Thanks but I found that version too. I need the one I linked because it has some NDA breakers that have seemed to have removed their posts.
Looked harder, nothing on google, sorry.
I've basically accepted the fact that I wont get in to the beta, I'll preorder the standard digital edition anyway, too broke for anything more.
Well beta clients have already been sent out. People are downloading them as we speak and they have access to the GW2 Forums in beta mode.
JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS: I have not been invited to the beta and these images are not from me!
Welcome to the official Guild Wars 2 Beta Forums.
If you’re reading this, it means you’ve been invited to participate in our upcoming beta weekend event on March 23-25. You’ve successfully created an account, so you’re now ready to download the current beta version of Guild Wars 2.
Maybe this beta is just to make the preorder beta better so people who preordered don't complain? (and thus is the only beta between now and prerorders). that would make me feel better about not getting in

Thanks, I was waiting for that one.

except that every F2P game dev says the exact same everyday nowadays

Blizzard had the same philosophy.
Woo! You can interchange gold for gems (gems you buy with real money), and gems for gold!
Meaning without paying an extra cent, you can get the items and stuff that other players who buy gems, get too. Except without paying it's slower.
if its anything like other f2p player controlled markets gems will be way overpriced (in terms of gold). worries me that that could cause massive drops in the worth of gold and make auction house insane (gems only / ridiculous gold prices)
But that doesn't matter, you exchange the gold for the gems yourself, no need to talk to another player.
[editline]20th March 2012[/editline]
So no chance for stuff getting overpriced. Idk bout inflation, I don't think so, I mean, we would probably need ALOT of gold.
[editline]20th March 2012[/editline]
GW1 has been around for like 6 years, stil no inflation, and whoops gotta go to work.
I trust ArenaNet completely, I am not worrying about the gems and gold and all that stuff. I'm sure it will work out just fine.

Well a natural free market typically has competition which drives down prices, so if everyone is a seller and a buyer there will always be competition, with absolutely everyone. Though that system is exploitable if every buyer agrees to only sell at a certain threshold, but with so many people that's impossible.
GW1 has been around for like 6 years, stil no inflation.
Uhh...what?
The entire market of limited items has undergone near constant inflation since launch, while more readily attainable items have steadily plummeted over time. The only reason an armbrace or an ecto has a remotely consistent gold value is because they are used as currency, and players have an enormous amount of faith in their values. The amount of these you need to conduct high end transactions has been increasing by leaps and bounds for years. Mad king guards go for 200-300 braces, up from just over 100. A dedicated vizu is up from 100 braces 6 months ago to over 150. Any old school req 8 weapon with perfect mods goes for considerably more now then it has at any point in time in the past.
Don't confuse the value of braces and ecto in gold as having anything to do with inflation. They are used as currency, and as currency they buy far, FAR less than they used to on the high end market. Just because the low end market is slowly collapsing doesn't mean that there is a considerable wealth gap. A wealth gap that is growing at an astronomical rate.
Does it change the way the casual player interacts with the game and economy? Not really, but the gap is large, and growing larger. To say that there is no inflation is flat out incorrect.

Spiral Knights springs to mind as an immediate counter example. I've got a few friends who gamed that system over a few months and walked away with around 300 dollars a piece. Not as good as flipping burgers at Burger King, but 3 or 4 bucks an hour playing video games and having fun isn't too terrible, all things considered.
All it takes is a few big players to shove their weight around and the entire market is at risk of shitting itself.
That's a bit worrying. The whole gem to gold thing. If people buy gems with real money they can basically buy GW2 money. Either way, it's still better than being spammed ingame by real money trading sites I guess.
I don't see much of a problem with buying Gems with IRL money and trading Gems for Gold.
Money for Gems
Gems for Gold
The main thing that's going to make this work correctly is how the currency is being handled. The users will be the ones that control the transactions. Even the Trading Post will have the options to sell/buy via Gems or Gold. Having the ability to purchase Gems with money is brilliant in my opinion. Especially for those people who don't have the time to farm things to get the Gold they need. I for example work full-time and will only have about ~10 hours a week to play this game.
Now I'm not expert on inflation and currency relations but I'm sure there are experts in ANet's team that have this all planned out to make sure inflation doesn't happen. Even so I'm positive they have back-up plans.

I hated how, in GW1, that the only way to obtain large sums of Gold/Platinum you would either have to be lucky or have a lot of time on your hands. Lucky in obtaining rare drops to sell for high prices, and time to farm things like Globs or Shards... Neither of which was me.
Now this way in GW2 there are two currencies and there are multiple ways to obtain them. You can still obtain it using traditional methods if you like. Also think about the Gold farmers/spammers. This will most likely (and hopefully) eliminate them if not completely!
You also have to remember that it's NOT THE GEAR THAT MAKES THE PLAYER!
Gems are used to purchase items in the microtransaction store. These items include things that give your character purely aesthetic benefits like visual distinction and unique ways of expressing yourself visually. Not game-breaking items.
..but that's not really my point, all of you know that these items are aesthetic. You think that people will often just sell their gems for gold to buy high grade weapons and armor with real stat boosts in game with the in game currency (gold).
But if you want to sell your gems for gold and make a significant enough profit to have advantages over others in the game by buying armor and weapons, you're going to have to have people willing to shovel off gold for your gems.
And why would people do that for purely aesthetic items? Or at least, why would they do that frequently enough to create a game-breaking experience? Why would they give their hard earned gold, which they can spend on armor and weapons that provide stat boosts in game, on purely aesthetic items?
Which again reinforces what I said earlier... You need demand for gems to sell the gems. And it would be quicker and easier to just buy them with real currency, be it USD or pounds or euros or whatever. This shit won't happen very often. And when it does, it'll only be those very aesthetically conscious buying gems to look cooler. And that won't be frequent enough to create imbalance among characters.
I thought vanquishing was pretty good money in GW1. That doesn't really require too much time in some areas.
Vanquishing and filling those books earned me enough money for 3elite armor sets, and i haven't even played the original That much, just some 800hours, IIRC. Doing one or two dungeons/missions per day doesn't take that much money/skill/luck, and in case of eotn ones you even get the manliest title of all (Slayer Of All).
