up really badly.
Ugh, I really hope to get chosen as one of the closed beta testers. Haven't played an MMO seriously for years, can't wait for Guild Wars 2.
I signed up twice, if I get in twice, you can have one of mine.
Thanks Miskav! I'll add you on FP so we can keep on touch.
Can't you do cross-server guilds?
I would assume you can, since they are making PVE world switching simple and easy.
It'll be at the end of march.
oh cool I can have nice holidays with my peeps and come back to play guild wars 2 thug life
shit I need to get my HoM act together! Still slacking behind at 16/50! Yeah I was following that thread and making posts with a few other people to back up Martin, but Guru whiners are pretty hardcore. I'm so happy that they don't truly represent the majority of the GW2 community
i only ever used gw guru to look at what some things might be worth, i couldn't stand the community that was active on it (mostly)
I typically used wikia to look up armor sets and where to get unique weapons. During a update I'd look at the update log there.
I'm excited for the structured PvP, especially since you can jump in at level 1 and instantly be level 80 with all your skills unlocked and gear. That means if there's a patch where a different combination of classes is better than the others, you won't have to spend a month leveling a character to 80 in order to be useful, you can just create a new one and go right away
Well if you don't want to change classes for PvP but want to change traits they said in the last blog post you get free resets for your PvP setup.

It just levels you to 80.
-snip- I stand corrected
and you won't be as good as other true 80's because I don't believe it unlocks traits either. Like Sickle said, it doesn't give you uber gear, so you're stuck with your shitty low level stuff.
They said that in structured PVP you will be given temporary level 80 gear and weapons.
Wow, the trait system is looking very attractive right now. I like.
In structured PvP you unlock everything and get bumped up to 80 and get a full set of PvP gear. you don't get shitty low level gear, you get the best PvP gear that there is. You get Glory points through winning matches to buy different looking gear that still has the same level of stats
You don't get free gear. You're thinking of WvW, where you do in fact keep your normal PvE gear and are sidekicked to level 80. In structured and hotjoin PvP, the small-scale arenas, you are exactly the same as a real level 80, with every single skill, item, rune, sigil, trait, slot and pet unlocked. Completely UAX.
The bit I like the most is the split between competitive PvP and the more relaxed WvWvW, its good to see that they're willing to break tradition and rule out gear in the competitive scene.
http://www.gw2tools.com/calc/ Get buildin'. I figured out a way to give an elementalist constant +35% movement speed while attuned to air and weilding daggers with one certain utility skill equipped. That's just normal movement. Imagine applying swiftness to that.. zipping all over the place!

For a mid-range Warrior with Axe/Sword: http://www.gw2tools.com/calc/#t-w-kpaff:Zea.bZY.aaa.daa.Xaa - Massive crit chance with high Precision as well as boosted Prowess for a higher multiplier - 33% chance for bleeding or vulnerability (or both!) on crit - Burst skills have a higher crit chance - Scoring a crit with the axe boosts my adrenaline (if this applies to Burst skills that means I should have a pretty sick loop going with Eviscerate since it'll builds its own adrenaline) - Leg Specialist allows Throw Axe to immobilize enemies - Impale has an increased crit chance, its ridiculous bleed lasts an extra 50% (which is boosted by the Malice stat on the Arms line) and I do more damage to the bleeding guy with my other skills - A flat +10% damage boost This is gonna own bones
Combine with daggers. Not sure how well it would work. It relies on critical hits to stack burn damage then uses the passive trait to do extra damage to burning enemies. Burning Rage Passive: 5% more fire damage to burning foe. Flame Touch: Damage foe for 1.3k (1.5x to burning foes) Glyph of Arcane Power: All attacks are critical hits for a while. Cleansing Fire: Removes all conditions/Breaks out of stun and sets enemies on fire. When you attune to air you can also move 25% faster while wielding daggers. Will be useful for getting around areas when not attuned to fire for combat.
Please stop doing this, this makes me want to play it even more...

All the trait changes is bringing up more questions for me: Is 'Opening Strike' considered the first attack you do to each enemy? Ranger Trait, Keen Edge, states that you can use a 'Sharpening Stone' when health reaches 75%. Can you use this ability when Sharpening Stone skill isn't equipped on your Utility bar? (Also applies to Camouflage ability) Since Trapper's Expertise Trait states that your traps are now 'ground targeted', does that mean that traps are set at your feet without this trait? Here is my example build: http://www.gw2tools.com/calc/#t-r-ppfaa:YWe.YVf.Xaa.aaa.aaa
Is 'Opening Strike' considered the first attack you do to each enemy?
Probably.
Ranger Trait, Keen Edge, states that you can use a 'Sharpening Stone' when health reaches 75%. Can you use this ability when Sharpening Stone skill isn't equipped on your Utility bar? Camouflage doesn't exist as an ability any more btw.
Since Trapper's Expertise Trait states that your traps are now 'ground targeted', does that mean that traps are set at your feet without this trait?
Yes.
Assuming that minions can cause critical hits this should work fairly well. With dual daggers. It heals you for each time you (or hopefully minions) critical hit. Minions will also steal life. Critical hits also cause conditions. The Curses trait makes conditions do a ton a of damage and theoretically anything that walks near your army of minions should fall down and die. I think the first class I'll try is an Earth and Water Elementalist, not sure which weapons I want to use yet though.
