First thing I'm doing is breaking the NDA.
I remember doing this for The Old Republic. I told the thread what size the download was and some idiot on the thread cried and reported me to Bioware. Lost my testing account, yup.
but they also look different by race.
I'm really curious as to how Sylvari sets are going to look. With all of the cool dungeon armor sets I'm wondering how they'll make plate-like grown armor.

^cunt destroyer I probably won't get in the beta I'm always unlucky as fuck with these kind of stuff, I don't really had my hopes up in the first place to start with so lol but I'm glad to see the game will be out this year and probably before my school year starts which is COOL

And they'll ban him. huehueheu
except that they'll probably fire him too
I'll post the head developer.
I have a friend who has beta access. I'll be over at his place to watch him play GW2 and maybe get a feel for the game myself as well. I played a bit of it at Gamescom, but that was years ago. My friend normally doesn't give a damn about MMO's, but he wants to try GW2 because it's different and has no monthly fee. He's also adamant on making the game run on his giant living room TV, rigging up the game so he can play it with an XBox controller. Should be fun.
My friend this morning: "Have you also received an e-mail saying you're in the Guild Wars 2 beta?" Never did I check my mail so fast Sadly, no e-mail
but they also look different by race.
The same armour set won't look different on different races (except for things like Charr obviously) if that's what you mean. There are sets of 'racial armours' like the Sylvari plant stuff that can only be equipped by that race, but otherwise any race can wear anything. Sylvari can wear full plate armour if they want. (there was a screenshot of imgur of a mushroom sylvari dressed in warrior chain but it seems to have been taken down now)
Some are quite ghastly http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1094058-GW2-PvP-Armorsets-from-Beta
Some are quite ghastly http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1094058-GW2-PvP-Armorsets-from-Beta
I love the Norn 1-shoulder Warrior armor. I really was hoping for something along those lines.
Really windows XP? Haha. Reminds me, in the GW1 news they said they were stopping making the game compatible for W95, 2000 etc, everything before XP. I wonder how many people still use a pre-XP OS? And play GW in it?
I am running xp because there's no performance benefit for me to run windows 7 under bootcamp. Or none that i could notice anyway.
iirc they said less then .01% of active players still use pre-xp OS's
They said around .05%.
which is one in 2000, and since GW has most likely about 200'000 active users at most, its not that many.
Have they released any detail as to what you need to have done in GW and other games to actually qualify for the hall of monuments bonuses?
A lot more than that I'd say. I want to know their player numbers in a graph from 2010 to now :p
Have they released any detail as to what you need to have done in GW and other games to actually qualify for the hall of monuments bonuses?
Do you mean something like this or something completely different?
I only have 8 points :c Anybody know ones that require no money to get?
Titles? Oppressor weapon, easily achieved by going through the war in kryta quests... Uhm, minipets, if you get them from gifts anyway... Those cloaks of the brotherhood, you get 1 every time you win at some area you can reach after you complete EoTN (central transfer chamber, i think) [editline]18th March 2012[/editline] Also, get a phoenix, train it to lv 20, also a statue. (u also get one for just having a lv 20 pet, idk for sure if you can unlock both at once for having a phoenix)
I only have 8 points :c Anybody know ones that require no money to get?
All the hero armors can be done without money and almost all pets, the Black Widow requires 1K. You can vanquish, explore and master all misions on hard mode and normal mode for quite some titles and money and points. Miniatures require no money if you have enough characters and luck. Armors require money, but that is earned while you do titles and such. Destroyer and Tormented weapons are practically free if you do dungeons and DoA.
Ty, I've done the any lvl 20 pet statue, and I have only done about 3 missions in Factions so I cba getting the other pets tbh.

Albeit you only need one for HoM.
Keep in mind that Destroyer weapons require Onyx and Diamonds, both are quite expensive in bulk. Albeit you only need one for HoM.
The chances are that you have enough of both for one weapon after you fill one HM book and one NM book.

Drawing from current market prices and the items needed: 5 plat 100 Iron ingots (3.5 plat) (Shouldn't be hard to get without spending cash) 250 Granite slabs (13.7 plat) (Farmable, no worries with this) 10 Onyx (5.5 plat) 10 Diamonds (60 plat) (Biggest fucking chunk of cash here) Total: 82.7 plat. If just going for the hardest ones, Onyx and Diamonds: 65.5 plat. All in all, shits expensive. Not even a HM and NM book combined would yield proper cash. Perhaps stuff earned while doing them would be enough.
Working on getting a response
