It's funny because CoF tried so hard to be like Silent Hill and the like.
Stig, the guy who voiced Simon, apparently likes it. Good enough for me. I'll play it.
yeah but Stig is probably the chillest guy on the CoF forums, I'm not surprised he was the only one to react with even the slightest hint of enthusiasm.
Back the fuck off my thread
wow, you're a dick

and I bet you smell bad
I really don't understand why ruMpel is so butthurt about Grey. It's a free modification that isn't making money, and we're (the developers) not cashing out on its popularity like he is with official mod merchandise and etc. We haven't stolen a single asset and the only similarities lie in the horror genre. He says we stole environments, ideas, and etc, but it's not like Cry of Fear had the most original horror settings of all time. I could go and accuse CoF of stealing environments and themes from Silent Hill, Condemned, etc. (basically ANY horror game in a dark city) but I won't since those locations are horror staples. Our weapons are different, GUI is different, and story is different. Given, we do have a same voice actor, but it's not like Stig is exclusive to CoF and can't voice act for other mods. Rumpel also uses the progress bar thing a lot in his arguments, but come on, is he REALLY trying to own the concept of a progress bar?
The sad thing is that we haven't said anything negative to ruMpel or about Cry of Fear in general; this is all unprovoked harrassment that reaches our team through ModDB, Steam, and elsewhere. Plus, he is using his influence and contacting all the popular "Let's Play" people on YouTube, trying to tell them to not play the mod. As far as ruMpel goes, he has confirmation bias, and since he hates our mod and mod team, he will see similarities wherever he can and call it a "clone."
looks boring I refuse to ever acknowledge it
Here's the criteria for a "clone" in their eyes:
And here's the features of what they have the same as Cry of Fear.
1. New monsters, no reskins & workarounds.
2. 8 new weapons, guns with ironsight.
3. Hardcore Mode woth extra monsters and modified maps. (Like Nightmare Mode perhaps?)
4. Totally new maps, textures & prop models.
5. New Story with 2 Endings. (Cry of Fear has 5 endings. )
6. New GUI, sounds and particle.
So since Grey has custom content and multiple endings, it's a clone? Doesn't make any fucking sense plus it's REALLY broad criteria. I have played CoF and Grey. Rumpel and the rest of the people being idiots on that thread are just paranoid.
Sure, similar PR tricks like a progress bar and donator benefits, but who give a damn whether or not Grey does that or not?
So cry of fear is really a copy of sven co-op then, what with them having new weapons and monsters, donator benefits, hardcore difficulties
i mean, that's the criteria for a copy, right?

RuMpel is just pulling stuff out his ass because he's really paranoid for some reason. he seems to think that everyone's just trying to get a hold on his ~horror mod crown~, like how famous people are paranoid of their friends because they think everyone's trying to ride their coattails to fame and fortune.

I personally think the crown goes to that dude who made the Get a Life mod, that shit came out in 2008 and not many mods today can top that quality. Plus it was the first mod to successfully use the "normal main character with a fucked up mind" trope, so really CoF and Grey both seem to draw a bit from that mod.

didn't AoM do that before Get a Life? then again David basically wasn't a character to begin with beyond "Swedish pretty-boy + junkie in a hoodie", so I don't know if he counts.
I like nightmare house 2, I didn't mind being too short, and loved those parts in which doord dissapeared or you just were into an endless corridor
I liked it but the end-boss was too hard and really sucked.
