Either work on the current games you have right now, or stop remaking 4 and remake and release 6 on XBLA/PSN.
It's sad when the only new final fantasy games I've enjoyed recently are a fighting spin-off (Dissidia) and a handheld. The last actual flagship game I liked was XII. XIII was garbage and unless they change the battle system to something that doesn't completely suck and make the game something more than a pr they can go fuck themselves.
What ever happened to classes? Why can't they bring that back? Seems like the most effort went into the classic games...
I guess I'm the only one that didn't like XII, I hated the battle system.
IX was the best.
IX was the best.
Agreed, even Square Enix called it their best FF game when it was released on the PSN for download.
i really hated xiii
especially with the whole hope lightning thing that didn't even make sense it was stupidly childish
actually i just hated everything the only think i liked was the graphics and some cutscenes
IX was the best.
i agree
I hope to zeus they change the battle system. Press X to win! It was so boring.
And IX was definitely the best.
VIII and X were my favorite. I've enjoyed all of the FF games I've played, including X-2.
FFIX is my favorite.
Also the most underrated.
That games was the peak of the final fantasy series imo. Glad to see someone else remembers it.
Surprisingly, XIII is one of my favorite FF games even though it was extremely linear. The only one I really disliked was XII. The fact that the best weapon in the game was miss-able due to some retardedly obscure reason made me not want to finish the game.
The FFXIII sequel should be good, especially since they're aiming at those who were disappointed with XIII.

The thing is (I do understand XIII was linear as fuck) every FF game is linear. People always seem to argue "no you could travel back to other areas", yeah but so what? The most you do is buy some items here and there and then you're off to the next area to continue on. The way I see it, FF XIII did you a favor by removing shops and combining them with save points.
Would love a FFVIII remake though.
Also I just noticed you have the word monocle in your avatar were there would be one gbtygfvyg, I remember when it was just binary :v:
Gotta agree with most here - continuation of XIII seems pointless as hell. The original game may've had some unresolved pieces here and there but it ended pretty solidly.
Plus they're turning Lighting into yet another scantily-clad female. God-fucking-dammit, why would you make a character that wasn't meant to be sexified into this?

Right, I am not sure if this is good or what the flying fuck bad. I am leaning towards bad, mostly because well, they are continuing the story, I have trouble finishing it 100%, they could have added DLC, or remake a different game like VI, or just say its over. Maybe if they added a Hard Mode option, I might be interested, but the whole Lightning being another scantily-clad female, what was wrong with her old outfit. Or just make her look more realistic in a war.
Crisis Core is the only one I could be bothered to finish so far, and it was damn good. Dissidia is also not too bad, despite that it's just boss battle after boss battle without any exploration whatsoever.
Dissidia is a fighting game with an RPG core.
It's like asking why theres no exploration in Street Fighter 4.
So... 13 2.
How does that work.
13 part 2
This isn't the first time they pulled this shit.
I also laughed at the dude who said call it 14. That's already a game you can buy.
I only played FF VIII, was quite okay because the characters were older.
13 has the oldest average cast of all FF's to date. Even the Teacher who joins you in 8 was only a year older than you. 7 could compare to 13 on that front.
Agreed, even Square Enix called it their best FF game when it was released on the PSN for download.
They would.
FF9 wasn't made as a main series FF game at all originally, It was basically a love letter from Square to it's fans about what makes FF. They decided to make it a main series game when they realised it was a great game. You'll see many more common elements to FF in FF9 than any other FF.
FFXIII-1 also has alot of those classic FF elements funnily enough. More so than the well loved ones such as 7, 10 and even my favourite 6

I agree with this. To a degree.
XIII had a satisfactory conclusion. No need to carry it's story on. I'll probably play it because Square still make good RPG's as games.
Lightning is totally sexualised as is though. Mini-skirt. Textured bicycle shorts underneath that skirt, An opening in her shirt only there to reveal a stomach piercing? She's sexualised.
Oh and you guys saying you like FF3 as one of your favourites.

That's Final Fantasy 3.

That's not Final Fantasy 3, That's Final Fantasy 6.
Really a Brachosaur....?
Also since when did Cloud and Tifa become a item?..And since when...You know what forget it.
I hope to zeus they change the battle system. Press X to win! It was so boring.

I don't know how long you've been playing XIII, but the fights are indeed boring until they introduce the Paradigm Shift system (which was actually waaaaay too late). After that it got pretty interesting.
I've got an idea.
Cut the love story crap
Cut the Time/Religion plots that have both been done 5 times over
Cut the shitty character design
Find people that can write characters worth a damn
I have been trying to figure out the logic behind Tidus as a character, there is no redeeming factor to it. I can't even conceive of any saving grace he had within Japanese culture. It seems unfathomable as to why they would write such a character. It's like having Jar Jar binks as the protagonist of Star Wars. You do not give a damn about their opinions or feelings because they are so obnoxiously created.
This. Final Fantasy is a good example of the pressure the Japanese videogame industry is under (which some jap devs admitted themselves). They're stuck in old routines while the Western part of the industry is continuously innovating. Problem is the Japanese public love recycled crap so they're stuck in a dilemma.
I only played 7-10, and liked 7, 9 and 10 really much.
For however much 13 was a step backwards in many aspects, I can't say I didn't enjoy playing through it.

Are you fucking retarded Square Enix?
VI was the best one.

Waaaaay too late?
It's around 5 hours in at a slow pace.
You must have ADD.
Looks like I'm the only one (well, nearly) that enjoyed FFXIII. Hated the combat system though.
I enjoyed FFXIII for a while. I'm about 9 hours in now it's starting to bore me.

Got Platinum in it.
Pretty sure Pinut did too.
It's a good game, but not a great story.
Linear, but then the same complaint is never held against Half Life 2, FFX, any CoD or most FPS games.
Shit, even the old FF's were Linear.
Being able to walk around on world map on your journey from Midgar to Kalm doesn't mean that the game isn't go to A->B->C->D->E.
It's a better way of presenting it by a country mile, but it's not like the others aren't linear.

That's more than halfway through the length of an average game.
of an average game.
It's around the end of the first chapter in an average RPG.
Therein lies the humongous difference.
Why do you even want to play an RPG if you're going to whine that you're not half way finished after 5 hours?
You can't hold RPG's to the standards of other games on a timescale.
Seriously. Could they just stop making these games already. Too. Many. SEQUELS.

But at least the earlier titles really opened up at some point, allowing you to travel back to previously visited locations and providing hidden side-quests. FFXIII did this too when reaching Pulse, but not on the same scale.

I agree, and like I said, it was miles better. I was really pointing out how when you think about it, it's a false sense of freedom in the face of linearity.
They. Aren't. SEQUELS.
That gets me almost as much "WHY IS IT FINAL FANTASY IF THERE MAKING ANOTHER!"
Protip: It's the name of the series. it provides brand recognition.
The series is called Final Fantasy because it was the last game they could make with their funds. It was a fantasy game.
Their Final Fantasy.
(Which was hugely successful and made them enough money to survive.)
