Despite your accusations the game is dying. You cannot deny the dramatic decline in players. Just over one million in a quarter of a year. Then they bring out their money hog of a team to try and bring that number back up bringing us kung fu fucking panda's. The game has come to it's end and it's time for something new. It's time for Guild Wars 2.
I'm done ranting.
On medium-low settings.
Like most MMOs it's not a high end game, so you probably won't have any problems.
But wait until they release the official system requirements and then you'll know for sure.
These seem to be launch requirements
Minimum System requirements also released:
• Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better
• Intel® Core™ 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 or better
• NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI Radeon™ X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
• 25 GB available HDD space
• Broadband Internet connection
• Keyboard and mouse
* Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.

kung fu fucking panda's
People actually believe this.
These seem to be launch requirements
Yeah those are minimum requirements not recommended. They specifically stated, "Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game."
Right... and he just wanted to know if he could run it / gamefreak said "wait for the requirements," of which the required minimum were out
Where did you guys get this idea from?
I had a dream.
I had a dream.
Bastard, giving me so much hope cuz you had a dream.

Now is the winter of our discontent.
Beta Weekend Events will start late april, and be 1 per month.
It is unknown how long they will continue.
The event late march is a closed beta event, not a BWE.
Nothing says dying like 10 million players.
This is the Guild Wars 2 thread, can we keep the inane commentary out of it?
Losing 1 million subscriptions is technically dying. But yeah lets get back on topic.

"I'm going to say something blatantly wrong, but please don't retort".
800k of those subscribers were Chinese, who don't play the real version of WoW but a fairly stripped down version of it.
Combined with the typical slump you see at the tail end of an expansion (this one being Cataclysm) the 1 million subscriber loss seems a lot less disastrous then blindly reading news articles would make it appear.
Okay we can get back on topic now that I've corrected your broken logic.

1m subscribers lost is still dying, they are even laying off employees. stop being a fanboy
Stop being a wow fan boy on a gw2 thread ssly.
1m subscribers lost is still dying, they are even laying off employees. stop being a fanboy
But it's not dying though? 1 million lost, 800k of which aren't playing the real version of WoW, and aren't even paying full $15 subscriptions.
Also good job showing how clearly you just browse news headlines then slam your keyboard to try and make points; 90% of the layoffs were totally unrelated to game development.

Not a fanboy, haven't played WoW in 9 months, Cataclysm was fucking boring. Just stating the facts.
All I know is that WoW is ancient, and many people are waiting to jump something new. Guildwars2 will not kill WoW, but it will leech of a huge amount of subscribers, like many other MMO's have done before.

Dude you are totally wrong... 1 million lost is dying. You can't even argue about hat.
Dude you are totally wrong... 1 million lost is dying. You can't even argue about hat.
But I did argue it, with statistical evidence and trend identification.
Who cares if WoW is or isn't dying anyway? What impact does it have on your life if people do or don't play it? It's pretty fucking obvious that whether you have the option or not you won't play it, so why give a shit anyway?
All i know is that wow is getting desperate and is trying to get subscribers by giving them a free level 80...
ArenaNet loves me, pre-orders start on my birthday.
Now, lets see if your parents love you too. Ask them for the collectors edition. Nothing more, nothing less.

Haha, I have more than enough money for it myself already and I'll get plenty more by then. I have to get it for certain!
Could someone clarify something about W v W for me?
So I was under the impression that WvW stuff was cross server pvp essentially with standard battleground-esk setting. However, I've been watching some footage that of it in the background of some of TB's videos and from what I can see it seems to be an awful lot of zerging weak npcs or auto attacking gates for 5 minutes.

One of the videos for reference.
I have to assume I'm getting the wrong end of the stick here somewhere so if someone could explain would be much appreciated.

Basically the goal is to capture the castle things, it may seem boring but thats because the footage was from a press beta and there wasn't a whole lot of people in it
My understanding is that there are multiple ways to capture a keep and it's not only keeps, there are outposts and other locations of the sorts. You don't have to always be attacking someone either, you can defend your own. You can find and kill the PvE NPC's. You can build siege cannons and pilot golems. There are a lot of things that WvW can bring.
I still can't understand one thing: I know that WvW is three sides fighting each other, and I hear that it's cross server. Of course I also heard one thing: there are three factions. So can someone explain WvW for me? Is it just an alliance of all three factions fighting for the server, or what? Could anyone clarify?
There are three factions and I don't believe those factions are fighting in WvW. If they are it's probably randomly selected factions who just help defend the keeps.
There three teams (red, green, and blue) are randomly chosen (but I think the teams are server based. Like, if you're randomized into green, everyone on your server is green (?) I'm not really sure about that part). But lets say your green team wins a 2 week round, you'd then move on to play against 2 other previous winners.
Also the current WvW videos look kinda boring because not enough people are playing.
Actually, a great example of what it'll be like is one of the Yogscast WvW videos. They're all wailing on the door, and then all of a sudden, what appears to be the whole green team surges from the hills behind the attackers, and swarms them, defending their gate.
Okay thanks that was helpful

Like, really, no sarcasm

WvW is just that. World vs World. Every realm has a team consisting of the players from that realm.
