So basically, in the new game you just have to get to the bottom without dying. Sounds boring as shit.
In your terms, SSX was about getting to the bottom. Sounds even more boring, but isn't at all. C'mon people. We know like, nothing, and it's being made by a team of capable people. Also, I seem to be the only one who thinks that SSX3 was better than Tricky; kind of perfected it. Only thing missing was Run DMC, but even then the soundtrack was better. "Jerk it out" by ceasars palace; just awesome.

SSX 3 would have been a great game had Tricky never been made. The things that made Tricky an awesome game were the great characters with great voice work, flying down inconceivable tracks fighting it out in a Road Rash esque way and doing beastly tricks. SSX 3 was just me going down a gorgeous three tier mountain range alone only accompanied by a DJ and some good tracks, certainly an alright game but entirely flawed when compared to the classic title that i believe Tricky is. Granted it's been years since i played either game, but those are my lasting impressions of those two titles. I may be hasty with my feelings of a trailer but it lacked the color, character, and creativeness that i believe made the SSX series an enjoyable one.
I will be happy with this if it has a great soundtrack, characters, tracks and the same trick system. Does anyone know the release date for this game?
So basically, in the new game you just have to get to the bottom without dying. Sounds boring as shit.
Usually light-hearted games that later turn into a darker and grimy setting are awful games. It happened to twisted metal.
Dissapointing considering SSX3 perfected the franchise and what makes it great, then to finally bring us a new entrace into the series only for it to go all gritty and modern...no thanks. Thats not SSX, I understand franchises need to update and reboot at times, but SSX just isnt SSX without the crazy over the top tracks, physic defying tricks, awesome soundtrack and those eccentric characters we grew to love. And of course, who can forget DJ Atomika. Yes we have only heard a little information and seen a few promo shots, but its very clear already its taking a VERY different path to what makes SSX...SSX. That said, I am interested to see if they can pull off a serious snowboarding game. Im still interested in the game, hell if it looks good ill probably purchase it, just dissapointing it probably wont be bringing back or improving what made the series its own. But if its anything like how the trailer looked, and as its being created by the guys behind the SKATE series...why not just create a new IP? Seems to me the SKATE developers fancied a crack at a snowboard game, and EA came along to slap a brand on it that would sell. I myself would also be happy with just a HD remake of SSX3 with a few online modes added. And the opinion...seems to be shared by many. EA cant be too pleased by the reaction, but how could they not see it coming? Previous SSX's have been based on event organisers transforming mountains into the most insane and entertaining race tracks around. This is about a group conquering new mountains, so indicates the crazy tracks and event theme are a thing of the past. But it is early days. Taken directly from the SSX site, heres what the developers have to say about it. "Redefining the SSX franchise..." "Players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet." "...where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. " "In SSX: Deadly Descents the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it." It sounds VERY different. Redefining the franchise isnt needed after such a long absense from a true SSX successor. Surviving is the first goal and looking good is second? SSX is ALL about looking good and pulling off impossible tricks on impossible tracks. Players will explore a story of a team? Very different and seems to indicate a loss of previous characters and 'arcadeness'. Im not saying this will be a bad game, but this doesnt look or sound like SSX at all. This is Amped 4. Yeah...LONG post i know, but Tricky and 3 were not just my favourite snowboarding games ever, they were some of the best games ive ever played.
I just completed everyone's tricks book except for brodi and luther on tricky in about 2 and a half hours it so much easier on tricky than ssx 1. I hope they take out that wingsuit in the new ssx because it makes me think you wont be able to do any in big jumps.
I found the SSX: Deadly Descent Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/easportsssx?v=wall
I found the SSX: Deadly Descent Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/easportsssx?v=wall
Thanks for that. I been reading the stuff they post on there and they claim that they are listing to the fans typical EA or maybe not we will have to wait for gameplay footage
Tricky & On Tour, oh memories of Pipedream and the insane million dollar skis, can't wait to get back from uni and have a nice long session now :D
Could still be fixed with some decent music. I mean it's pretty death defying, but SSX was always like that, just in a light-hearted way.
Usually light-hearted games that later turn into a darker and grimy setting are awful games. It happened to twisted metal.
Are you saying Twisted Metal: Black is bad? What?
To me SSX3 was better than tricky, i just enjoyed freeriding down the peaks.
To me SSX3 is slightly easier then tricky but is overall great. Add the voice work+characters from tricky in SSX3 and you have a masterpiece.
Are you saying Twisted Metal: Black is bad? What?
It's not bad but They ruined Sweet tooth/Needles Kane he went from a insane comedic ice cream loving clown to a Tourtured soul serial killer that uses his Ice cream truck to lure his next victims. :smith:
I found a better one:
holy shit, it sounds so much better with Run DMC

The soundtrack, freeroam, and the riding from the top of the mountain to the bottom. I fucking loved it. My favourite area was always the peak of the mountain, where the only tracks were yours. SSX3 was the shiznit.
360 and PS3 only, FFFFFFFFF
On their Facebook page, they said that they were going to keep the track designs similar the old SSX games.
I love SSX Tricky, and I was able to emulate it with my PS3 controller plugged in. Just like old times. :gbsmith:
Sorry about the bump, Gameplay has been released, it is no longer the dark grim snowboarding game anymore:
Woah.
Oh my fucking god. I'm gonna play the shit out of that
Made this today, cant wait for the new one to come out
i know all the words to "Its tricky" because of SSX Tricky.
I neeeed this game. Will be preordering the first chance I get.
Played Tricky on my old PS2 some days ago, it reminded me of those old times I used to play it with both my cousins every week, just messing around. Good times.
Here's 3 videos on the new mountains and the 'Deadly Descents' runs. I have to admit, it looks pretty damn cool. I don't like that they changed the Über meter back into the Tricky meter. I loved doing Super Über moves, and I hope they don't remove them.
