No, but pretty damn close.
It is unfortunate. Americans don't seem to understand how money works in other countries.
Pretty interesting read regarding ANet's decision to go for a non-monthly-subscription fee model.

I don't have to read it to know why - they are wonderful people.

Yup, a blanket statement is the best way to go, it won't bother anyone or get anyone off topic arguing. No bad ideas in this post.

It's more than it's just a more profitable state of affairs for the company. The F2P/microtransaction bonanza didn't come about because game developers got nicer; it's just more successful than a monthly fee these days.
Nope, they are wonderful people, possibly angels that are visiting earth.
its odd seeing the "news" repeated because its nearing completion....
one of their reasons mentioned ages ago was because there was no incentive to keep making the game more awesome if there was a steady income for doing nothing
by having to keep a continuous sale they had more reason to put the extra effort in
thats also why the holiday events were so good

Current confirmed retailers for pre-orders.
No Steam :( Guess 25 GB is too much?
UK
Amazon
HMV
Zavvi - CE
Shopto.net
Play.com
USA
GameStop - CE
Amazon
Best Buy
[editline]27th March 2012[/editline]
Does that mean Gamestop is the only source of CE? (Zavvi in UK)
[editline]27th March 2012[/editline]
(not that i'm complaining)
Somebody should have taken my 400 gem bet that Steam would be a digital source. They would have had 400 free gems.
Also, gross. Gamestop is awful. Can we just order from the GW2 website?
That isn't overall digital source, just for pre-orders and they are subject to change
Better hope my local GameStop is selling pre-orders for CE.
I assumed that Best Buy would have the CE, but oh well.
At least GameStop is closer than Best Buy to my house.

Yes please. Or Amazon.
Can you go to the stores now and pre-order it and have them give you the beta access information on the 10th? Or are we forced to wait until the 10th for that
uk's only collectors edition retailer is zawi? who the fuck is that, i haven't heard of them before today.

10th till we get keys, and it will probably be keys given on 10th and beta starts 14th which is saturday, just a guess though.
i really dont know who im going to order it from im so paranoid about them fucking up their order and delivering the early access late. im getting digital delux, cant afford CE otherwise i would.
TB makes good videos but if it's anything like WoW expect him to quit sometime after beta because he got bored of the game.
well this doesn't have a sub fee but it seems like the only game he'll make time for ever is tribes, which i got bored with extremely fast
TB makes good videos but if it's anything like WoW expect him to quit sometime after beta because he got bored of the game.
Well, lets of people quit playing certain games because theyre bored of them and besides, TB has little free time to play what he wants.
Just pre-ordered the collectors edition. I know its fucking expensive but its Guild Wars 2.

Yeah. LOTRO had something like a 300% increase in profits after they switched to F2P.
If only they sold the CE without the statue but I will be buying the CE anyway to support the devs. [editline]awd[/editline] If I can find a shop in the Netherlands that will let you pre-purchase it.
Try the freerecordshop, not sure but they used to have it and removed later.

I asked my local GameStop shop and they told me I could pre-order now and come in on the 10th to get access to beta and pick up the game later when it's launched, but not sure if that's the same everywhere.

So you can pre-order a pre-order?

I've only ever seen one of their stores about an hour away from me, but apparently they went into administration a few years ago and are now online only. Hope they get some more places selling it.
Their stores were my favourite place to buy music, because you could take ANY album in the shop and take it to a little station with headphones to hear samples by scanning the album's barcode and bam- 30 seconds of every track on the album. Much better that the shitty shit-shit system they use at HMV. Now I only buy music on amazon because that's the only place that lets me listen to samples. I miss zavvi shops :(
oh my god:
